I stayed in this hotel recently and had a good stay. The rooms were a good size and well kept. However the hotel was difficult to navigate e.g. I was told there were a number of swimming pools but was only ever able to find one of them! The beach was ok but there are better beaches in the area e.g. Playa conchal The breakfast was disappointing as the staff allowed for birds to sit on the bread table and eat the bread. I did not want to share my food with the birds.... Overall- I thought it w... Read more

Check in took forever. Shower head defective and came off in my hand. Sink kept filling with water and took maintenance 3 days to fix it. Disgusting hair in shower when I checked in and the bathroom STINKS of urine. Shower too hot or too cold and the water does not adjust as you are attempting to turn faucet. . Lights have been out for over 3 hours now and they are still trying to fix it. Wi-Fi reception is hit-and-miss also. If you are a drunk college kid though, this place will be fine.

We had a ocean view room on the 1st floor. Pro: 1. Right on the beach, we could see the ocean on our porch, and walk few hundred feet and be in the water. 2. Location location location! Right in the middle of the action of all the shops and restaurants. 3. Clean room, house keeping was spot on and never missed a beat. 4. Security at the gate 24 hours a day. Cons: 1. We did not have any hot water the 4 days we stayed. Seems to be a issue with this hotel. 2. Extremely slow check in process. To... Read more

Great resort with the convenience of being right in the town of Tamarindo and also on the beach. Staff was very pleasant and very obliging. No need to go anywhere else as this resort is in very close proximity to lovely restaurants. We enjoyed our stay very much. No complaints. Breakfast was included and the variety was good not to mention the delicious coffee. Very generous as they just left the whole pot of coffee and milk on your table and if you needed more the wait staff was right ther... Read more

We visited Tamarindo after La Fortuna (Arenal Volcano). The hotel services upgraded our room to ocean-side with beach view/access. The hotel tour service supports are the best...they worked with us and proved the best deals for excursions. The hotel restaurant reheat our leftover food from dinner (Pantagonia Grill) without issue.

This was a very nice place to vacation. If you are looking for a resort type vacation with great scenery this is a good choice. It's right in the middle of town and within easy walking distance to the better dining places. I recommend eating at the local restaurants for the best food.

We stayed on the lagoon side of the road and had a second floor room with views of the family friendly pool. Check in was smooth (arrived at around 1pm) and were taken straight to our room. We have stayed in numerous hotels around the world so we don't have expectations too high or low - nor do we take other extreme reviews into account until we arrive. The room (room 714) was clean and neat and a good size and the bed was comfortable. We do tend to look at structural details of places and found... Read more

We spent a week on the beach side of the Diria Resort in Tamarindo. The hotel grounds are very clean and very well manicured. There is a lot of wildlife found simply by opening your hotel room door. In one hour we saw 5 iguanas, 6 multi-colored squirrels and a howler monkey ! Breakfast was included and had what seemed to be the locals steady diet of eggs, rice & beans, plantains (mmm mmm good!) and fresh, hot coffee. Pancakes, cereal, yogurts, fresh fruit and juices were also available. Buffet ... Read more

The location was great, on the beach, in the middle of town. There are 4 pools which is great for the kiddos! Breakfast is included and it's huge! We did not enjoy our rooom, it was dark without any views (a basic room). We spent one day checking out beaches along the coast and recommend Playa Conchal-one of the nicest beaches we've been too and we've traveled to lots of nice beaches. Its about 15 minutes north of Tamarindo by car. Tamarindo is fun for a night, but beware of the guys on all ... Read more

This was the third location on our trip and we booked because from the brochure it looked like a quiet location by the ocean but close enough to the restaurants/shops if required. We booked an ocean facing room and from the photo thought the road was far enough away not to hear the noise. How wrong can you be. The room we were given on the first floor had the front door overlooking the road and extremely noisy. The room was very nice and the view to the ocean exceptional but even in the room you... On arrival at the hotel, after an 11 hour flight from England, my mum and I were warmly welcomed by the very friendly and helpful reception staff. We stayed in a twin bed room at the Lagoon Village, which thankfully had very comfortable beds. It has beautiful, scenic pool views, and is away from the main street, so wasn't too noisy. Make sure to put the aircon on as when you open the windows/doors, the heat hits you and it is a relief to walk into a cool room (and I like HOT!). The hotel gardens... Read more

After arriving and having stayed here 2 days, I can only give this hotel 2 stars. I have traveled all over the world and seen hotels pretty much in every corner of the world. The Diria has a nice set-up and the staff is very friendly. The proximity to the beach and the clean grass covered area under the palm trees stand out. But the hotel is minimal infrastructure and the service lacks basics. After arriving we noticed that our toilet was continuously running water. The front desk was prompt to ... Read more

unusual in that half of the hotel is on one side of the street, and the other half on the other, even though they have someone to stop traffic for pedestrians it can get dicey. we were on the pool side, not overlooking the ocean, and our room was on the 2nd floor w no elevators, also very far away from the front entrance. found it off-putting to have to go across the street for breakfasts, or drinks & a beautiful sunset, the breakfast buffets were very very good. found the same problem w bar he... My first review was admittedly too critical. The room and noise were frustrating. That said, we really had a fantastic time staying here. The view from our room was outstanding. Waking and looking at the beach was fantastic. We really loved the town of tamarindo and found it was very walkable with great food options. One recommendation is to make reservations in advanced. All and all, I would return.

We chose to stay here based on the recommendation of friends who had stayed here before and we could not have been happier! There were 5 of us and we were lucky enough to a 2 room suite with 2 double beds in one room with a pull out sofa bed and a kitchen area in the other room which gave us quite a bit of space to spread out. We stayed on the lagoon side which was fine. The family pool over there is very nice and we didn't mind walking across the street the to beach area. And when I say stre... Read more

The location of the Tamarindo Diria is great and probably can't be beat. There's ocean access from the hotel, lovely pools, and well manicured grounds. It's on the main strip so there's easy access to restaurants and shops. The kids loved it. However, it is noisy (even in low season) and we resorted to ear plugs to sleep due to loud music from nearby bars/restaurants, along with hotel guests coming in late from partying. My husband an I stayed here during the last leg of our honeymoon. The negative was at initial check in. I had booked a Tropicana room only to be checked in to a Laguna Room without ANY notice until I questioned the front desk staff. I was never notified (and my honeymoon was booked since the winter) and I was also told that the Lagoon room was an upgrade, which is was not. My husband and I did not want to make a fuss but th... Nice swimming pools but the hotel has a beach side and across the street, a pool side and you're only supposed to use the pool on the side you're staying on. Tamarindo was the most Americanized location on our week long vacation. The hotel staff was so helpful and hospitable. We had issues with one of our rooms which they happily accommodated. The breakfast is a cannot miss so definitely choose the option if you can. We stayed on the beach side and our "porch" lead directly to the beach which was perfect to catch the sunset while lying in bed. Shopping and restaurants are all within walking distance which is really convenient.

The staff was very attentive and pleasant. We stayed in a comfortable clean room. Main staff at the restaurants and front desk spoke "clear" english. Be cautious and aware of your surroundings at the beach, a week after we stayed a crocodile (Coco) injured a tourist. We used the "adult" pool and it was very nice and quiet.

Tamarindo is a cool and fun beach town with a great vibe, and the Tamarindo Diria is right in the middle of it on the beach.
