"I cannot say enough about how wonderful both the facilities and staff are at Arenal Montechiari!. I know all too well that the staff will go above and beyond to help their guests. Too make a long story short, I became very ill one night and my wife had to go for help. It was past midnight and the night security guard alerted the wonderful lady who runs the hotel. She came quickly, and had her son and the security guard carry me out to her car and raced me to a nearby clinic. She contacted a Dr. to meet us there and her and her son stayed with me and my wife till past 3:00 in the morning when they took us back to the hotel. They would not accept tips or payment in any way for all the extra they did for us. The hotel is family run and they treat you like you are part of their family. Besides this extra ordinary situation I can tell you that they also helped arrange tours, transportation etc.. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful with amazing views of the volcano. The location is great. It's only a block or two from the town square and you can easily walk it but if you choose not to its literally a dollar taxi ride. The huts have all been recently remodeled. Modern A/C units, flat screens with cable and new tile, furniture etc...The bungalows are small and simple - this is not the Ritz -but they are very clean, and modern. Breakfast was provided every morning and it was wonderful. Every guest I spoke with all had positive things to say with the only complaint being that Wi-Fi was only available in the hotel's main office but this seems to be pretty standard for small town Costa Rica. After all the Costa Rican hotel horror stories I had read online I can tell you that Arenal Montechiari is a wonderful beautiful place with an extra special staff. Pura Vida!"
