The place was appealing with good picture. But the front office staff was unfriendly, not helpful and seems to be only driven by large travel agent group. We asked kindly to have, as a group had, a welcome drink, and it was refused. Our room was stinking old, the design is terrible, the HVAC was not working properly. We also like to use the gym, but this one open only a 10am and has no air conditioning system. The view on the volcano was not perfect, and finally the hot springs, while not crowde... Read more

Before I stayed there I read the reviews and became a bit concerned as it sounded a bit less than what the pictures showed and the website touted. Once arriving there, I was pleasantly surprised. What set the stage was that the Arenal Volcano was right there and you could actually see it! My room was fine once the AC was on and I toured around. The place is as it states - a nice place, not fancy, that has a view of the beautiful Costa Rican countryside. Very comfortable and the food was fin... Read more

It's not that it's a bad hotel it's just that it's a 2.5 Hotel not a 4.5 like they said. Staff at reception - front office staff was unfriendly, not helpful at all, we got there around 11:30pm and we just wanted to rest, next day we called to tell them that our room didnt look like the one we booked online and Laura the frontdesk girl told us that why we took so long to call and report this, she said that the manager was not at the Hotel so she was not able to help in a rude way. Nice large single cabins, we stayed in room 268. Very comfortable beds, good air conditioning, large flat screen TV's with a few English channels. Refrigerator with a freezer compartment in room. Nice large bathroom with a walk-in shower with plenty of hot water. Hair dryer in room. Nice view of the volcano from the cabin. Large attractive grounds. Did not see or use the swimming pools. Excellent breakfasts.

We stayed here for 2 nights and loved everything about it. Clean rooms, great views and awesome hot spring pools. The Grounds have been taken very good care of and the staff was also very good. At night time you could see so many stars and when the clouds are not out, the volcano view is the best.

Love the setting of individual mini houses separated from one another. Good variety of plants n flowers along the walk ways with the volcano in the near distance make this hotel great place to stay. The dishes and service at the restaurant are both great. Tried sour soup drink n it was super.

Exceptionally disappointed by our reception . Rude receptionist and a room that stank . Wrist band applied like a tourniquet. Mature grounds ok - and concierge tried hard - found us a less smelly room ! but the rest dire - don't come here - there are so many nicer places to stay in Costa Rica

We really enjoyed our stay at Arenal Paraiso. We were with a tour group, and check in was simple and quick for us. The rooms were very pretty in separate little cabins. The room was clean. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and a hairdryer. The pools were nice with a wet bar that had tasty drinks. The breakfast was very good, and the staff was friendly and nice. We had a nice view of the volcano and enjoyed our stay very much. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed three nights at the hotel. Really smelly room, that must that we tried to spend as much as possible time outside of the hotel! You can hear practically anything what's going on on the neighbors room. The stuff is very loud- every time when they were cleaning the rooms around our room they would speak so loud. The tv- very very old tv( not plasma) , awful quality. The room is clean, breakfast is ok. Very disappointed with a room!!! Won't come back here again.

You could see the volcano from our place. Rooms were large and very clean. Breakfast was huge and was a very good start for the day. Personnal was polite. The bar in the pool was nice but the drinks were kind of expensive. The hot springs were fun, though not natural. A bit far from the village, but the bus tours come to get you in the morning. If you want to go for dinner downtown, taxi can be expensive (20$).

This hotel is clean and the view of Arenal Volcano while sitting on the porch of the Supreme cabin is outstanding. The staff is friendly and restaurant food delicious albeit a bit pricey. You can hear the birds as you wake in the morning through the beautiful Costa Rican wood panel walls, not sound proof but it was still quiet. While eating a delicious breakfast (included) we saw a two toes sloth hanging from a tree right outside our the restaurant by our table in plain view!! We were only t... Read more

It looks like each room is it's own little cabin. It was comfortable, clean, and a good view. I've not visited any of the hot springs in the area, so can't compare, but used the one at this hotel. It is 4 or 5 small pools that start off hot at the top, and get progressively cooler towards the lower pool. There is also a regular pool with swim-up bar. Breakfast is your typical Costa Rican food. I liked it. WiFi is only available at front desk.

Unlike most hotels, this one is arranged into guest cabins with enough space and foliage between them that you can't really see anyone else's, making it easy to pretend you're the only ones there. We got a superior room, so I can't speak to the regular ones, but it was spacious, clean, and had a lovely roofed porch area with great views of the volcano (the rooms are situated so that they all have volcano views). The 7 or so hot springs pools and the lovely grounds make this hotel very good. The individual rooms are nice. Nearly all the rooms are uphill from the reception area, so be prepared to walk downhill to the restaurant and pool and uphill back to your room. I would discourage anyone from trying the hike to the two (?) falls behind the hotel. The good things are its location with great views of the volcano and its termal pools, which are open till late and you can chill there almost alone. It also has gym and spa. It doesn't have wifi in the rooms though!! How can it be??? The rooms are also old-fashioned, bad quality of matress and pillows. Not very comfy in that sence. Breakfast is just fine. It is a nice place but it's not worth what you pay compared to other hotels in the area.
