My Boyfriend and I arrived to the SJO airport through a Nature Air plane coming form Drake Bay, Costa Rica so we got dropped off in a different location at the airport. I told the hotel how we would be arriving in my reservation of the hotels shuttle bus ahead of time but when we got there no one was there. I called the hotel after waiting for 30min to ask what type of shuttle I should look for and where I should stand and the person on the other end told me "open your eyes" and I heard laughter... The room was just fine! All the amenities you'd want plus a buffet breakfast (or a breakfast to go if you are leaving before 6:00 a.m.). Nice outdoor pool. They offer a free shuttle to/from the airport that runs on time and is terrific. Outstanding English-speaking front desk. No elevator!

To begin with, my wife is less a fan than I am. She prefers ritzy, I prefer, shall we say, budget. On our first visit here the airline was late, And our shuttle was nowhere to be found. Nobody at the shuttle service bothered to check arrival status, it seems. Still the attractiveness of the Adventure Inn cost and benefits prompted me to try again. This time the shuttle was waiting as advertised. The trip to the hotel was good. This time we got a ground floor room. Great since we had so mu... Read more

Some friends and I stayed at this hotel overnight in order to fly out the next day. This hotel is not a chain and it shows it's quirks at times. For example, the shuttle from the airport just didn't turn out well for us and we needed to prod a little to schedule the shuttle for the following morning. But the staff did come through. We appreciated the free wi-fi, free phone calls from our room and the complimentary breakfast the following morning. Macadamia nut pancakes were excellent as is the p... Read more

Adventure Inn is perfect in every way for a Costa Rican feeling hotel in San Jose. It´s super close to the airport (has a free shuttle to and from), great restaurant (breakfast is amazing), comfortable beds and pillows, pool, hot tub, gym...and my absolute favorite part is the way that the entire hotel is painted inside and out. Each room is painted differently and really gives you that tropical happy feeling! It´s worth coming to this hotel just to see the artwork besides the fact that it... Read more

My friend and I stayed two nights at Adventure Inn during the last leg of our trip. We chose Adventure Inn because it was near the airport and provided a good point for a tour pickup on our last full day in Costa Rica. The hotel is a little outdated but very clean. The staff were all so accommodating and friendly. The breakfast (which was included) was very good and restaurant staff were also very hospitable explaining all the fruits we were not familiar with. The rooms are nothing fancy but the... Read more

Being very close to the Airport is not the greatest quality of this hotel - which is the best we stayed at in Costa Rica. It is the wonderful reception and service from a very friendly and knowledge staff that makes it stand out. This combined with the large and well appointed rooms, great food and a true Costa Rican ambiance makes it the perfect first and last stop in San Jose.

We decided to get closer to the airport for our last night in Costa Rica. The Adventure Inn was wonderful. It was a terrific end to our vacation. The entire establishment was very clean and the restaurant was delicious. The staff were all very helpful and very courteous. After making our reservations we received a very detailed email from the owner. The price was VERY reasonable (almost sounded too good to be true) but it was true. And the breakfast that was included was amazing. My husban... Read more

Best customer service ever! Really enjoyed beginning and ending our trip at Aventure Inn. Everyone was so great and the emails from Eric shows he truly cares about his guests. He emailed me about my mistake I made on the airport shuttle reservation and took care of it for me. Front desk gal was very nice and helpful giving us directions to a grocery store nearby. Highly recommended!

We flew in San Jose and stayed at the Adventure Inn our first night and our last night of honeymoon. It was a great hotel, but what set it apart was the customer service. One of the workers, Marco, answered all of our questions and arranged all our transportation. He went above and beyond what we could have expected. He helped us to visit the Land of the Strays - Territorio de Zaguates on very short notice and also helped us have dinner on our last night at a very romantic restaurant overloo... Read more

We stayed at the Adventure Inn the first and last day we were in Costa Rica. We had a great stay! The rooms are very nice with fun decoration, the beds very comfortable, we stayed in a jacuzzi room. We didn't use the pool, but it looks nice. I really enjoyed my fish with lemon sauce in the restaurant/bar. I love the benefit of the shuttle to and from the airport, when we arrived I wasn't quite sure where to go to get the shuttle. When you go outside the airport it's an overwhelming amount of peo... Everyone at this hotel was helpful and friendly! We stayed with our 3 children and the staff were accommodating and went above and beyond :) The pool was refreshing, but gently heated for a comfortable swim. The room was spacious and clean. You must try the food at the restaurant--it was amazing! I recommend the Arroz con Pollo! Also, the free breakfast was fantastic! They were all so thoughtful, when we had to leave around 430am to catch our plane home, they packed a light breakfast to g... Read more

I just had to take a moment to write this review. Until today, we were booked for a Dec. stay at the Adventure Inn. Due to a family issue, I had to contact them today to cancel. I just wanted the readers to know that the owner, Eric, was so helpful in taking care of not only the cancellation at the hotel, but the transportation, and excursions that we had booked as well. He and his staff had already been so helpful in assisting us in choosing the right excursions and making arrangements for ... Read more

I spent two nights at the beginning of my trip to Costa Rica at the Adventure Inn, and then again the night before I flew home. This hotel is very comfortable, clean and safe. There is a nice pool enclosed in a courtyard so you can sit out there anytime of day or night. The restaurant is very good and the breakfasts are delicious! All of the staff were friendly and professional, from the reception staff who ensure quick and efficient check in and delivery of your luggage to your room, to the... Read more

We booked the hotel from the UK and the communication from the hotel back to us was excellent, we got a few very detailed e mails guiding us about various things in Costa Rica and we found this information invaluable. They even offered to help arrange car hire for us but suggested we use their shuttle from the airport (it would have been a tricky drive to find this place in the dark) and they would organise the car for the following morning. Brilliant advice thank you. We got into San Jose near... Read more

This hotel is very old and unappealing. I don't know how it got high reviews. The location is in the middle of nowhere. The beds and pillows were uncomfortable and the staff was unaccommodating. As soon as we saw the hotel we regretted booking it. We had the two soups on the menu and they were disgusting! Worst food we had in Costa Rica. Stay away.

I loved Adventure Inn. I am a female and this was my first time traveling out of the country on my own. The people at Adventure were just the sweetest. They were friendly without being intrusive. I wanted to do tours, which they offer a lot of, and the gentleman at desk was amazing. He scheduled everything for me and I had the best times on these tours. I felt safe and cared for. The women at the desk were extremely helpful and when I told them I wanted to take a walk around the area, they gave ... Read more

Very convenient to the airport, free shuttle is reliable. Staff was very attentive and helpful. We even got a lift from an elderly gentleman when he heard we wanted to get to a nearby (by car) store before it closed, as he was driving an employee in the same direction. The rooms were clean and roomy, the decorative touches very nice. Enjoyed the hot tub and the food.

Our Yoga Retreat group stayed at The Adventure Inn before and after our retreat in Puerto Viejo. Some of us stayed for two nights in the beginning and some one night. It was the perfect place to land after a very long flight and again, after a very long drive back from the Southern Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica! The fact that it's located so close to the airport made it very convenient. The transfers to and from were all taken care of and very easy. The rooms are very clean and huge! It has the... Read more

We came across the Adventure Inn in 2009 when we were planning our first trip to Costa Rica. It is close to the airport and their shuttle service is very reliable and takes a lot of stress off of you starting your vacation. Adventure Inn was a perfect place for us to stay for our first and last night in CR. Other than the staff, the thing I love most about the Inn is the classic Costa Rican feeling with the modern comforts that most tourists find at home. Why travel to CR to stay in a high priced hotel that feels like every other overpriced hotel in the US? We had family down the road at the DoubleTree and it was super nice, but not a place I would ever stay while in CR. I found the Inn to be very safe and comf... Read more

We spent our first night in San Jose, Costa Rica at Adventure Inn. It is a boutique hotel about 10 minutes from the airport. It is very nice and clean. The staff was very friendly and the buffet breakfast included in the price was delicious. I really recommend this nice hotel. From this hotel, we hired a private driver who took us to Arenal Lodging and Spa. He charged us $180. It was a drive of over 3 hours, so we thought the price was reasonable.

The hotel was lovely; rooms clean, spacious and well equipped and there was a bar, restaurant and pool. The staff were friendly and helpful.. what more do you need after a long flight? Even before we arrived, I was impressed with the genuine kindness and helpfulness of Eric as we emailed back and forth months before our arrival. The shuttle was stress-free and I should not have been surprised that all the staff were just as helpful as Eric. I have travelled a bit and I have never come across such uniformly great hotel staff. We took advantage of the pool both stays. I needed laundry done, the notice says will have it back by afternoon, it was done in a couple hours did not have to wait all day. We stayed here after a long day of travel, landing at San Jose. The free shuttle is great to the hotel, though we had a hard time finding it (it was in the parking garage). The room slept the 5 of us comfortably since it had 3 beds - one of the reasons I booked the room. It was a little dark and outdated but sufficed. The room faced the computer room and gym which made us feel a little strange coming out into a public space, and it was loud when someone was in the gym. It was also loud since the... Read more

This is one place we stayed that we would like to rate as good but not quite good enough to qualify for very good. Unfortunately trip advisor doesn't have an in-between average and very good. The included transfer from the airport was great and saved any messing around once we arrived. All of the staff were very helpful, the food was good both in the evening and at breakfast.
