My wife and me had a great time. Everyone at the Potrero was really enjoyable, friendly, and helpful. The food and service was very good, as we feasted on a great menu, mostly seafood. The overall service was outstanding.

We had an amazing trip. We were made to feel like part of the family there. They knew all of our names. The place was clean, spacious, and well kept. Ernesto, and mike were extremely helpful in planning our excursions. I would recommend this place to anyone

We have been to this restaurant several times over the course of our month-long stay in Potrero, Costa Rica. The waiters were wonderful...helping us with our Spanish. The food was good and they had a special vegetarian menu that was quite good. The ambiance is amazing! You can hear the waves crashing and it's like heaven sitting near the beach. We love this place!

Located on a secluded beach with diving pelicans and flying fish, silky sand and warm blue sea..... Old style small hotel comfy sunbeds under shaded trees. swim up bar in pool. Good breakfast limited choices but of good standard. Try nearby restaurants esp the Castle on the corner for fab food and drinks !.

Great location and grounds! Situated beachfront, right in the middle of Playa Potrero with easy walks to nearby beach bars and restaurants. We found the beach to be quiet and calmer than neighboring beaches (visited in mid-May) - and don't miss the sunset views! This was our favorite hotel during our stay in Costa Rica. The staff were helpful in arranging tours and answering questions (we definitely recommend the sunset snorkeling and sailing cruise),the grounds were beautiful and well maintaine... Read more

A must stay! Just returned from a 1 week stay at Bahia Del Sol. Situated on the beach amongst lush forest of trees - it felt like we were in our own little rainforest. Wild monkeys in trees located behind the hotel, lizards, iguanas, crabs, all bird types, and mounds of butterflies throughout the entire complex. It is absolutely beautiful, quaint and the best kept secret in Potrero. We had a standard room which was large, clean and lots of windows. Our own hammock outside our room which was... Read more

I love this property, but let me be clear, I have not yet stayed in the hotel. I have only eaten in the restaurant on-site half a dozen times and had lunch by the pool and used the swim-up bar during my visits to Costa Rica to visit friends who I am able to stay with. I will say this, this is a beautiful property. The restaurant interior is stunning under the towering thatch roof. The staff are incredible. The food is absolutely delicious. This property is still Costa Rican run, and they conti... Read more

This resort hotel is in a fine setting on a lovely beach which is little-used. (There is excellent bird-life along the beach 15 mins to N). We had a standard room (the lowest grade) and it was perfectly adequate. The room was very spacious, complete with fridge and room safe. Lovely toiletries! Tables, chairs and hammocks outside the room, should you wish, adjacent to the tropical garden between the room block and the public area. There is a pool with bar, and an extensive lawn down to the bea... Read more

The amenities listed on TripAdvisor were wrong. It listed an indoor pool, outdoor pool, and jacuzzi hot tub. There was no outdoor pool or hot tub. There was a pool that looked like a jacuzzi, with jets, but it was colder than the swimming pool. The staff said, Oh, we haven't had a hot tub in years. The website just wasn't updated. And we've never had an indoor pool, that's just a mistake." It would have been a deal breaker for us when we booked it, because we were there in the rainy season ... Read more

This is the third day we came here to spend the day. We had lunch that was great and personnel very pleasant. Hotel installation are very good with a nice swimming pool and friendly bar. Not to forget the direct access to the beach. Be careful with currents but generally safe.

I stayed at Bahia del Sol for a week in June. The grounds are beautiful. It's very lush and tropical, and the pool area is beautiful. The rooms are very clean and well decorated. If you're looking for an ocean view, it looks like room 101 is your only bet. I was revisiting the area after having lived there many years back, so I enjoyed the area. However, it is quite removed from other things. You are about a 20 minute walk by beach from Potrero and 30 minute walk to Flamingo. My overall impres... Read more

We were here for a wedding and stayed in a "deluxe" room. The room was quite nice. It came with an outdoor jacuzzi and shower, with a small area to nap with chairs. I really liked the outdoor shower. The deluxe rooms are also the closest to the beach and pool. That was super convenient. The pool was really nice and refreshing. It was so hot and humid, the coolness of the water was just what we needed. We spent a lot of time between the ocean and the pool. As others have noted, there rea... Read more

The only positive about this hotel is its location on the beach. We ordered a Deluxe room (Room 114) because of the description on their website (privacy, elegance, Jacuzzi, own garden, etc..), This room has nothing of that. So outdated! The Jacuzzi inside was so old, painting coming off, mould between the tiles. You must be a fool or blind to enjoy this. Instead of a Kings Size bed we asked for, there were 2 Queen beds. Ok, we can live with that, but they were placed so illogical, that the... Read more

This is the third time we've stayed at Bahia del Sol. The Potrero/Flamingo area is starting to see a lot of tourist-related development, but the hotel is tucked away in a quiet, family-friendly corner. A number of good to very good restaurants have cropped up in the past few years, which is nice, though the hotel's restaurant is also quite good. The area also has the usual activities, either close by or via chartered bus. The major downside is the hotel's age. Bathrooms are somewhat cramped... Read more

Hotel areas and room are nice, clean and strategically located. The beach is amaxing, and the hotel location is perfect. The relaxing areas are the best, with ocean right up front and pool also very close to the beach. Restaurant was good for lunch but not so good for breakfast. We got a standard room reserved and received a complimentary upgrade to a room with jacuzzi, which was much appreciated. Front desk staff super friendly and helpful, as well as restaurant staff. We took one of the better rooms that came with its own patio and lawn and a private outside jacuzzi and outdoor shower area. We were very pleased with the room, the food and the people. It is definitely not a 4-star hotel, but an excellent three-star. The beach is odd--brown/black sand but actually more pleasant and private than the much pricier white beaches just down the road. I would recommend them--especially since their prices are quite reasonable.

You'll want to rent a car if you stay here. There's not much other than a black sand beach at this location. The resort staff is very helpful and the food was good but we got a little tired of the menu and resort style prices. There is a bar/restaurant across the road but it's a mostly local clientele. We bought water, snacks and cheese at a nearby grocery. The room was nice and the TV had HBO channels available. The wifi was sketchy. The only place where I could get online was at the out... 3 star hotel, beautiful situation looking out to the sea - we had groundfloor single-story room - heavy scampering noise in morning on roof caused by a large iguana. Staff were good, food OK - no buffets, served at your table, but if you want to sit in the gardens that's perfectly OK, but hotel misses very good or excellent scoring because of signs of run-downness and poor maintenance eg squeaking bathroom door, broken floor-tile, outside shower but no warm water and no explanation if it was mea... Sunset picture perfect, And you can walk to 3 beachfront restaurants crossing the beach, which is really nice. Pool large and cocktails tasteful. The rooms (we looked at one of the regular suites), which don't necessarily have a beach view, were beautiful. It's located in the middle of a very quiet Potrero beach which you have virtually to yourself.
