I stayed 3 days thinking it was near the river side however it was deceiving because no matter what view you had it was just terrible. People were very rude they did not speak english or very little, when I asked for a map their response was "it's in Chinese" WIFI in room was by router you have to get from the front desk - and pay a deposit for and wifi speed is at snails space Bathrooms were moldy and black everywhere. and the carpets were filthy.

This hotel has few amenities. No gym, for example. The lobby is very small. No chairs, no concierge desk. Concierge service is at the same cramped reception desk. The wifi service, in the evening when there are other guests, was not available. We tried for an hour to get online. We thought the system was broken, but in the morning when the IT service man came to our room we were able to get online immediately. There was a hiccup in our checking in. A document was missing from our paperw... Read more

The location of the hotel, the views from the river view rooms and the pricing is great, just the front desk staff are something of a special event that no hotel needs. Everything from checking you in to having you pay your bill is an inconvenience to them. Overall the hotel needs a good update. After banning smoking on several floor it was to much work to replace the carpet, so you can check into a room with cigarette holes in the carpet and the need to wear slippers at all times. WiFi is avai... Read more

Stayed here for one night and although the room was clean and the shower warm, it wasn't the best experience. Check in was smooth but I was told all about breakfast before I was told it was not included at check out. Had I have known I would be charged for this I wouldn't have bothered as it was pretty poor. Also, the "mini bar" isn't a fridge or anything, and beware the sneaky 2 waters they put on the shelf that aren't the complimentary ones, I got stung 26rmb a piece for these. The complimen... Been here twice. First time no WiFi in room. Needed a portable one where I also needed a lan cable but with a Mac I couldn't connect bc no one uses them anymore. 2nd time. Called in early since red eye flight will get in by 6 am. Staff named Zoe said no problem and to come on in. Arrived at 6 am and Kimi Gu (guy) basically says Full House no room available. Sit on sofa till 9 bc housekeeping comes at 8. No other solutions so apologies no comments. Very rude and did not even respond to why ... Read more

Hotel provided pretty good service and breakfast, however the beds were very hard and linen not changed daily. Unfortunately this hotel may have been 4 stars in its day but now, I would only give it 2.5.

This hotel advertises itself as an upscale "fancy-ish" hotel, but don't be tricked: it does not live up to that level of service. The room's toilet and shower door were partially broken, there were hair and crumbs (a small amount) on the floor when we arrived, and the service at the front desk was slow and poor. The main shocker, however, was the WiFi: while there technically is free WiFi as advertised, it requires a 100 kuai deposit to plug a device into your room wall for a very slow connectio... Read more

Visited Shanghai for a conference, and opted to stay here instead of the extortionate brand name hotel suggested. I had a 'superior' room, which was massive, had a very large bathroom, and an awesome view. The staff were very friendly though I wasn't allowed to check in early as the room was not ready. The room had a TV with HDMI which meant I could plug in my laptop, and offered wifi. I would recommend this hotel, and would definitely stay again.

We had a four night stay at the bund riverside. Room was a good size with a big bathroom decor was a little dated but nice . View from the room was awesome if the smog is not too bad. They are renovating room on the lower floors which should be nice when finished. You could only tell the works were going on when the elevator went past that floor.

Room service the hamburger was terrible french fries ,soggy ,tip for chef don't put glad wrap on French fries , room had wall paper hanging loose , mold in bathroom . Don't bother .

Note the fine print in your booking that adds a 15% service charge. We totally missed this. They also request to pay a deposit of 2,500 yuan for a double room!! We instead gave our credit cards as we would have had to convert more dollars into Yuan simply to pay this absurd deposit. Hotel is good, clean - and a good stopover in Shanghai. The closest metro stop is a 15-17 minute walk, the financial district and the bund area is in walking distance. Staff is not all that helpful. We tried to ord... Read more

Renovations were underway and the walls, furniture and facade clearly needed some attention but all of the seemingly visible flaws of this hotel made the stay here that much more pleasant. It had a certain genuineness to it. The food was great, location suited our purposes and the staff was friendly. The WiFi didn't work for us but channel surfing was interesting.

I stayed at a very beautiful 1 bedroom apartment with views, but only because I demanded and paid for the views. Some rooms were facing brick walls. Service was unfriendly. Food very ordinary. Close proximity to Bund, Yuan Gardens, City and Xintianti. Easy access to underground trains and restaurants. No much street lighting at night time in this surroundings.

Well , when u goggle the images it is very nice but when you actually go there it is somewhat quite different of the images that you see online and when you go there in person . There are lots of tourist and you can hardly enjoy the beauty of the place since there are lots of people there and it is difficult even to get 1 decent picture of the place . But the surrounding places are much more better and has an old worlds charm .

I didn't mind the less than perfect rug and the few stains of my toilet floor because of the superb location of the hotel. It was close to Bund, Nanjing Street market, metro stations, ferry point and host of local restaurants and international chains like McDonald, KFC and Subway. I can't forget the morning walk up to Bund followed by my brisk walk on the Bund promenade. The place was very lively and salubrious during morning hours. I booked via Booking.com and was offered the same price for all rooms! I picked a suite with riverside view. Check in was very easy and the glass lift was excellent. Awesome views especially at night. Our suite was 14th floor and I can recommend that. The decor was a bit old and shabby but the staff were very helpful and friendly. Clean and tidy, it was a great end to our trip.

I'm usually the type of person who doesn't say anything if I don't have anything good to say. However, this needs to be said to help future travelers. Beware of this hotel! It's insanely outdated, the room decor is old, stained rugs, stained chairs, bathroom is tinier than any bathroom I've ever saw. The sink practically reaches the shower from the opposite wall. Bathroom doesn't look clean enough and the elevator smelled pretty damn bad Not one good thing about this place. I did get to use my ... Read more

First of all, this is NOT a 4 stars hotel. It is 2-3 stars, at the very best. Second, I didn't know that one can book no-window room in a 4 stars hotel on hotels.com, I think hotels.com should certainly stop selling this on their website. The price wasn't cheap by Shanghai's standard and I was made to pay an additional 200 RMB (just over £20) when I arrived so that I can have a room with window on the 7th floor. If you look at this room "upgraded" room, I dread to think what does the no-wind... Read more

good location (Metro line 2 taking to airport within 5-10 minutes walking distance), very comfortable rooms, nice and friendly staff ; I needed to prolong my stay and I have highly appreciated the suggestion of the front desk personal to do it online as the cost was significantly lower (I booked all on C-trip). This is my second time at this hotel, the first was three years ago and it has definitely deteriorated. The carpets in my room very stained and even very dirty to say the least, you would not dare walk barefoot on them! The breakfast is definitely not the bargain of the month and is extremely limited. The only good thing going for this hotel is its proximity to Nanjing Raod which is very convenient.

The Bund Riverside is a pleasant hotel in a good location. Easy walk to Nanging Rd pedestrian street and the Bund. Staff are generally friendly and helpful. Our room was good size and the bathroom was comfortable. Room has a fridge and safe. Only downside is that the beds are very, very hard...sort of like sleeping on concrete!
