Hotel is located convenience place to walk to Jiang An temple and all shoppings and restaurants. Hotel building is unique that it is not modern building, using the old Chinese house bricks. Room is spacious, but bathroom can be larger. Bathtub is comfortable size. This pace is good for couple. It is hiding place to relax and enjoy the quite couple time.

We had an excellent 4 night stay at URBN. The hotel is beautifully designed with reclaimed materials from the former French concession area and has a gorgeous courtyard. The location is great in Jing'An on a beautiful tree-lined street filled with restaurants, cafes and shops. The staff were very helpful with great suggestions and they really went above and beyond to make sure we had an excellent stay. We were considering staying at one of the big international hotels, but we're very happy that ... Read more

Admit that when I arrived at the airport in Shanghai I was worried as we drove through miles of daunting apt towers. Arriving at Urbn with its tree lined avenues and green parks and boutique cafes, I was immediately relieved. The hotel was perfect with its garden restaurant, green spaces, and just beautiful rooms with special touches....big open bath in bedroom, great luxury toiletries, fabulous massive shower, lovely linens, and great service. The concierge was excellent and gave detailed assis... Read more

It's a very cool spot in Shanghai, nice location and pleasant urban garden, rooms are spacious and original and quality of sleep is good. Unfortunately cleaning was a bit deceiving, floor far from being impeccable, some hairs around, not adequate to international standards It could be a great location otherwise

Room: nice, hip room with great amenities, comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. Location: located in Jingan near many shopping malls and hip new cafes / restaurants. Costs around 20 yuan to the Bund depending on traffic and within easy walking distance of the metro. Service: we had a great experience with the service staff. It was raining when we had to take a cab after checking out and the front desk walked with us to the cab with umbrellas.

I first stayed at URBN in June 2012, I recently returned in June 2016. The improvements made to the entire experience where simply outstanding. The service and hospitality extended by the GM Fergus and the team made me feel like I was returning home after a hard day at a trade show, except even better than home! Lovely little cafes down the street, great hair salon nearby and fabulous Chinese foot massage two doors away - dragonfly. I wouldn't choose to stay anywhere else in Shanghai.

One of the best hotels I've stayed in for years. Relatively small with lots of greenery around the courtyard, excellent service and interesting modern large rooms. The location in a mixed retail/residential area is perfect. I would not consider anywhere else.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Urbn Shanghai, and I still find myself smiling to myself when I start to reminisce about my recent stay. I enjoyed every minute of my stay from the moment I arrived at Pudong Airport and was greeted by one of the hotel drivers, to when Fergus the GM waved goodbye as I sadly had to make the return journey back to the airport and fly home. The hotel is an oasis in the middle of hectic Shanghai, breakfast in the mornings was an extremely social affair, serv... Read more

Hard to believe you are in the middle of one of the world great metropolises. A sense of calm prevails throughout though the courtyard can be buzzy and laid back in the evenings. Seems to be a favourite for weekend brunch with expats and for guests a nice touch is the early each evening of complimentary wine and nibbles. The hotel oozes character with all the interiors created from reclaimed buildings and materials. My favourite being the floor to ceiling wall of old leather luggage behind r... Read more

This is a great place to stay in the French Concession - great rooms, and a quiet restaurant/bar to relax away from the bustle outside! Great breakfast and only a short walk to the Metro stop. Located in a v. pleasant neighbourhood - easy to walk around and explore the Concession.

I remember Tony who is manager in the front, he is very friendly. He suggested me about shanghai, famous places and local foods and help me to check about informations from airport. The URBN was a truly unique and wonderful hotel. The atmosphere was very calm. We spent lots of time in the beer gardn and enjoyed delicious food and drinks as well. The general manager, Fergus, was extremely helpful and friendly and made our stay especially comfortable. As for the room, it was very clean, trendy and spacious. I would definitely recommend visiting the URBN.

Very happy to have spent a few nights at this elegant and friendly hotel in the midst of busy Shanghai. Large Zen like rooms, an elegant garden and a nice breakfast area. An extra plus to the attentive personell who made several extra efforts to make sure we had a pleasant stay. This includes the hotel manager, who apologized for the extra noise during a hosted birthday party.

Chose this hotel over similar priced western branded hotels (Marriott, Hilton etc) because of its billing as a trendy upscale boutique. Was quite disappointed. Hotel is nice but run down (at least our room was). Our room's not so white anymore walls were in bad need of a fresh coat of paint (and some patching up). They were basically dirty and banged up. One wall had significant water damage that had been roughly patched up (see picture I also uploaded). Not what I expect from an upscale hotel... Read more

What a great boutique hotel right in the heart of Jjng'an district. The rooms are spacious and the staff are attentive and extremely helpful. Definitely will return to this little gem. Relaxing beer garden is the central theme to this hotel. Very easy to have an informal meeting in this area.

I have stayed at this lovely boutique hotel while on business in Shanghai quite a few times. The hotel is very centrally situated and close to metro line 2 and therefore easy to get to Pudong or Hongqiao Airports or the main railway station. However the hotel provides an oasis of calm within a bustling city and with its green courtyard is a unique place to stay in Shanghai It is a converted building from a 70s post office but its facade has been softened by greenery and there is a wonderful u... In the city for a furniture fair and at the hotel for a convention with other Italian company and local investors. After an initial disservice, a temporary room for a quick shower saved the situation. Apart of this, colonic style spacious rooms with large use of recycled wood. A large bath tub behind the bed and a small living. Stone shower but small basin. Clean. Central position. Good choice.

This is my 3rd time in recent years at this boutique hotel and URBN is better managed than ever. We had a lovely well appointed room overlooking the garden that was most peacefully surrounded by greenery, most visible through a huge picture window. The noise of the urban jungle melts away and in this central French Concession retreat. This hotel is dedicated to sustainable best practices and was even built with recycled slate and old suitcases making the wall behind reception in the lobby. The... Read more

Had a few nights of stay here for a friend's wedding then enroute to Taipei for a trip. Staff knows the area well, Shanghai is modern, this hotel is modern too. Stepped in and you will feel a different atmosphere altogether. You don't have to worry about food because you're surrounded by food within this area.

The small hotel uses a lot of reclaimed materials for its interior and the designer has done a splendid job turning all the into a modern yet warm environment. URBN tries to be different. In a way, they have succeeded with location, the buildup of the hotel (conserving approach), the layout of the room, the decor, the ambiance. However, need to be mindful of form over function. E.g. the bathroom - not very practical with the layout and the floor just gets wet after a bath or shower. Decor is pleasant, bed is very comfortable. Service is excellent (e.g. when my card did not work, they were prompt and have a security personnel turning up and ensuring... Read more

It's in a relatively quiet area but within walking distance of the metro and shops in Jing'An. Taxi's are plentiful. Rooms are fairly large and different from the usual international chains. Three nights - first time in Shanghai - coming from HK - it is just the best place to stay, if you like small boutique style hotels. A former industrial complex remodeled in a high class design hotel. So many small features to discover. And as you will have to discover Shanghai as well it is the perfect place to "come home" after a long side seeing day in Shanghai. Enjoy it! I will come back!

Everything`s said already about the unique style, the great location, but...what our stay made that pleasant, was the staff! Our breakfast waitresses were just lovely, as the waiters in the evening were. Wait 2 days, and they know what and how you want it, the third day. Served all with a beautiful smile. Reception was helpful in every moment, always eager to be at your serve. You may find many first class hotels all over Shanghai, but I bet rarely you find such a nice staff! Thank you all to ma...
