Our flight to SJO was a day late due to volcanic activity and we were frustrated with cancellation charges and sunk costs, so decided to not pre-book for this night, The airport has no real information desk, so finding a place on short notice with a bad wifi connection was challenging, but we went with Adventure Inn because of the tripadvisor ratings and the advertised hotel shuttle. The manager on the desk when we called was excellent - helped us track down a shuttle, and talked to us a couple ... Read more

A bit different (weird) but does the job. Reasonable price, includes breakfast and an airport shuttle. Make sure you check the shuttles availability the night before! Can't just show up in the morning. It's decor is a bit weird but I'd stay there again for the value. Dinner nights before was good, Mexican burger. Also craft beers. Air conditioners in room are a bit noisy. Has pool and hot tub as well.

Was on the way home to Canada, when flight was cancelled due to volcano. When searching hotels, adventure inn was the only hotel that didn't gouge prices. When we showed up, we were so pleasantly surprised by the great helpful staff. Comfy clean rooms. And great pool area. And great sad neighbourhood. Close to airport. We ended up being stuck for a week. The adventure inn made it a pleasure instead of a burden. Will definitely stay there every visit from this point on.

5/5 for this hotel because it's such a great sanctuary when you first arrive in Costa Rica and a welcome retreat before you leave. It's still dated like most of the hotels in this country but the service is amazing! The service starts as soon as you book. Book directly through the hotel and you'll receive lots of useful information via email, including a discount if you pay with cash. The airport bus transfers are free and the airport is close by. We also booked our hire car through the Advent... Read more

Our flight landed too late to drive up to La Fortuna, and I didn't want to stay near the airport so I booked a night here. So glad I did!!!! The hotel manager was beyond helpful and even arranged for my rental car. The cafe servers are friendly and outgoing, the pool and view were awesome and the room was just fine for a night or two. I would definitely recommend.

We stayed at the Adventure Inn twice during our stay in Costa Rica as it conveniently close to the airport. Being from Canada, we loved the fact we could support hotel owners Mike and Eric Robinson who hail from Canada too. Mike and Eric were extremely responsive to all our emails. They helped arrange a rental car, the Interbus shuttle to/from airport, directions to the hotel, etc. Staff were warm, gracious and helpful. A warm breakfast is included daily. Modest, very clean rooms. This is an i... Read more

There's a whole lot of 5 star reviews on this place - which I'm not really sure why. For the price, this place is pretty good. It's a convenient location if you're landing in San Jose and need somewhere to stay for a night. However, the rooms are clearly dated and could use a little renovation (new paint on the doors, moulding, etc). What really shocked me is how so many people were boasting about the amazing food at their restaurant, when in reality the food was mediocre at best. My husband or... Read more

This is one place we stayed that we would like to rate as good but not quite good enough to qualify for very good. Unfortunately trip advisor doesn't have an in-between average and very good. The included transfer from the airport was great and saved any messing around once we arrived. All of the staff were very helpful, the food was good both in the evening and at breakfast. The part that let this place down was the room which was just a little and a fridge which was very noisy. There is not a... Read more

We stayed here after a long day of travel, landing at San Jose. The free shuttle is great to the hotel, though we had a hard time finding it (it was in the parking garage). The room slept the 5 of us comfortably since it had 3 beds - one of the reasons I booked the room. It was a little dark and outdated but sufficed. The room faced the computer room and gym which made us feel a little strange coming out into a public space, and it was loud when someone was in the gym. It was also loud since the... Read more

I just can't say enough good things about The Adventure Inn. The staff in every area from the front desk to the restaurant to the housekeeping staff are helpful, friendly and efficient. The free breakfast is wonderful and you get your choice to pick from on their menu. The rooms are large and spacious and have all the amenities you need including a flat screen TV, coffee, internet, free international calling, and in some rooms a huge jetted bathtub. They also have a link on their website to ... Read more
