This hotel, which is fairly new as of April 2016, is well thought out with a nice pool and close by bar. The bartender grows his own mint in the planters, so the monitors are divine. The rooms all have balconies so you can have that indoor outdoor feel. The bathroom layout is odd, with the sink a distance from the toilet, but if you're sharing with someone having the toilet in its own cubicle is handy. Food in the restaurant was tasty and appetizing and the staff helpful and response. All in... Read more

We could not have picked a better hotel for Santa Marta. After having been here you will understand why. It is out of the hustle and bustle of Santa Marta which is a busy and crowded city. Yes we had to take taxis to get places but at the end of the day the beach was much nicer and it was nice to be not crowded in the city. Taxis are cheap anyway. The hotel is new so everything is clean and modern. The rooms were very, very nice and well appointed and we had a beautiful view of the ocean. The be... Read more

The hotel is beautiful, new and modern. The staff goes above and beyond to help and make you happy. The food is great. The breakfast could be better, but it was good. If you don't speak Spanish, you may need a dictionary. And the balcony needs a handle from the outside. I've been in santa marta many times, in many different hotels but this one is by far my new favorite. Definitely coming back as soon as possible.

We stayed here for one night after doing the Cuidad Perdida hike and wanted somewhere decent to chill. The hotel is located some distance from central Santa Marta in a development of resort hotels. It is operated to a high standard , but is very much a resort hotel catering to family groups and if you are not in that demographic it might be better to go for something more central in Santa Marta where you can get out and about.

We got lucky to find this place. An employee in Cartagena told about this new french Hotel in Santa Marta, where we were driving too in a rented car. The ride from Cartagena to Santa Marta in our rental was fantastic! On our way, we passed through Baranquilla for quick shopping of artisan items. Hotel Mercure was just built 6 months ago. I stayed in two different rooms, upgrading from the 6th floor, to the 14th floor for my last two days. Both rooms appeared as if nobody had ever used them befor... Read more
