My husband and I enjoyed seven lovely nights here earlier this month,. The hotel delivered and, as a tip, I think readers can trust the better reviews of The Playa Flamingo. We had a wonderful time at the resort. We walked in the front door and was greeted by the front desk. check in was quick. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The swim up bar staff was very attentive and made great drinks. The waiters were very attentive and put force an effort to make sure everything was perfect. If I didn't like something they served, they took it back and got me something else. The beach is across the street from the resort, the room was clean and we had a balcony wit... Read more

I traveled with my granddaughter on spring break, so the resort was a bit noisy and touristy for me. But it was just one half of our trip and had the activities and beach that we wanted. Turned out to be very fun, for her especially, since she met several other teens while there. The room was a standard hotel room. They had WiFi in the lobby but it was sporadic. They also had a small gift shop and a couple of restaurants there. Any other shopping you had to travel to small towns around 15 minut... Read more

The facility and rooms need some renovations such as the bathroom (shower heads, bathtubs, toilets, etc). The mattress protector needed to be replaced and/or cleaned. HOWEVER, the staff members from the hotel lobby to the spa to the restaurant/bars were amazing! They were so accommodating and made us feel like we were royalty! So that made up for the lack of renovations. Also, the e-concierge contacted me before to make any special arrangements and also informed me of what the resort has to offe... Read more

It was an amazing experience! Everyone we so sweet and helpful. I definitely recommend it!! The beach was close and the pool was great. If you want to grab a bite I recommend coco loco which is a 5 minutes walk. The view was simply wonderful. Although I had the pool view it was still lovely. I actually went with my friend. We both had a blast and it's totally safe to walk around there. Although I don't recommend to walk out so late but overall a good experience!

A modern hotel on the beach with very comfortable rooms. There's lots to do at this resort. There's a large and really nice swimming pool in the central courtyard; a poolside bar, a restaurant and lounge steps away; a well-equipped fitness center and a family recreation room. A concierge can book additional activities.

We purchased a groupon which had us spending the last 3 nights at Flamingo. The kids and I all agreed that it was the best part of the trip. I recommend going ahead and splurging on the all inclusive package if you have children or enjoy some drinks. We purchsed the all inclusive package for a premium price, which includes all food, beverages, including alcoholic beverages. I was shocked upon my departure to receive a bill for soda, water and beer that was stocked in our room refrigerator. Why would I drink the water in my refrigerator, when I could walked less than 100 yards and get one or several for free? These charges were not explained when we arrived, and I felt the charges were very unfair.

Pool bar service is slow and bartender Yesson was rude and dismissive when we asked for refills. He definitely did not make us feel welcome. We ended up having to order our drinks from the restaurant where the staff was courteous and kind. On the plus side, we were upgraded to an ocean view suite upon check in. Stayed for 6 nights with hubby. Booking included a breakfast buffet which included plenty of local dishes like fried plantains with good variation from day to day. Swim-up pool bar was fun, including occasional afternoon bingo games. We also had facials at the spa and were both pleased with the attentiveness and results. All service was good but Santiago (our breakfast waiter) was the best, giving us daily Spanish quizzes to help our language skills. Only drawback was that the wi-fi signal ... Read more

We visited Flamingo Beach Resort & Spa in May 2016 and stayed for a week. The biggest asset of this resort is its beautiful, yet quiet Flamingo Beach connected to resort. If you accustomed to big chain all inclusive resorts, it is probably not the one for you. This resort is on the smaller side, offers all inclusive option, but has only one main restaurant and a lounge above it. Exactly what we were looking for. Overall the hotel was good. If you got the all inclusive with breakfast and dinner it was a pretty good buffet. Just a few steps to the beach which was good for relaxing and walks but it struck me as average for Costa Rica and I've been to quite a few beaches that are better. Nice pool and you got some nice ocean views if you sat at the lounge on top of the buffet restaurant but there were no rooms that actually had a full ocean view.
