Previous reviews did not like the breakfast, yes they do not change it much maybe new juice or fruit but otherwise it was great food!! Not many options can be changed from breakfast food?..the other food we ordered during the day was fresh, good and decent priced. The Chalet was amazing recommend staying there if possible it is far from the main lodge but worth it, definitely would stay here again!!

Lodge: If you want a real Costa Rican experience, you stay here. It's in the middle of a 2,000-acre farm. Although, it could use some updates here and there, it is the very first hotel in the area and is the reason it's the tourist spot it is. So it has great history for the area. There are other American-owned luxury hotels in the area, but you can get that in America. The owner works the bar every night, he was born and raised there and is a wealth of information. He was very helpful picking ... Read more

My family really enjoyed our stay at Arenal Lodge. We were literally in a rain forest paradise. The view is amazing. It is 20 minutes away from the nearest town where you can find almost anything you need. Renting a vehicle is necessary if you going to stay here. The restaurant has great food and friendly staff. My only recommendation would be to change up the breakfast options every day or two for variety. Would definitely love to go back.

This hotel is Rustic, the porch is awesome and the view amazing! The staff extremely friendly! The food is pretty basic! They need more cultural dishes as American food can be bought at home! At least do a few dishes as options for visitors who want to experience the culture! It's expensive or impossible to get anywhere! The hotel needs to run a more affordable shuttle! Be prepared for rain....... Pack pants the dampness can make it feel chilly at that elevation! The only negative I had ... Read more

Depends on what room you get - some have views of the volcano, some don't. We stayed this time (our second visit), and had floor to ceiling views of the volcano. We would sit on the couch and just watch the rain pour down, the hawks fly around looking for prey, the little birds fly near the window to their next in the eaves. We hiked along the private hiking trails to the creek, and watched various wild animals around the property. The pool and Jacuzzi were beautiful, and the flora and fauna c... Read more
