This place was awesome. It was a very large resort, resulting in tons of walking, but overall an exceptional experience. The hustlers by the beach can get annoying, but once you know not to mess with them it makes no difference. The resort pool is outstanding.

The food, location and staff were all spectacular. This place is HUGE. Thank goodness they provide shuttles/carts continuously. The beach is clean and beautiful . Tiny shells to the right , softer to the left. Depending on tide it may be rough at times for swimming. Tons of lizards and birds, finally saw some monkeys on our last day. (Go to the mango trees) Royal Beach Club was much more relaxing than busy larger main pool. Remember it gets dark at 6pm. Also, be sure to make your dinner reservat... Read more

We were at the resort with 6 people. The restaurants and food were all excellent. Our favorite was Faisanela. we also liked Bamboo and Mitra. The buffet for breakfast is also very good. All the pool bartenders were excellent. Jonathon at the Abalone bar at night is also excellent and handles the entire bar on his own some nights. Melvin the bellmen and Melvin the doormen always remembered my name and check on us daily. Pool activities were fun and so was the beach. Monkeys were fun to just watc... Read more

The location, beach, food, employees and trip adventures are awesome. We went to Nicaragua for a day and it was definitely a highlight and very recommended to others. A long day but so worth it. The volcano action was unbelievable, Granada was beautiful. Take the horse carriage ride through town for $10. A wonderful 30th anniversary trip.

The place was fantastic. It doesn't feel like a cookie cutter Westin, which I prefer. The grounds are expansive and lovely, the staff is wonderful, the food is good, and the activities are plentiful. We had a group of 20 so it was a good place to appease different tastes, opinions, etc. I don't understandthe very negative comments... at the end of the day, I think some people are just whiny and spoiled and like to complain.

I don't even know where to begin with this review! Our stay was absolutely amazing!! The unlimited amenities was well worth the price and the entire staff was awesome. The resort is beautiful and well kept with plenty of dining options. The bartenders were all very pleasant and with me not being much a drinker, I would tell them to surprise me with something fruity and preferably frozen and they never failed me. Drinks were awesome. My husband fell in love with the Green Iguana and the bartender... Read more

My wife and I stayed at The Westin Golf Resort and Spa, Playa Conchal June 24th thru June 30th 2016. This was our 3rd visit to this amazing resort. The reason why we call it amazing is due to the exceptional service provided by the staff. The staff at this resort really cares about our happiness and are attentive to our every need. You can tell that they love their jobs and want to provide exceptional service. Its all about the small things in life and the Westin has been able to provide this, n... Read more

We are here now with a family group of 17. Great pools at both the royal beach club and general area but in the general area pool chairs fill up by 10:30. Food is actually great considering you are basically on a cruise ship on land. The buffet lunch was excellent. I'm a wine lover and I'm not living the wine but we've found some to purchase for the room and switched to tropical drinks. The amazing part is the wildlife! We loved the Royal Beach package. The room was great & the concierge was very attentive and friendly, who takes the time to get to know you. The restaurants were pretty good and it was nice to have a variety. The resort and beach were clean and nice to relax at. The pools weren't always clean. It is great the resort provides chairs on the beach even though it is a public beach. The locals were not aggressive, as in other countries, in getting you to buy their goods. We booked two rooms at this Westin for two days. Immediately upon arrival, we learned that when they advertise all-inclusive, and make you pay for it, they do not REALLY mean it. The restaurants where you might want to eat have deliberately insufficient capacity, and are booked in advance so that after paying $2,200, you don't actually get to eat there at all. If what you had in mind was a nice sushi dinner, move along. Only the buffet is still available for your first night, and you get to choo... Read more

This was my first stay at a Westin hotel and I'm not sure if I'll stay at one again. My husband and I decided on the Westin for the first half of our Honeymoon in CR due to all the wonderful, positive reviews. I'm usually not too picky with my vacations and I've been on several (all-inclusive and a la cart) from Hawaii, to Mexico, to Italy. However, when it is our Honeymoon I definitely want to get what I'm paying for. Here are my complaints (and I'm usually NOT a complainer): - There is NO oce... Read more

Just arrived home from an 8 night stay at this resort. I can't say enough about the friendly service and clean rooms. My family of 4 ( 2 adults, 2 teens) stayed in the Deluxe Junior Suite..we wanted a room on the 2nd floor so we ended up pushing the 2 double beds together for my husband and myself. One teen was on the pullout couch and the other was on a roll away bed we requested at check-in. There was plenty of room for all of us! Traveled with 6 adults and 5 children. Resort was great. Pool was out of this world large, food was very good, and the beach is nice. We saw Monkeys in the trees along the beach on most days and plenty of iguanas. The actual rooms were nothing special, but we didn't come to spend time in the rooms. Would return without question.

The Westin Playa Conchal was our first repeat vacation. That is, we try never to stay at the same place twice. The fact we went back to the Westin is indicative of how much we enjoyed our stay. The Westin is located on Playa Conchal, billed as the most beautiful beach in Costa Rica. The beach is quite long, and the resort opens onto the beach near the rocky end. On this end, the beach is comprised of shells, so water shoes are helpful. Nothing wrong with this at all, and its reminiscent of... Read more

We attended a wedding at the Westin earlier this summer, so we stayed at the Westin for the purpose of attending the wedding and being near the other guests. Prior to staying at the Westin we stayed at a local AirBnb for a few nights to save money and to experience Costa Rica beyond an all inclusive. Because I had a very challenging time finding details elsewhere on the internet, let me explain. Reserva Conchal refers to the entire resort area around the Westin. Let's refer to this as Disney... We had a fabulous time at the Westin. It was a perfect ending to our Costa Rica vacation. After spending 4 days in the rain forest near Arenal, the dry beach was very welcome. The entire staff was incredibly nice from the moment we got there until we left. We spent the extra money and stayed at the Royal Beach Club, the adult only area of the property. If you are traveling without kids, you may want to consider it. Your own private concierge, adult only pool, premium liquors, and beautiful rooms... Read more

At first we were a bit put off by the sheer size of the resort ...but after settling in we changed our minds. It was not crowded, we got reservations at the restaurants of our choice every night and the pool bar always had room. It was a disappointment that it is a public beach, but it was not too crowded so it worked out. All of the restaurants were amazing, the breakfast had so many delicious choices -- including a make your own Bloody Mary bar! -- you never have to wait long for a shuttle rid... Read more

I stayed the first weekend in November. The forecast showed thunderstorms everyday but only rained one night. The property is gorgeous and huge but thank goodness they have shuttles to get you to your room and around the property. I stayed in a Royal room and that meant I had a private clubhouse and private adult only pool. I did get to see a standard deluxe jr suite and actually liked the looks of that room better. I can't say enough good things about the staff. Special shout out to Errol who ... Read more

This is a pretty standard Westin/resort. It has all that you would expect including; the heavenly bed (fantastic), lovely rooms, proximity to beach etc - but the thing that made it so good, I think, was the staff. All bar one, are bilingual, and all of them took the time to help me practice my Spanish - with good humour. They are friendly, welcoming, honest and really made the stay. Also - Coati's wander the resort, Iguana's and the most amazing birds...the beach is not crowded, the food is... Read more

The Westin Golf Resort & Spa is a nice "all-inclusive" hotel located at the large expanse of beach known as Playa Conchal and is a good choice for couples, singles, or families looking for a Costa Rica vacation. The sprawling resort has a bit of a confusing maze of room blocks, but once there for a bit you'll get the lay of the land without having to leave a bread crumb trail. We stayed in the Royal Beach Club section, which is adults-only (18+). The "Beach Club" is a bit of a misnomer, as thes... Read more

As usual will try to be short: 1) Location and the variety of fauna in the hotel is excellent and unforgettable. n the hotel you can see even more than in some trips outside of the hotel. 2) Rooms are not bad, but not everything is clean. Room service "unforgettable too" number 3 does not exist for them, (we are the family of three) so if you even receive to the room, for example the third glass or the third towel, it does not mean that you will find it in the room after cleaning. But dirty unde... Read more

Stayed there first week of November with friends. The food was so good!! Best anywhere. Lunch fire oven pizza or the Italian for dinner. The grounds are clean and the drinks are great! The staff are very friendly and the location is close to lots of things Downside to consider: Hotel is aging and not near as nice as Dreams (stayed there in Jan). The pool skimmer is not on at all during the day(they tell me it's safe). Which means bugs, hair and lotions are not filtered. So gro... Read more

Great room #4216.. Of all our travels to all-inclusive resorts this one ranks #1 in CUSTOMER SERVICE. The staff are the politest & friendliest we have ever encountered. If you ask the staff for anything they will do everything they can to make it happen. You want room service? Just call and it is delivered in a very timely manner, HOT & by a friendly server. We had one very small issue, brought it to their attention and unexpectedly received a complementary bottle of champagne at dinner which wa... Read more

This is a fabulous place. We loved it from beginning to end. The wildlife in the resort itself are abundant and treated with respect by the staff. The pool is lovely and relaxing with pool bars and ample loungers. The resort is on the beach which is not private, we liked this, it allowed a taste of Costa Rica, like anywhere you need to be safe but all the locals we met were friendly and helpful. There are several restaurants to choose from each night and we didn't have one bad experience, al... Read more

We stayed 14 nights from 7-21 November 2016. Wow! Not disappointed. I can't fault anything. We are 50-55 and like walking and doing our own thing on holiday. The resort is huge with on site free transport shuttles to ferry you about. We had a .5k walk to the restaurant from our apartment. We didn't mind the walk. There are hiking trails within the resort, ask the animation team, you can traipse about on your own, we did, it was beautiful, but not good if raining as it gets very muddy! All staff... Read more

The Westin in Playa Conchal was amazing. It is truly a gorgeous resort. The staff was so helpful the entire time and so friendly. They really wanted to make sure we had a great time. The bartenders were terrific, especially Jonathan, Carlos, Jeffrey, and the guys at the imperial bar. Silvia the hostess was super friendly and attentive. Overall, we had a great trip and can't wait to go back. We stayed at two other hotels in Costa Rica and the Westin was by far the best. The food, the amenities, t... Read more

I was lucky enough to stay here last week in Tower 1 at the Royal Beach Club The breakfast and lunch there was great. Something for all tastes I attempted to eat as healthy as I could which I managed most of the time The staff were excellent Raul and Jeffrey stood out but everyone was a credit to the resort. Real all inclusive (and I do recommend booking in the family club for extra services like being close to the swimming pool area, having a reserved area around the pool and a concierge tending to your needs), everything was well organized and we did not have to worry about anything (there are several restaurants at the Westin, one being a buffet, the other ones require a reservation and they were already programmed in advance for us: no need to take care of this either!), great location, amenitie... First of all the room we have 2212 was amazing! The only problem was not ready for us when we took over at 3pm missing the mini bar items and other stuff but minor issue. Beautiful beach and amazing service but the food was not a 5 star standard. Also I probably would like more options specially tipical foods not Western food that I can eat on a cheap buffet. Overall very expensive for the buck! If the quality of the food and options was better that could definitely make me feel like it's was w... Read more

We stayed at last week and had an amazing vacation. The grounds were beautiful and the food was excellent. Our room was gorgeous as well. A very special thank you to Julio Mora - he went above and beyond to make our vacation spectacular. He worked the pool area and kept our drinks full, brought us lunch and made us laugh every day. We all left saying that he made our vacation extra special. Julio is truly an asset to the Westin! Thank you for the amazing week!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. They always went out of their way to provide us with great service. Food and drinks were great. We are already planning our return trip.

We booked a stay of 6 days for our 38th anniversary. Costs Rica was about as I expected - a beautiful, tropical place with lovely people and very good food. But once you get off the resort property it is similar to every other Caribbean country I have visited - extreme poverty, street vendors in your face selling anything and everything, very poor roads and limited law enforcement officials. The Westin resort was ok - I would say it was ideal if you just want to hangout at the pool or in your... Read more

I'm not going to repeat the many accolades others have written before me for this resort but will make some observations. We went with a group of 38 arriving one day after Hurricane Otto swept through. The area didn't experience much damage, thankfully, but many cancellations due to Otto left the resort fairly quiet which suited us just fine. First, let me clarify for those who haven't been to many all inclusive's, a five star rating for them is different to regular, world wide hotels. You cann... Read more
