I wish I had known before hand about the outrageous numbers of biting and stinging insects in the area. My wife and I were literally eaten alive. I left there today with with an unbelievable number of stings and bite. I stopped counting at 50. The resort itself is perfectly situated, close to the national park and loaded with amenities for hotel guests. We took advantage of the hot springs every day. The quality of the food in the restaurant was good. The rooms were adequate although we had no... Read more

This is for the river tubing only. My children are strong swimmers, and we have all rafted Class 2 and 3 rapids before. We all surf, paddle board, and raft in the Pacific and in the Sierra Nevada. The river tubing was marketed as class 2 and 3. The day we were there they were Class 3 and 4. The Guachipelin guides told everyone in the group that the river was higher than normal due to recent mountain rains, but that we would all be o.k. Never once did they warn us that these would be Class ... Read more

This little resort is very close to Liberia, and can be reached in under 45 minutes on paved roads from the Liberia airport. It comprises ~50 rooms in long, one-storey buildings loosely arranged around an open green area. There is a small but nice, secluded feeling swimming pool. There is one restaurant on site that is open for 3 meals a day with both buffet and a la carte options. The property is well known for its on-site "adventure centre" that offers horseback riding, zip lining, and river t... Read more

What a beautiful hotel tucked in a beautiful location with many fun things to do. Don't skip the thermal springs, absolutely wonderful! I will be back again for sure. Food was very good and the variety was plentiful.

This hotel is in one of the national parks in Costa Rica. We where there for two days of adventures. The rooms are basic but comfortable, the food we thought was expensive and not to our taste but we were there for a reason. The tours horse riding brilliant horses were so well behaved could have gone on for a few hours more. White Water Tubing, not for the faint hearted, our friend hurt her leg on the first rapid. Zip wiring through the jungle was brilliant and loved the mud baths and hot s... Read more

Shared a wall with a Costa Rica couple. They were quiet and well behaved. Good location to access the national park! However... Why did I not read between the lines and see this was a Disneyland like zoo. Not for me at all. Required to wear a bracelet? Why? I forfeited one of our nights and left one day early. That's how much I disliked "the scene." Tried briefly to get money back for this one night. Realized I wasn't going to get that or even a concern or question as to why I would want to leav... Stayed here two nights over Christmas and were relegated to two rooms adjacent to the horse stable, which becomes active and loud before dawn. We could spit on the horses from our rooms, which were comfortable and clean (the rooms that is), but as others have said, come with paper thin walls. Unless you like sleeping with horses and your neighbors, ask for a room closer to the pool. Food was buffet all you can eat, so a trade-off from fine dining, but well done and sufficient variety. No o... Read more

On the plus side: + thermal hot sping is included + Staff at check-in and - out very friendly and helpful + bed was big, high and comfortable + pillows were too high but we got lower ones upon request + clean and spacious room + Wifi worked in the room + TV with many channels + coffee making facility in the room + breakfast was buffet-style and good and plenty + Landscape, pool area, surrounding - totally overpriced value for money! Room was not worth for what you get: room next to stables and... Read more

I've traVelez to Costa Rica many times, each time visiting a different province and region. This was my first time visiting the most northern region of Guanacaste, flying into Liberia. SO NICE! compared to San Jose airport. It was just a short drive from the airport to Hacienda Guachipelin (56 minutes with traffic). Just on the edge of the Rincon de La Vieja National Volcano park, the area is a dry forest (compared to rain forest). I come to Costa Rica for the outdoor adventure and this hotel is... Read more

The staff was helpful and courteous, location absolutely astounding, room was ridiculously huge. The food was very very fresh and well prepared. The hot springs and mud were fun. The waterfalls were stunning, water tubing was refreshing, zipping was exhilarating. This place is a MUST and I'm very glad to have taken my son there. DO NOT WEAR HEELS and don't try their ironing service unless maybe for a simple shirt. They did a terrible job on my dress when I asked for pressing service as I was hea... Read more
