Very nice place. Friendly staff. Open, inviting lobby. We had a room close to the lobby, on the second floor, with a forest (not volcano) view. With a large picture window, it was very pretty. Our room was spacious- I noticed that is was double the size as the same priced smaller rooms, maybe because of the view, but I was very pleased with our view. To get to the hot springs, you have to take a shuttle, or walk up hill about 1/4 mile. It's a short walk, but we took the shuttle. The hot springs ... Read more

The hotel was very nice! The beds were comfortable, the staff were friendly, and helpful. The hot springs were amazing!! Even if you don't stay at the resort the hot springs are a must see when in the area! The pools and design are so well done! Great place! The only down fall are the food options near the hot springs and pool area, not healthy and very over priced. Other than that an amazing stay!

Tabacon is not the most expensive la fortuna/Arenal resort but little pricey! It is also worth every penny. The staff is second to none, hospitable and gracious. It is best to stay in the main building for many many reasons. The odd number rooms provide mountain views and even number Arenal views but just step outside and see it in all its splendor. The zen gardens are tranquil beyond belief with no children permitted in this area of hot springs. Their are many family spots to soak as well as sm... Read more

Amazing experience! The rooms and bathrooms were perfect, our room had a view of the volcano. The hot springs were gorgeous! And hotel guests get exclusive access to terrace gardens with its own bar and separate hot springs. The only thing we wished was different was that it's not walkable to the town La fortuna, it's about a $18 taxi ride each way to the town. Also the food at the resort was a bit overpriced. Overall a great experience however!

The spa setting is beautiful and the separate pavilions maintain a wonderful sense of privacy. The hotel is very large and caters to groups and businessmen. The staff is very nice but I felt a disconnect with the guests - perhaps due to the large number of guests they serve on a daily basis. The rooms were clean and very large but I feel they were not consistent with the lush surroundings and these rooms could have been in any city anywhere in the world.

The place is just awesome and the atmosphere is something magic at night. Just a lot of tourists go there, so if u plan your trip in high season, take it into consideration. The staff is very nice and helpful, thanks for the great stay.

Tabacon can be described with one word - perfection! From the impeccably kept grounds to the extreme helpfulness of the staff, it is truly one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. The hot springs are magically beautiful. This is our second trip to Tabacon and we were planning our third trip before we even left!

First of all, they upgrade us to a gorgeous suite with a beautiful view. This place is very safe, the staff are very friendly, and the hotspring are breathtaking. We order a couple massage at the spa,and it was one of the best massages we have ever taken. They offer a very unique ritual and have a very relaxing natural sound while you are taking the massage. The only obstacle is that the food (not very good) and drinks are too expensive.

Simply must experience the thermal springs. As hotel guests have access to exclusive area at top of the resort. Service here as with all my exoeriences in Costa Rica was excellent. Rate as Four stars overall as it is fairly expensive, and while everything is very nice, doesn't have the same 'wow' quality as Rio Perdido. Was disappointed with superior room --bathroom was dated (jetted tub w linear shower curtain rod), had no patio, or view of Arenal. Were pleasantly surprised when returned from h... Read more

Can't say enough good things about this resort. The rooms were modern and clean, staff was professional and very helpful, and the hot springs were beyond amazing. The swim up bar and terraced springs were almost surreal. Truly a magical experience. A must see!! Can't wait to go back. 10/10

Beautiful rooms with more room than you'll need. The bed I had was a large king with down comforters. Huge bathroom. Breakfast buffet was included. The service was great and the hotel desk was very helpful in helping me plan my activities. Of course there is the hot springs spa. Just go there. Words cannot express how wonderful this place is. If you don't have the money, then save up, however long it takes and go.

Very nice place. Good for the money. Used to be the top dog place, but other more extravagant places have moved in. Good service, clean upscale rooms. Hot springs are very cool...an actual natural hot river runs through it. Lots of private little places into which to nestle down.

We stayed here for 2 nights. This place was nice, but honestly did not live up to my full expectations. It was quite busy upon check-in and crowded when we got to the springs. I thought I would enjoy the hot springs a lot more than I did. They were quite crowded and we had trouble finding a private spot to relax in. Also, a good pair of Tevas or water shoes in the springs would be helpful as the bottom is very rocky. The main pool and bar area was also very crowded. There is a beautiful... Read more

From the moment we turned into the Tabacon Resort we wanted for nothing. Service was outstanding. Our room was very well appointed with a spectacular view of the volcano. We ate at all three dining options and the food was equally impressive. We splurged at the spa and took advantage of the section of the springs reserved for the hotel guests. First off I would like to commend Tabacon on good service (although the woman checking me in was not pleasant at all) and wonderful hot springs but honestly for the price you are paying, the rooms are a bit lackluster. For this price range, I'm used to paying for swanky hotel rooms in America but here it is not the case. If it weren't for the amazing hot springs, I wouldn't be back.

One hiccup with the staff was when our key stopped working the middle aged bell boy went to get us a new key and never came back other then that they were great. We had a great time at this resort. I can't believe it's rated so low. That makes me feel like the hotels rated above it must be out of this world. Our room was amazing. Gorgeous views of the jungle and mountains. The hot springs were beautiful and so relaxing. You can walk to them from the hotel, takes five minutes down a beautiful path, or take a shuttle. Hot volcanic springs and the Arenal volcano are the key attractions in this resort. Highly managed environment complete with a "coat stand" by each pool (most set at 36/37 degrees) and loungers makes for very comfy few hours. Rest assured, they will take you to it in a golf cart. We had massages set up for when we arrived .. They ask you to get there 1/2 hour prior to appt time for "relaxation". Instead... Read more

My husband and I spent the 1st 3 days of our Costa Rica trip at Tabacon and we absolutely loved this place! Our room was fantastic (rainforest suite) and all the staff were gracious and helpful. Words cannot explain the beauty and just how wonderful the hot springs area was. I never wanted to leave. They set up 2 excursions for us with the Jacamar Naturalist Tours and both tours were awesome! Jacamar is a top-rate company! The only reason I didn't give Tabacon 5 stars is that I feel the food, ... Read more

Hotel is good. I liked how they offered DVDs to watch in the room. The tub was a nice plus, it was deep with jets. Other than that the hotel was just okay, pretty typical. It is nice that the thermal hot springs are included in the stay though. The restaurant that is within the hotel is amazing. I think the hotel deserves 3 stars since it's just okay, hot springs and the restaurant deserve 5. The restaurant expensive but soooo worth it.

This place was amazing! From the moment you book, to the moment you depart, the staff is attentive, professional, and truly gives you a VIP experience. Gidget and Nancy at guest services ensured that every need we had was taken care of. They even knew our names and how long we were staying without telling them! My fiancé and I left, knowing that this was likely our honeymoon experience, and it will be hard to ever top this place. Highly recommended!!

My husband and I can't stop talking about our stay at Tabacon! We originally booked our entire stay on the Central Pacific side of Costa Rica and I changed our plans at the last minute after stumbling upon this resort and reading the reviews on the Internet. The only complaints I read about prior to our visit was the distance to the springs which I would like to comment on. You do have to travel across the street to the springs but it is only a 1 minute quick shuttle ride. The shuttles are const... Read more

We chose to stay at the Tabacon for a few days out of our 2 week vacation, and we were not disappointed at all. This resort is truly a gem in the beautiful tropical jungle of Costa Rica. One thing to note: this is a very Americanized resort style stay in the heart of Costa Rica. If you're looking for a true Costa Rican experience, this is not it. This is a very nice resort, comparable to a Hilton in Hawaii. The Room: we had a Superior Room which was perfect, not a fancy suite but still very ... Read more

Touristic and quite busy but still charming. Loved the hot springs. Even nicer in reality than in the pictures. Gym small but okay. Service as in many places in Costa Rica is just superb. Not to miss. Room was spacious comfortable and modern.

Tabac on is a thermal resort that is an excellent romantic or family resort. The thermal hot springs, adjacent to the hotel, are excellent for relaxing, with distinct areas for both families and and adults. This was our base for exploring the mountainous regions around Arenal (volcano) and from which we participated in a number of fun adventures including zip lining, river rafting, and more. While not close to the beaches, the proximity to the volcano (active) is spectacular, with views of th... Read more

We had such a wonderful stay here during the first part of our honeymoon. The room was lovely and the staff was very friendly and attentive. It was clean and well maintained, with some nice touches like cozy robes and turn down service. The best part of our stay, however, was the hot springs. Hotel guests have access to their own section and it is absolutely gorgeous and so relaxing. The springs were unlike anything I've ever seen. The only minor complaints I would have is that the drinks and fo... Read more

We stayed here on our last night in Costa Rica, and wish we had a couple extra days. The resort was first class, and the hot springs were amazing. I definitely recommend making this a destination on your visit. We will be back!

This place is very clean and probably the only place I stayed in Costa Rica where there are not a ton of mosquitoes in the room. The staff was very nice and attentive. Also the natural springs that they had were amazing. Saying all that for the price that you pay they do not give you much. They charge for every thing you don't even get water from this place. On my trip I stayed in four different hotels and every hotel gave me water and free breakfast this one did not and was the most expens... Read more
