At arrival my husband and I were a little worried as some things could use some updating, maybe a coat of paint, and better showers. The showers which are important to me, were very difficult to get a good temperature so hot showers were hard to get... With that said... Everything else made up for that 10 fold!! The staff was top notch! The bar tender and the desk staff made us feel at home instantly! I really mean that it felt like home. The food at the restaurant was my favorite in Costa Rica.... Read more

My husband and I stayed for 4 days in GreenLagoon with our son, 12 and daughter 15. We loved it. We liked that it was a few kilometres outside of La Fortuna in the countryside near a wonderful huge waterfall. Like many places in Costa Rica, you need a 4x4 to get there, prepare yourselves for a short, bumpy ride from the town. Our villa was very comfortable with huge, large beds, great showers, little kitchenette, fridge and so forth. Surrounded by lovely gardens, you'll nature right by you, ci... Read more

The resort exceeded our expectations! Excellent service and very friendly people! Best possible views from each side - on one side we saw Serra Chatto - volcano you can hike to (and we did); from another side - excellent view to the valley below. Very close - walking distance - to La Fortuna waterfall. Excellent restaurant - the food was always delicious. Both the food taste and the area of the resort easily prove that the folks there grow the vegetables and fruits themselves to use for cooking... Read more

We really enjoyed our time here. Our room was lovely & perfect for what we needed. Allan at the front desk was so helpful answering all our questions before & during our stay. All of the staff was great. The location is perfect there is a lot to do close by & we even survived the Cerro Chato hike. The view from the top was worth the intense hike to get there. We enjoyed the tours we choose through them a lot.

We stayed 2 nights at Green Lagoon. True to its name, we got the vibe and the feel of well being high above the town of La Fortuna. Very friendly and attentive staff - Andy at the front desk upgraded our room due to low season. Allen who oversees the bar and restaurant made us feel welcomed and comfortable. Christian who oversees the garden and landscape spontaneously gave us a brief but informative free tour of the resort ground; we learned its mission and vision of providing a healing and wel... ***Stayed one night but would have loved to stay longer*** From the moment of check in to check out the staff was super friendly and very accommodating. We got to the resort later in the night and Allan was there waiting for us at the front desk, the place was empty at this time (low season). After showing us to our Villa (HIGHLY Recommend getting a villa, more on that later) he talked to us about some of the local plant life and showed us the frog garden. We went to the restaurant on the prope... Read more

This amazing hotel sits directly under the majestic Arenal and Cerro Chato volcanos. Waking up to birds chirping was a real treat, very different from New York City. What made the stay even better was the friendly and informative staff, definitely ask about places to eat! The room had a great view, right next to the pool and some cows would even stop by to say hello. Christian offers the bird tour and the night walk tour, and it expanded our understanding of the amazing environment which is dire... Read more

Our family of five adults recently stayed at this resort. We had the most wonderful time. We stayed in the 2 bedroom air conditioned villa with the infinity plunge pool. Absolutely gorgeous! There is a full kitchen. We loved the back porch with the plunge pool and hammocks. We spent hours enjoying the views and sounds of nature. This resort is up the hill from the La Fortuna waterfall. It is the perfect location (you need a car). The staff was wonderful! Breakfast is included and it is... Read more

Amazing place. The owners are seriously into helping people improve their lives. There's a large garden full of medicinal plants. The restaurant has a largely vegetarian menu in addition to the typical menu (make sure you ask for it - we didn't realize there were two menus the first night). The restaurant is pricey compared with local restaurants in town, but worth it if you want the healthy food. Service was tremendous the whole time we were there. One worker took us to see some frogs at night.... Read more

We can't begin to say how pleased we were with out stay at this property. We stayed in bungalow 11 and were blown away with the views and hospitality of the service we received. Great bart tenders, waitstaff and incredible breakfast served with out stay. The hike up Cerro Chatto is not joke, please don't take it lightly.

This wonderful boutique hotel is well staffed, clean, quiet, and tucked in with beautiful views. The staff, with Danny at the front desk who spoke great English, took wonderful care of us. Meals at their restaurant were well prepared and tasteful. The best part of this hotel were the acitvities right at your door. The backkyard had a bird viewing stand set up where we saw a variety of birds including toucans. Down the hill was the La Fortuna Waterfall. The waterfall is not part of the ... Read more

We came to the Green Lagoon through a Groupon for a week in three locations in Costa Rica. The Green Lagoon is a wonderful experience in so many ways. Three individuals who work there stood out especially: Wilfredo, the night man who also serves breakfast will walk around the grounds with you at night and talk about his life in Nicaragua and CR; Alan, the bartender, is a consummate professional server and a charming and friendly guy; and Cristian, a naturalist and guide to will take you on VERY ... I have mix feelings about this place. First I will mention the "bad" things: Shower: Water pressure is nonexistent! after being outdoor all day water rafting, canyoning, hiking...I would like to arrive to my hotel and take a nice long warm shower....not possible at this hotel, they were long showers alright but not because I was enjoining it but because there was SO little water coming out that every time I shower took me long long time to wash my hair (I have long hair), we didn't have hot wate... All the way at the top near Cerro Chato's entrance, this resort and their staff are amazing! I was there for several days and loved it, especially their plan of recreating a natural rainforest environment for so many of these species that can be found! Also they are very green, being all about sustainability. Lots of rainforest plants everywhere, and greenhouses growing your food they serve at their restaurant. La Fortuna waterfall is just down the driveway and town is a short drive away, but ... Read more

Cerro Chato hike with green lagoon at top if you are adventure seeking. Must be in good shape and willing to get dirty. Entrance fee included with stay. Only downside to property is $10 cab each way to town. If you don't need late night bar scene beautiful retreat. Allen in bar super friendly, Tatiana at desk, Wilfredo who does restaurant and night security, and Christian who did night tour and morning bird watching were all great! They even had a laundry service for our muddy clothes! Elena als... Read more

This resort is by far one of the best I've stayed. I was extremely pleased with the staff and the food was fabulous. The hike up the mountain was hard but well worth it to get to the Lagoon. We also went zip lining. That was great also, at the end they took us on the Tarzan swing. I would go back there.

We enjoyed this hotel, but didn't find it luxurious. Comfortable beds, friendly and efficient staff. A little off the beaten path, which I like! The views from the pool and surrounding areas are absolutely spectacular -- even when it's raining. And it rains... A lot! When it did clear, we were treated to a view of the volcano (didn't hike to the Lagoon) the village nearby and lots of beautiful birds and jungle. We didn't book any adventures through the hotel, but they offer many. The attached re... Read more

My experience at the Green Lagoon Resort was ideal! The staff was very friendly which made the visit even more pleasant . Our villa was beautiful and clean with a breathtaking view of the city, skies and Cerro Chato. We enjoyed watching the sunrise every morning and listening to the night sounds of the rainforest daily. I would like to thank Cristian Padilla, nature guide, for taking the time to make our tours memorable. We love nature so each tour was geared to share the extra special secrets... Read more

Very peaceful place off the beaten pass. Welcome drink was a nice touch. they have outside jacuzzi, which was great after day of hiking. Spectacular view from the balcony near the bar. lots of birds and beautiful plants. Air conditioner was set on timer, so it was shutting down with no option to turn that timer off (even though we could modify the temperature). room was getting too hot too many times.

Green Lagoon Resort is an idyllic location. It sits on the foothills of a volcano providing great views and easy access to incredible hikes and wildlife. We were given a generous upgrade and stayed in one of the villas offering us great views, comfortable and clean rooms. The Resort is a bit off the beaten path which we enjoyed, but is an easy drive to town, zip lining, thermal springs and more. The only hesitation--the food is okay--nothing that special and the atmosphere in the dining room... Read more

The GreenLagoon Wellbeing Resort is misleading right from the name, the rooms which smell of mold and are basically closets situated with terribly uncomfortable beds. Let's get to the most devastating matter at hand, on the third (and thankfully final) night of our stay in the "resort" we went to the natural hot springs to unwind and relax, we arrived back to our hotel at 11pm on a Saturday night to find the entire place had been shut down and locked. We were unable to get into the hotel or our ... Read more

GreenLagoon's vision currently in transition, so the rooms themselves are a bit strange and old. The experience overall is one of 'wellness', though, since an 8-mile trail that goes straight up is on the property and the food is healthy and wholesome. We really enjoyed watching the lightening storms throughout our stay and Alan, our server, was a total heart of gold. Just keep in mind the location is not near the city, so budget for $15 roundtrip taxi rides if you are going to stay here.

Beautiful place to stay, the lodge was really clean and the service on point. View from our room was impressive, such a quiet and peacefull place to stay with a lot of birds and nature surounding the place. The restaurant offers local kitchen, and breakfast on menu. We highly recommend the Banna Pancake ! Also easy access to the Cerrochato Hike (wild but worth it). But without a car it's still one hour walk to la Fortuna. Defenetly a place to stay !!!!!!

The location of this place was hands down the best part of staying at the Green Lagoon. We arrived for our first night in Costa Rica late at night when everything was too dark outside to really soak in the beauty. The GreenLagoon was technically closed when we finally arrived (at 9:00 PM) but workers from the resort knew we were coming and stayed late to make sure we got our bed for the night! Literally everyone here was insanely nice, so welcoming and very helpful about the things to do in th... Read more
