A very good, inexpensive place. Clean rooms, service lift, 15 mins to Metro, and Good local eateries down the street. Within walking distance of the Bund, major shopping and more expensive restaurants. We'd recommend this place if you're on a budget.

I really liked my stay in this hotel: it's nearby Nanjing Road, there's a lot of food places nearby, the Bund isn't far away and metro is only a few mins walk away - and the rooms are spacious (I staid in the smallest room and I think it was definitely big enough!), price is okey compared to the usual prices in Shanghai and hotel staff are really friendly. I was worried the hotel would be worse since I've been to many crappy hotels in Shanghai (mostly the rooms smell cigaruettes) but I would com... Read more

Very comfortable bed, good shower, aircon, water and kettle in the room. 2 mins from metro, walking distance from Bund and East Nanjing Rd pedestrian area. Don't be put off by the fish market entrance - adds to the character.

What more can you ask! Excellent location, close to metro line that leads to airport or Bullet train station. Very quiet. Big rooms. All the employees were always extremely helpful. It was clean. Good bathroom. There was only two negatives: the rooms were a bit too dark, although there were many lights, they were of the smallest wattage. The second negative was that it was difficult for the taxi to find it. It's tricky, and with the language barrier impossible to explain. When you lea... Read more

Hotel is in a great location SH just 5 minutes walk from the subway. Beds are very comfortable. Breakfast was not included but can be ordered. Some reviews are a nbit over the top - 'hidden gem'? Reception area could do with an overhaul. But it is good value and clean.

Location is good. Reception is very helpful and good at speaking English. The room is cleaned and well designed with loft style plus cozy living. We really love the room. Maid is friendly also. Next time I will stay here again for sure. Please come. You will love it!

This hotel is nice, the rooms are small, well located, two blocks from Nanjing West street and metro lines 2 and 10. The staff is helpful, kind and they speak English. Is one of the best places to stay in Shanghai at cheaper price. For reservations in China is better to specify with breakfast. I recommend this hotel.

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. Rooms are fine and quite clean and the situation is great. But i think it's overpriced - have been to similar range hotels in China that were quite a bit cheaper. The reception staff do their best (most of the time) but tend to be a bit minimal when it comes to help you - i've been given some false bus timetable info. Not a bad one, but not one I'd go back to either. Wifi in the room not so good but fine at the reception.

We stayed for five nights in this small hotel off the beaten track, but extremely well located, on the metro line and near the East Nanjing Rd pedestrian mall. When we arrived, I was a little put off by the access along a dark alley, but the next morning, I could see this was a traditional Lilong type street - occasionally rather comically blocked by a truck, and well lighted after that first night. The hotel staff were so amazing and helpful. The room was small by western standards - it barely ... Read more

First and foremost, this place has super friendly staff. The customer service reps at reception speak very good English and are happy to help foreign travellers. Nota bene, I stayed in 4* / 5* hotel in Beijing and Shanghai where staff were much less helpful and spoke little English - so this is kind of unique. The hotel is clean and is very conveniently located near the river and underground stations.

We stayed here for 4 nights in two different rooms. Both rooms were very clean and nice and the bed so comfortable. Location is great, the hotel is just a short walk away from the Bund, East Nanjing road (for shopping) and metro station (East Nanjing Rd) is 5 min away. They serve simple breakfast that you can order the previous night. The best thing about this hotel is the staff. They speak good English and are willing to help you in any way they can. We would recommend this hotel to anybody who... Read more

The rooms are basic, but clean. The staff were outstanding, very helpful. I was traveling in Shanghai as a single woman and felt safe and looked out for. When taking a day trip out of the city they checked to make sure I returned. They were extremely helpful in planning this trip, writing out in Chinese words I needed including "I need a fast train to Suzhou" for the train station. They connected me with less expensive services including a shuttle to airport the local people used. I woul... Read more

The staff were very helpful with excellent English. The location was very close to the action - near The Bund and the metro but still tucked away and quiet. Because of some booking confusion, we ended up with 2 rooms for the price of the triple room we had booked.

At night when we arrived we were not sure it is a hotel inside, because it was a very dark and dirty aisle. Room quite small but clean. Unfortunately the air conditioning in my room is not working well, the other night they asked us to move to another room.

Great little hotel just a short walk from East Nanjing Rd station. A nicely refurbished old building with a charming, eclectic feel and an espresso coffee machine and cafe in the lobby. Friendly and helpful, English speaking staff. Extremely good room rate via Agoda. Very niche - not your typical, large Chinese hotel.

Our room was really nice, clean and the stuff is really great too. The location of the hotel is awesome-really near to the centre, easy to find, close to subway. The only one problem in this hotel is that-walls are reaally thin, we could even hear people which were like 3 rooms away from us.

I travelled alone, I felt safe. The Inn is two minutes away from The Bund. Around the corner is a street full of little places to eat. Five-minute walk from the metro (East Nanjing Rd), and near by shopping (East Nanjing Rd.). I suggest getting a room on the second or third floor. The staff is friendly and helpful.

The staff member was so lovely and always happy to help. The location was great a short walk to the bund and not far from the train station. Was a nice quiet hotel. Breakfast was good. The hotel can be hard to find at first however is do-able. Small lift can only fit 1 person + bag is a little eery.

This small hotel is located about 5 blocks (15 min walk) from the N end of the Bund and a similar distance from Shanghai's main shopping area and a few blocks from a metro station. The rooms are small but comfortable- ours on the 3rd floor had a roomy partially enclosed balcony and a comfy sofa. The bathroom functions well and the bed and linen is clean. However, it's quite noisy outside and there are mosquitos so we had to close the balcony door and use the air conditioning overnight. The r... Read more

Frontdesk speaks good english and very helpful. Location is great, walking distance to bund and main shopping street. The location at first seems like a weird alley for a hotel, but it's not far from one of the biggest main streets and there are good street food joints on the way.

When i first arrived at the resort i was taken aback by the alley it is in, but the staff is friendly and speak english which is a change from many of the hotels in the area. I loved the loft style room but was disappointed to see black mould in the room. I also would suggest they remove the carpet in the first floor room to maintain a clean appearance

This hotel has a great location really close to a metro station just off the airport express. The room was clean and the beds comfy and the bathroom facilities were good to. Room had bottled water, tea making facilities, TV and air conditioning. When we were looking Captain's bar we asked the staff and we're given really helpful hand written directions. At check in you can even have a free toothbrush! If I'm back in Shanghai would stay again without hesitation, great hotel for a reasonable price... Read more

Don't be put off by the exterior ! Inside, it is clean and well maintained hotel with friendly staff. The rooms are a decent size with a flat screen television and comfortable bed. the bathroom facilities were clean and functional with a large shower. It is well located, a 5 min walk from the nearest metro station and a 10 minute walk to the bund. Anyone looking for a clean and comfortable 3 star hotel in central shanghai can't go wrong with the Fish Inn bund.

Stayed 2 nights here. The room is basic. We booked mini double room and is quite small for us who brought big luggages. Travellers who having big luggages are advised to book a bigger room. The metro station is about 500 m away and walking distance to Nanjing road walking street. The hotel is hidden in a small alley and taxi driver would have difficulty in searching for it. Advise to get the address before get onto the taxi

It's a boutique style hotel. The lobby and rooms seem newly renovated and a good value considering the high prices of hotels in Shanghai. The location of the hotel is difficult to find even for taxi drivers, but it is actually only a 10 minute walking distance to the Bund and to the Oriental Pearl Tower view point. Most major tourist attractions can be reached by Taxi within a 15 minute driving distance from Hotel. The front desk staff speaks very food English and helpful when approached wit... Read more

Nice little hotel on a rough looking back street. Don't let the rough look set you down if you get there late at night as I did. Very dark ally and entrance. Staff not super but ok. Rooms quirky, cool and well kept. Not a super neighborhood but ok.
