I'm struggling to find the proper words to convey how happy we were to have stayed at the El Mangroove. It goes without saying that it is a very beautiful hotel located on the Gulf of Papagayo. The beauty of the hotel is not just limited to it's impressive location, architecture, serene rooms, and gorgeous views. What I was most impressed by was the level of service offered by the entire staff. Particular standouts are the wait staff Daniel, and Fukwai to name a couple. Bartender Evelyn, rest... Read more

Peaceful, Relaxing and extremely friendly. Upon arrival we were greeted by Diego. He presented himself as if he was welcoming us in to his own exclusive home. He took his time checking us in and answered all our questions. Steven graciously escorted us to our room and showed us all the tips in maneuvering around our remarkable room. Our tranquil room had indoor and outdoor living, airy and free from the annoyances of nature. While you are immersed and enjoying the boutique hotel experience yo... Read more

Our lives are all too often overwhelming, we rush from even to event, responsibility to responsibility, taking little time to savor life and the joy it has to offer. I certainly fall into that category, and at El Mangroove, I could take a deep breath, relax, and slow down. From the time we arrived, we were surrounded by friendly, helpful people, who seemed genuinely glad to see us. The service was always attentive, never overbearing, and the choice of activities was great. Just sitting by th... Read more

The property is top of the range with outstanding service and luxurious offering. The hotel is very remotely located - which may be great for some but not for others. Whilst seclusion is great - even though the service is top of the range - for us personally it was not very well bound into Costa Rica as a location. To some extend this hotel very easily could be in Miami or similar. As one example the menu is very non Costa Rican - no small touches. The in room dining menu has better options tha... Read more

The location and people were wonderful! The design of the hotel and grounds was naturalistic, peaceful and quiet. The food at the restaurants was superb except there a couple of times when the kitchen was backed up and our meals were a little late. Overall, the food was excellent. The staff was extremely helpful, welcoming and friendly. We had a room with an enclosed veranda which consisted of a hammock, sofa chair and tables, an indoor outdoor room. Although the property is absolutely stunning (the in-room showers are phenomenal, too!) and the view from the room is beyond tranquil - you will feel like you are sleeping in a tropical rainforest tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the world.. one of the best aspects of this hotel is by far the STAFF. We stayed at El Mangroove as part of an Adventures By Disney Costa Rica tour. The property is beautiful. The pool is glorious. Comfy cabanas are available for rent. Our whole group had dinner on the beach the first night. Food was awesome. I loved the Argentine strip steak with chimichuri. Delicioso! The rooms are lovely. Very comfortable beds. Enjoyed the hotel..loved all the amenities, The place for breakfast was NOT very friendly:( We had to get up and get our own coffee several Times. I was NOT a Fan of the Black sand and the bay area. My grown children 34,30 (girls) stated that there was not much activity for them, But my Husband and I (50's) really enjoyed the calmness. The pool area had a great staff, but they could improve on asking the Adults if they needed anything MORE often. They really catered to the Little ones.

This place is very clean, great service and the food is pretty good. It's modern and convenient to a beach. The only problem I really had was the beach was a little uninviting and the water was kind of dirty. There isn't any good snorkeling around the beach either. The actual hotel is beautiful though and they provide a reasonable amount of food options.

This resort was perfect in every way. Our room, dinning, pool/beach and most of all the staff. Upon checking in we had the pleasure to meet Andrea Arroyo the guest relations Manager. She made our stay most memorable in every way. We were celebrating my birthday and she arrange special dinners for us as well as anything else we wanted to see or do. We did not want to leave.

Overall an excellent stay. Close the Liberia airport. Easy check in. Lovely grounds, small and private/exclusive feel to it. Staff was incredibly helpful and nice. Food was very good, as anywhere in Costa Rica, strong focus on local cuisine. Music was a bit redundant with the club type beats, this needs to change please! Room was gorgeous, extremely big, well built, clean and 5 star in almost every way. Would stay here again. Only negative to say would be that they charged us a fee for the all ... Read more

Short 5 day visit to Costa Rica and visit the sites. The hotel locate is very nice, on a small quite bay. The hotel is in very good repair with nice restaurants. Prices were fair, wait staff service was just ‚??ok‚??, other hotel staff were very pleasant. I wish they had a family pool area. $20 taxi ride into town each way but again, we enjoyed the stay and would most likely return.

This property is truly one of a kind - it is hard to find a hotel like this with such serenity and personal service. From the moment our family arrived, we were greeted by the lovely and warm staff after our long day of travel. The rooms were modern and eco-friendly as pictured. The staff at the hotel really goes the extra mile to make the experience special for every guest including turndown service and greeting us by name everyday. El Mangroove is one of only a few hotels that share a bay w... Read more

Context: My fiancee and I are in our mid-30s and professionals. We're looking for an upscale accommodation at great value and service. The El Mangroove was one of our best stays at resort across our travels around the world. Albeit, the resort was in offseason, the service was extremely accommodating and the hotel was beautiful. Contrary to the previous reviews, the music was not loud or for that matter, not even noticeable at times. I felt that the staff was very friendly and warm and the leve... Read more

We stayed at the El Mangroove for 7 nights. This property is by far one of the cleanest and friendliest hotel I have ever seen. If your a couple and your looking for a great room to stay during your leisure, I suggest the Bark Suite with plenty of room and utilities during your visit. We had one on one service from all of the hotel and restaurant staff regarding my girlfriend's serious allergies (custom meals and extremely professional service throughout your stay). The site's architecture and d... Read more

I highly recommend this hotel. It's by far the greatest resort I've stayed in. My boyfriend and I have been to different resort around Central America and it can't top this location. It's close by to Playa del Coco (nightlife town), which I advise it's over priced in that town. The staff at Mangroove are super polite and friendly. Once we arrived, we were greeted with the cutest welcome juice. If you plan to stay by the coast and plan a water excursion, I suggest take this opportunity using thei... Read more

Facilities are great, service is outstanding but the food takes the price! The food is amazing. Rooms are a tad small but it's a hotel not a condo so it's ok, yet they're very nice and comfy. Wifi all around and many amenities. Highly recommended, but not cheap so beware.

"Octopus Ceviche" in Matiss Restaurant is amazing, the best ceviche in this area. Restaurant's location is very good, and also you have a ocean view. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Coctails are very good.

This property is very hip and trendy. Super cool swimming pool with cabanas all around. This is a small property with contemporary rooms. The food was amazing-fresh and innovative. We loved the patacones (spelling?) (fried plantains) and ceviche. Not many rooms have ocean views but that is not unusual for Costa Rica. i would recommend this for couples, millennials, bachelorette parties, girlfriend getaways.
