Very nice place. Friendly staff. Open, inviting lobby. We had a room close to the lobby, on the second floor, with a forest (not volcano) view. With a large picture window, it was very pretty. Our room was spacious- I noticed that is was double the size as the same priced smaller rooms, maybe because of the view, but I was very pleased with our view. To get to the hot springs, you have to take a shuttle, or walk up hill about 1/4 mile. It's a short walk, but we took the shuttle. The hot springs ... Read more

The hotel was very nice! The beds were comfortable, the staff were friendly, and helpful. The hot springs were amazing!! Even if you don't stay at the resort the hot springs are a must see when in the area! The pools and design are so well done! Great place! The only down fall are the food options near the hot springs and pool area, not healthy and very over priced. Other than that an amazing stay!

Tabacon is not the most expensive la fortuna/Arenal resort but little pricey! It is also worth every penny. The staff is second to none, hospitable and gracious. It is best to stay in the main building for many many reasons. The odd number rooms provide mountain views and even number Arenal views but just step outside and see it in all its splendor. The zen gardens are tranquil beyond belief with no children permitted in this area of hot springs. Their are many family spots to soak as well as sm... Read more

Amazing experience! The rooms and bathrooms were perfect, our room had a view of the volcano. The hot springs were gorgeous! And hotel guests get exclusive access to terrace gardens with its own bar and separate hot springs. The only thing we wished was different was that it's not walkable to the town La fortuna, it's about a $18 taxi ride each way to the town. Also the food at the resort was a bit overpriced. Overall a great experience however!

The spa setting is beautiful and the separate pavilions maintain a wonderful sense of privacy. The hotel is very large and caters to groups and businessmen. The staff is very nice but I felt a disconnect with the guests - perhaps due to the large number of guests they serve on a daily basis. The rooms were clean and very large but I feel they were not consistent with the lush surroundings and these rooms could have been in any city anywhere in the world.

The place is just awesome and the atmosphere is something magic at night. Just a lot of tourists go there, so if u plan your trip in high season, take it into consideration. The staff is very nice and helpful, thanks for the great stay.

Tabacon can be described with one word - perfection! From the impeccably kept grounds to the extreme helpfulness of the staff, it is truly one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. The hot springs are magically beautiful. This is our second trip to Tabacon and we were planning our third trip before we even left!

First of all, they upgrade us to a gorgeous suite with a beautiful view. This place is very safe, the staff are very friendly, and the hotspring are breathtaking. We order a couple massage at the spa,and it was one of the best massages we have ever taken. They offer a very unique ritual and have a very relaxing natural sound while you are taking the massage. The only obstacle is that the food (not very good) and drinks are too expensive.

Simply must experience the thermal springs. As hotel guests have access to exclusive area at top of the resort. Service here as with all my exoeriences in Costa Rica was excellent. Rate as Four stars overall as it is fairly expensive, and while everything is very nice, doesn't have the same 'wow' quality as Rio Perdido. Was disappointed with superior room --bathroom was dated (jetted tub w linear shower curtain rod), had no patio, or view of Arenal. Were pleasantly surprised when returned from h... Read more

Can't say enough good things about this resort. The rooms were modern and clean, staff was professional and very helpful, and the hot springs were beyond amazing. The swim up bar and terraced springs were almost surreal. Truly a magical experience. A must see!! Can't wait to go back. 10/10

Beautiful rooms with more room than you'll need. The bed I had was a large king with down comforters. Huge bathroom. Breakfast buffet was included. The service was great and the hotel desk was very helpful in helping me plan my activities. Of course there is the hot springs spa. Just go there. Words cannot express how wonderful this place is. If you don't have the money, then save up, however long it takes and go.

Very nice place. Good for the money. Used to be the top dog place, but other more extravagant places have moved in. Good service, clean upscale rooms. Hot springs are very cool...an actual natural hot river runs through it. Lots of private little places into which to nestle down.

We stayed here for 2 nights. This place was nice, but honestly did not live up to my full expectations. It was quite busy upon check-in and crowded when we got to the springs. I thought I would enjoy the hot springs a lot more than I did. They were quite crowded and we had trouble finding a private spot to relax in. Also, a good pair of Tevas or water shoes in the springs would be helpful as the bottom is very rocky. The main pool and bar area was also very crowded. There is a beautiful... Read more

From the moment we turned into the Tabacon Resort we wanted for nothing. Service was outstanding. Our room was very well appointed with a spectacular view of the volcano. First off I would like to commend Tabacon on good service (although the woman checking me in was not pleasant at all) and wonderful hot springs but honestly for the price you are paying, the rooms are a bit lackluster. For this price range, I'm used to paying for swanky hotel rooms in America but here it is not the case. If it weren't for the amazing hot springs, I wouldn't be back.

One hiccup with the staff was when our key stopped working the middle aged bell boy went to get us a new key and never came back other then that they were great. We had a great time at this resort. I can't believe it's rated so low. That makes me feel like the hotels rated above it must be out of this world. Our room was amazing. Gorgeous views of the jungle and mountains. The hot springs were beautiful and so relaxing. You can walk to them from the hotel, takes five minutes down a beautiful path, or take a shuttle. Hot volcanic springs and the Arenal volcano are the key attractions in this resort. Highly managed environment complete with a "coat stand" by each pool (most set at 36/37 degrees) and loungers makes for very comfy few hours. Hotel is good. I liked how they offered DVDs to watch in the room. The tub was a nice plus, it was deep with jets. Other than that the hotel was just okay, pretty typical. It is nice that the thermal hot springs are included in the stay though. The restaurant that is within the hotel is amazing. I think the hotel deserves 3 stars since it's just okay, hot springs and the restaurant deserve 5. The restaurant expensive but soooo worth it.

This place was amazing! From the moment you book, to the moment you depart, the staff is attentive, professional, and truly gives you a VIP experience. Gidget and Nancy at guest services ensured that every need we had was taken care of. They even knew our names and how long we were staying without telling them! We chose to stay at the Tabacon for a few days out of our 2 week vacation, and we were not disappointed at all. This resort is truly a gem in the beautiful tropical jungle of Costa Rica. One thing to note: this is a very Americanized resort style stay in the heart of Costa Rica. If you're looking for a true Costa Rican experience, this is not it. Tabac on is a thermal resort that is an excellent romantic or family resort. The thermal hot springs, adjacent to the hotel, are excellent for relaxing, with distinct areas for both families and and adults. This hotel is really amazing, the private hot springs are spectacular and the hotel itself is super fancy, over delivers on almost every aspects. However, be aware that this hotel is located 20 minutes from the city center, which means you'll have to pay $17 for taxi for each direction. If you want to eat \ drink in the hotel, you will have to spend about $40 per person, you won't really have other choice. All in all we really enjoyed our stay, the only thing I feel missing is that I wish I ... Read more

This is definitely not the cheapest place to stay at but you won't regret the money spent. Absolutely everthing is top notch here. The room are beautifully appointed, with so many amenities from slippers, to robes, umbrellas and more. The grounds are perfectly manicures. The hot springs are amazing! The place is huge with so many tucked away nooks and crannies that it is easy to find a spot to hide away and enjoy the waters. There are several bars on the grounds to enjoy a cocktail (ask ab... After eight years, Tabacón has changed significantly in relation to service and authenticity. All seamed perfect! The rooms and the breakfast quality are outstanding! Also, the thermal springs near by as well as the private Shangri-La area for hotel guests are a must visit. The only things I did not like in such an upscale resort was the plastic bracelet and other little papers you get for: your car, for your towel, for your luggage - don't loose them... This place was unforgettable in the best way. It is definitely worth the price and then some, which can be hard to understand until you visit. The food was some of the best we had while in Costa Rica. There are so many spots to explore in here and it's a great spot to spend all morning and evening.

The hotel grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The room was spacious and comfortable. The hot springs were spectacular. The water temperature was hot enough for me and sitting under the waterfalls was relaxing. I highly recommend water shoes since the bottom of the pools are rocky and sandy. The service was excellent.

After a horrific experience at a nearby hotel on our honeymoon and needing to change hotels immediately, we found Tabacon and wow, were we glad we did!! They sent a shuttle to come pick us and our stuff up. Upon check in, we were greeted by the friendliest staff, given welcome drinks, and upgraded without having to ask! They went out of their way to make it known we were on our honeymoon, and treated us like royalty! The honeymoon suite was amazing, we didn't want to leave our room. View was out... Read more

Tabacon is a gr8 resort to stay at Arenal. We had a wonderful experience as the staff were very courteous and friendly to us they took care of our needs from beginning till the end and provided easy access to all the facilities at the resort in the golf carts. The hot springs at the resort is the best with the surrounding beautiful gardens. Clean spacious rooms and the food was good at the restaurant. I absolutely recommed this hotel. The price is a little bit high compared to the other hotels around, but it worths the money. I stayed with my wife in the honey moon suite for 2 days and the room was stylish, clean and well equipped. Also there was view to the forest and the volcano. The internet was fast unlike other hotels in costa rica. Service was very good (really felt like a 5 star hotel). This Resort takes relaxation to the peak and stays there. They spare no amenities and think of everything to ensure 100 percent satisfaction. The Hot Springs are perfectly heated and the vast choice of degree is comforting. The massage was my highlight because my therapist was properly trained for 4 years in school to specialize in massage and my body felt healed and restored. First off, November is the best time to visit. No crowd, weather has been perfect. This is a luxury hotel and they treat everyone special. Greeted with "welcome home!" We were upgraded to the honeymoon suite. It's amazing and faced the volcano. Hot springs were so nice, I think over 22 of them. Also pools and cooler water spots to hang out in. Worth the money. Prepare to be amazed.

Picture yourself in the lush rainforest of Costa Rica, seated in hot spring pool with the sound of a small waterfalls and a view of Arenal Volcano. My dad and I took a father daughter trip to a few destinations in Costa Rica and this was our first stop. The stay started with an upgrade to a massive room for our anniversary. After that, staff were great, the springs were great. The springs were empty bc it was offseason, so that was the cherry on top. Tabacon is very expensive relative to other stays in Costa Rica, but that's what they advertise and it was very nice.

This resort has to be experienced in person to fully appreciate it. It is stucco with tile roofs, but very modern inside, total luxury. Pictures don't do it justice. The adjacent hot springs are like stepping into a tropical paradise. You can either do a day trip to the hot springs (about $65 per person) or stay overnight at the resort, which includes, in effect, 2 days at the hot springs for all who are staying in the room - the day you arrive (they will store your luggage safely and you can ... This hotel has been here for a while and has a sleek, modern style. The rooms are reasonably large with contemporary furnishings. The views are of the hotel grounds and the volcano, with better views on upper floors. What is there not to like about this magnificent Hotel & thermal Spa? Well it does not boast the grandiose architecture of major hotels, it more than makes up for it by the quality of their service, the elegance of the rooms, and best of all it's absolutely magnificent thermal Spa with multiple natural pools all surrounded by a lush tropical jungle. What an incredible hotel with amazing service! The staff at the front desk will help you with any questions or reservations you may need.
