It grieves me to criticize an SPG property in China so harshly. SPG has been a haven for me. Every aspect of this hotel has been exceptional. Sadly though, the their heating/AC system is an antiquated system which limits the entire hotel to being stuck with either heating or AC. This is common with Chinese branded hotels and it is specifically the reason why many Western travelers choose American branded hotels, myself included. The primary purpose of a hotel is a good night sleep. The lack ... Read more

Vivian's welcome smile make me feel comfortable and relax like home. The staffs' hard working prove Waigaoqiao Sheraton is the best five stars Spg hotel in Shanghai. This hotel was BEAUTIFUL. The room was huge and extremely comfy. Probably one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in. Even the bathroom mirror had a TV in it. The breakfast buffet was massive and really tasty too. My only complaint would be the distance from the downtown Shanghai. It was SUPER far. In fact, it was difficult getting a taxi to take us back to the hotel after exploring the city sights. It's like 30-40 minutes out of the city. If you are doing business in the Free Trade Zone nearby t... Read more

We had dinner at miyabi restaurant in Sheraton waigaoqiao. It is a Japanese restaurant. The food and service all both top notch. We have ordered beef hotpot and assorted sashimi. It's all-you-can-eat type with variety selections of Japanese dishes. Highly recommended.

I stayed there two nights and it was a wonderful hotel. But what made it even more amazing was Oliver Yin. He works at the front desk, as a concierge, and even helped us get a taxi one morning. Then that night when we came back and didn't have exact change for the driver he got it for us fast and efficiently. The hotel is one hour out of Shanghai but I had to give a shout out to Mr. Yin.

There is basically nothing around except for a convenient store within walking distance (and a Starbucks). The place is too far out of the city unless you have business around there. The room is nice with standard Sheraton feel. Toilet is spacious but the Aircon is a little weird being too cold most of the time. Although in the free trade zone, internet is still restricted by the 'Great firewall of China'.

This hotel has good breakfast and lunch buffet. The room is spacious and bed is comfortable, only it is too far to the CBD. However it does have a subway line nearby. I would recommend Mr Yin, the concierge manager. He is patient and very helpful. You should definitely go to him to ask for trip advices and how to go around shanghai, but don't book any trips via the hotel. I suggest the hotel to exam its associated tour companies and find out a good deal for the tourists. Overall, 4 stars to t... Read more

We were booked into this hotel as part of a tour group. The hotel itself was very nice. Spacious lobby with nice bar. Excellent breakfast buffet in spacious dining room. The rooms were large and comfortable. Bathroom was large and well designed and even has a TV in the mirror. We were on a lower floor and the view from our room was mediocre - mostly roofs and parking lot. A subway station is located about a 10 min. easy walk from the hotel. The ride to most tourist areas (Bund, market, etc.) i... Read more

Stayed here for one night. The check in process was very long. The people working behind the desk seemed confused about everything. The rooms are nice and big. The gym and pool are very good, but they open late so if you have jet lag and get up early and want to work out make sure you talk to someone. This gym should be open 24 hours. The lounge also does not open till 7am. We had dinner at the lobby restaurant and it was not very good and has a limited menu.

We had an excellent stay at this Sheraton. The rooms were large and our corner window had two different views of the area. The breakfast had many choices. It is in the free trade zone, so is a ways from downtown, but even with some traffic did not take us long. Had an enjoyable stay.
