My husband and I enjoyed seven lovely nights here earlier this month,. The hotel delivered and, as a tip, I think readers can trust the better reviews of The Playa Flamingo. Our experience was without a hitch from beginning to end. The beach is fabulous as are the nightly sunsets......so wonderful seeing folks just stand and behold the glory of sun setting after a bright sunny (warm to hot) day. Activities Director Greddy burns some incense and plays some calming music every night to honor... Read more

Just back from 2 weeks at the Flamingo Beach. Great location, friendly staff, large pool, good food. Loved the array of iguanas strutting around the pool and beautiful sunsets. Saw a yellow belly seasnake going back into the sea. Highly venomous but beautiful ‚?ļ

We had a wonderful time at the resort. We walked in the front door and was greeted by the front desk. check in was quick. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The swim up bar staff was very attentive and made great drinks. The waiters were very attentive and put force an effort to make sure everything was perfect. If I didn't like something they served, they took it back and got me something else. The beach is across the street from the resort, the room was clean and we had a balcony wit... Read more

I traveled with my granddaughter on spring break, so the resort was a bit noisy and touristy for me. But it was just one half of our trip and had the activities and beach that we wanted. Turned out to be very fun, for her especially, since she met several other teens while there. The room was a standard hotel room. They had WiFi in the lobby but it was sporadic. They also had a small gift shop and a couple of restaurants there. Any other shopping you had to travel to small towns around 15 minut... Read more

The facility and rooms need some renovations such as the bathroom (shower heads, bathtubs, toilets, etc). The mattress protector needed to be replaced and/or cleaned. HOWEVER, the staff members from the hotel lobby to the spa to the restaurant/bars were amazing! They were so accommodating and made us feel like we were royalty! So that made up for the lack of renovations. Also, the e-concierge contacted me before to make any special arrangements and also informed me of what the resort has to offe... Read more

I would like to start off by saying that the moment we walked into our hotel the service was amazing!! After traveling for ten hours we were ready to just get to our room! The rooms were very pretty. House keeping was amazing.. The waiters and waitresses treated us with such respect and made us feel so special particularly our friends at the lounge pool bar.. Elias,Manolo,Yeisson. Were such gems! We decided on Costa Rica holiday as it appealed to us and was different, when we arrived we were promptly taken to out room which was on the same level as reception, i think it was room 2059 however we had a pool view and part sea view, room was tidy and clean my only gripe was the shower not very powerful but i suppose it did the job. The hotel was not very full when we arrived so all food apart from breakfast was from the menus and waiter service, could not fault the food which was just as we... Read more

The view from the open lobby was beautiful, overlooking the Pacific Ocean beach and the pool area. Our second floor room was comfortable and had a balcony with a pool view. We chose the all inclusive plan which included all meals, anytime, along with drinks. If you are looking for a large city, this is not the place. We enjoyed staying on the property and beach. We were there for rest and relaxation. There were some activities such as water aerobics, salsa dancing, and Spanish lessons. We boo... Read more

It was an amazing experience! Everyone we so sweet and helpful. I definitely recommend it!! The beach was close and the pool was great. If you want to grab a bite I recommend coco loco which is a 5 minutes walk. The view was simply wonderful. Although I had the pool view it was still lovely. I actually went with my friend. We both had a blast and it's totally safe to walk around there. Although I don't recommend to walk out so late but overall a good experience!

A modern hotel on the beach with very comfortable rooms. There's lots to do at this resort. There's a large and really nice swimming pool in the central courtyard; a poolside bar, a restaurant and lounge steps away; a well-equipped fitness center and a family recreation room. A concierge can book additional activities.

We stayed here after for three days after a few days at the Arenal Observatory. It was the best place to relax after all of the hiking and 'adventurous' stuff we did. Staff were friendly and able to answer any questions we had. Breakfast was included each morning of our stay (eggs, plantains, bacon/sausage, tamales, rice and beans, fresh fruit, assorted pastries, etc.). The pool was amazing and the views were great. We purchased a groupon which had us spending the last 3 nights at Flamingo. The kids and I all agreed that it was the best part of the trip. I recommend going ahead and splurging on the all inclusive package if you have children or enjoy some drinks. If you don't get the all inclusive package, you may be stressed by the unreal food prices and there simply aren't a lot of other restaurants around. If you are looking for an extremely posh hotel accommodation, this might not be the best choice. May... Read more

Great service, enthusiastic staff, amazing food, delicious coffee, clean rooms, beautiful beach/pool, superb weather, and full of adventure. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. My family and I loved our stay and would be more than happy to return to this hotel. My only complaint was no local nightlife, finding activities in the evening would require you to drive 20 minutes or more.

There is nothing bad to say about this resort. My family and I reserved 4 rooms and had an awesome experience. The resort is absolutely stunning, from the spotlessly, clean hotel rooms, to the beautiful pool and grounds; and a truly awesome surf. All of the staff are so friendly and personable. Especially Orlando, Erika, Yeison and Elias. We will definitely be returning soon!!!! Thank you for giving us such an amazing experience and vacation!!!!!!!!!!!

My husband and I stayed here for several days and enjoyed ourselves but weren't completely blown away. The location is pretty good with easy access to several restaurants and the beach - it's right across an unbusy street. I was a little bummed they didn't have chairs on the beach - although it's a shallow beach and at high tide the water comes up almost all the way so I'm sure that's why they can't. We purchsed the all inclusive package for a premium price, which includes all food, beverages, including alcoholic beverages. I was shocked upon my departure to receive a bill for soda, water and beer that was stocked in our room refrigerator. Why would I drink the water in my refrigerator, when I could walked less than 100 yards and get one or several for free? These charges were not explained when we arrived, and I felt the charges were very unfair.

Pool bar service is slow and bartender Yesson was rude and dismissive when we asked for refills. He definitely did not make us feel welcome. We ended up having to order our drinks from the restaurant where the staff was courteous and kind. On the plus side, we were upgraded to an ocean view suite upon check in. This resort also offers scuba certification with open water dive. Could use renovations as the resort is starting to show its age.
