What a superb hotel! This was a peaceful oasis in the bustling and exciting Nanjing East Road and we can't thank the staff enough for a wonderful stay. We had a club room so breakfast was included, also afternoon tea, and drinks and nibbles in the evening. It was such luxury for 4 days to end our trip. Thank you to the staff for everything!!!!

I was little bit disappointed by this Sofitel. Booked a suit room (got the 2814) and I have to say that the room was not to Sofitel standard I normally know. Carpet was old, A/C very noisy and the whole room was old fashioned, probably not renewed yet... Gave some laundry in the morning, should have been back at 5 pm...I had to ask to get it at 9 pm... Not a big deal but not normal... Breakfast at the 30th floor was nice and the staff was helpful. As a whole would have expect more. On the other ... Read more

Nice king size bed with down duvet and pillows. Separate shower and tub, powerful hair dryer. Breakfast is great, staffed with a made to order kitchen counter. This hotel is well located on the main shopping street in the city and easy to walk to areas such as the bund. The hotel has great beds and is very clean with an excellent bathroom which isn't for the shy as the shower faces into the bedroom through a glass wall. As an international chain I find this hotel a step up from local brands which may not be to the tastes of Western guests. You can expect good service and high standards of fittings and safety.

Great location of the hotel, beautiful building, nice rooms, great food served for the breakfast. One thing I am missing is the swimming pool. It would be great to have the pool there.... Once, I've experienced some difficulties with communication in English, but the next person in the lobby was a good backup. One thing I didn't like was people bothering me right by the entrance of the hotel, trying to sell something or making other "propositions". Roman P

Sofitel Hyland is a good hotel. Location is amazing! You walk out of the hotel door and you simply are in People's square!!! Rooms are good, not too big, but they are very clean. I just wish this hotel had more restaurants. There is only one Western restaurant and there aren't many options in the menu. But in general, hotel is good and I would stay there again for sure.

This is a very nice hotel right on Nanjing Pedestrian road, which is really great when lit up @ nite! Breakfast was pretty good, with a lot of variety of pastries &breakfast food. Not a large variety of Chinese breakfast though. Did not find the staff to be super helpful @helping get taxis & get us to where we needed to go

The Good - Perfect location, central on East Nanjing Rd. Easy access from the metro station. Spotlessly clean with modern decor and very friendly staff. Felt more like a 5* than 4* to be honest. Breakfast was one of the best I have ever experienced. Beautiful bakery items, hot and cold selection, eastern, western, sweet and savory - could not be faulted. The locally/internally brewed beer in the lobby bar was lovely too! Excellent range of toiletry items in the room too. I would have no hesitati... Read more

I have stayed here several times while on business in Shanghai. Overall the hotel is great but the breakfast service is starting to slide and servers are not very fast, efficient, and cannot communicate in English well. It may sound silly but it takes a really long time to get a coffee which is sad because it is great coffee. Also, me bed in room 2414 was really squeaky and annoying. This hotel is in a great location on Nanjing Rd East, right in the middle of the main pedestrian shopping street in Shanghai. Rooms are clean and relatively spacious. However it can be difficult to find as the vehicle access is on Jiujiang St and this is quite a small street frontage. However if you get your taxi to take you to 505 Jiujiang St it is right across the road. It is also close to the Nanjing Rd East subway station so very easy to get around the city. We stayed there for 4 days in the first week of June, 2016. I must say, the hotel is situated at THE BEST location of Shanghai. The hotel is on Nanjing Street which itself is a tourism attraction with all kinds of shopping experiences to offer. One would find all kind of cuisines nearby, so the type of food was never the problem. There is a Muslim restaurant in the adjacent building of the hotel which served good food. Stay 2 nights a week apart one entering china and one before leaving. Great hotel good breakfast and fantastic location right on nanjing road east which is where you want to stay in shanghai. Considering the location hotel is very quiet with great views of the city would love to stay again.
