The name Wyndham has a quality attached to it that I did not find in Shanghai. It is not up to the quality of other hotels in China that I stayed in. Don't have free wifi except in the lobby and the reception was ... bad. The heating control was useless. The front desk were ultimately helpful, but somehow grudgidly (there is an attitude problem) Breakfast was decent (if one does not compare with other s) Were went for a walk in the morning through the neighborhood (walking through the street beh... This must have been a very nice hotel years ago but it's a bit run down with some mold in the showers, peeling paint, stains on the lamp shades, staying rugs, etc. The rooms were quite large with nice size tub, shower and separate toilet area. The beds are pretty hard. English TV choices are few - like one channel (not BBC) and the remote doesn't work well from your bed so you have to get closer to the TV. Wifi is not free in your room but it is in the lobby area although it is very, very slow.... Read more

This was the last hotel we stayed at in China after two weeks touring and it was very disappointing. Free wifi in the lobby area only and we only managed to connect once in two days. Our TV set had been disconnected but when we rang, someone came to our room immediately to sort it out. The air conditioning in most of the guest rooms (we were with a tour group) was very hot and only worked properly when we complained. The hotel is slowly being refurbished and some rooms were better than others. W... Read more

We stayed 2 nights in this hotel as the last part of our Nexus China tour. The room was very nice, spacious, modern and clean. The bathroom was big with a separate toilet. The breakfast was very good with lots of choices, but the room was very crowded and it was difficult to find a free table. There were some problems however. The air conditioning was too hot and could not get changed. We couldn't switch the lights in the bathroom off and as there were glass doors our room was quite light all ni... Read more

Stayed here just this week as part of a tour group. Big rooms with an excellent bathroom which had its own Tv. Good breakfast but had to go down to foyer to use wifi or pay for it in the room.very close to the centre of the city and close to Bund and river.

My wife and I stayed here as part of a Sinorama Vacations tour of China. This clearly was the best of the accommodations that we experienced during this trip. Apart from being a little out of the way from the downtown area, I have no issues at all with the Wyndham Bund East. Our room was modern and quite spacious. We did walk around the neighbourhood and felt perfectly safe doing so at night and during the day when the markets were open. Our meals here were limited to breakfasts. Like the ot... Read more

It ia supposed to be 5*. No free wifi on the rooms only the lobby, boutique has good prices but not much to choose from. Dont order martinis in the bar, they have no idea how to prepare them and the "liquor" was not tasting how it should, we suspect a Chinese version of the stuff. The room smells like tabaco. I stayed two night here on different rooms, choose the executive suite, the other one was just... Average.

No free Wi-Fi in the room. Wi-Fi in the lobby. Breakfast buffet was sub-par compared to other hotels I've stayed at in China. Also had issues with the bar. There was only enough gin for two martinis - no vodka - and no Coca Cola for a Cuba Libra. Also no local beer, just Budweiser.

So some 70 of us visited Shanghai from Australia on a nexus tour...good tour...and stayed at the Wyndham Hotel in the bund region...note there are two Wyndham hotels. Anyway ours had seen better days and been allowed to deteriorate..currently it is 2016... But I see they are doing the place up...room by room. But anyway the whole trip was very inexpensive so I'm not complaining...the hotel is near the shops, it has lots of facilities...some of which break down..and no internet in the room unless... Stayed in this hotel on penultimate night of our china tour with sinorama. The worst hotel we stayed in during our visit and was situated in a run down area. Cost of drinks in the bar were extortionate (when you could make the bar staff understand what you wanted) the hotel had no red wine and a substitue white wine was served in a shot glass the cost of the wine and a beer was about the equiverlent of 20 pounds sterling The breakfast was awfull fried eggs were cold and standing in congealed fat... Beautiful hotel, grand lobby (marble, chandeliers), new and fresh. Our rooms were perfect! Two very comfortable beds, tea/coffee service in the room, good quality white bed linens, very clean and modern. Bathroom just exquisite: marble, modern, bath and separate separate shower. Beautiful views from our 4th floor room. Very spacious lobby area, gift shop, restaurants, bar/lounge and breakfast area. We loved the breakfast: biggest buffet selection of our whole trip. Mall nearby. Can happil... Read more

Stay for two nights. I was traveling with Sinorama Tour group. The hotel was adequate for sleeping purposes. No English Channels in the room it was boring. The hotel is in a bad neighborhood. I could've overlooked all this deficiencies however what really got under my skin was the lack of customer service which was evident throughout my stay. Just their attitude really sucks. This had nothing to do with me not being able to speak Chinese or them not being able to communicate with me in English.... Read more

Location is somewhat remote from the Bund itself but a few detours take you on the bridge located next to the premises and over into the heart of the city. Room here was large, clean and with a great view of one the the last remaining "old quarters" into that part of Shanghai located right next to the facility. Breakfast was quite Ok with us, and perhaps the only negative here is the lack of internet access, even in the lobby area at times.

This hotel was absolutely filthy dirty, our room was a smoking room when non smoking was requested and even the bed smelt of cigarette smoke. Thankfully we only had to endure two nights here however it was most unpleasant. The restaurant area for buffet breakfast was grubby and grimy, nothing was wiped over and the staff were very slow and unmotivated compared to our previous hotel in Beijing which was spectacular and super clean. As part of a tour group with couples aged from their mid twenties... Read more

We stayed as part of a tour group, and found the hotel wanting. Staff had broken English, which we could live with. Smoking is permitted everywhere in hotel, which we complained about, smoke filled room was not pleasant. food was acceptable, views great. Wi-Fi only available in hotel lobby, and then very patch, with frequent drop outs. A disappointment after other places we had stayed at in China. The fact you had to buy a swimming cap to go for a swim, was inconvenient.

We stayed here as part of a tour group. I enjoyed the hotel and its facilities. The rooms were a decent size, the beds comfortable, the bathroom facilities were clean and good working order. I liked that there was an iron and hair dryer in the room which has not been the case in other Chinese hotels. Breakfast was not the best. The was no orange juice, and not much variety for westerners. My son enjoyed the swimming pool.

Stayed at hotel with Nexustour group. Further out from the Central part of the city but as we did not have much free tie it did not matter. Close to many converging roads but big room, quiet and comfortable bed.Good buffet breakfast. Staff would benefit from being able to converse in some basic English greetings.

I just realized that I have not done a review of this hotel where we stayed November 2015. We were on a Sinorama tour and stayed here for two nights. Don't be misguided by the name of the hotel because it's no where near the main Bund area. It was OK for us because we did not need to find our way around town being with a tour but if you are here on your own, a hotel closer to the center of Shanghai would be better. There are a lot of shopping places and restaurants in the area including a big ma... Read more

We were touring with Nexus. Our room was a triple on Level 15. The room smelt of stale smoke but we were only going to be there for two nights. There was no wifi except in the lobby. Breakfast was cold and not very good. To use the pool you need a swimming cap so pack your own. Room needed some TLC. The hotel was surrounded by local housing and small local businesses. The only good thing about this hotel was the view.

Located in a VERY poor area of the city. Was probably a good hotel 10 years ago and is in the process of upgrading. Rooms were comfortable and spacious but although meant to be non smoking, our room certainly did smell of smoke. Staff were not too friendly or helpful and the food for breakfast was the worst in our tour! There was plenty of it but the quality left a lot to be desired. Good facilities but again due to the nature of our tour, we had little time to enjoy. Would not return!!!!
