I was very surprised at the state of this hotel. It is in a good area of shanghai but is run down and the service is poor. The room we had looked like it hadn't changed since the 1970's. The furniture was torn, the shower curtain had rust-stains, the wallpaper was literally peeling off the wall. When it came to room service, the menu was in english but the staff could not understand a word of english - which made ordering an item from the menu impossible. They had to send someone up to the roo... Read more

It was not surprising to find the rooms in this hotel in poor condition after reading many reviews on Trip Advisor prior to our trip to Shanghai. We were with a tour group and I called the tour company to let them know that I had found many unfavorable reviews on Trip Advisor for this hotel; however, I was told by a tour representative that my expectations may have been too high and was assured this hotel would be adequate. We were assigned to room 1714, a lovely room, but one with a very strong... Read more

We booked this hotel as a part of package travel deal with United Airlines. The first experience was a little frustrating when they asked for rooms that had been paid for to be paid again. It took calling United's help desk and the hotel manager to get it straightened out. There wasn't anyone besides the manager who spoke English very well. It was frustrating to say the least. Overall the hotel was an okay place to sleep. The beds were comfortable, but the room furniture needs to be renewed. I w... Read more

This might have been one of the crown jewels of the Ramada chain but it so it was years ago. Mold in the shower and lighting in the bath room was for "mood" only and not functional. Also one would think they would have staff on hand who would have a fair command of the English language (western). With this being said and knowing the rooms were discounted to the tour company, the hotel could have been worse. It is located downtown and walking distance (across the street) from a three story gr... Read more

Stayed here as part of our 20 day Grand Circle tour of China We recieved conflicting reports that the hotel is 70 or 17 years old but looks like it is only about ten. Tom is giving this hotel a 4 hinge rating (scale of 0-5). The 9th and 10th floors of this nineteen story building are smoke free. About the only down side is the morning breakfast is not as extensive as the hotel in Beijing. across the street from the hotel there is a three-story convenience store (a cross between a Costco and H... Beautiful hotel in a good location of Shanghai. The room is large, well appointed with a very nice bathroom. The breakfast buffet is so-so with not too many offerings. Not much of a fruit selection or cold cuts. An odd offering in the breakfast buffets in China is corn-on-the-cob. The Chinese seem to like this for breakfast.

This hotel is lovely. The rooms are gigantic and the bathroom is very nice with tub and shower separated. The room has wood trim and a nice tv, fridge, robes, and even an umbrella which you can take out with you during the day. The free wifi was faster than other places I stayed in China even on the 16th floor. Unfortunately the wifi doesn't reach the breakfast room which is a bummer. Furthermore, there is a gross lack of outlets in the room, and none by the nightstand. Otherwise, I found this h... Read more

Stayed here for 4 nights as part of a Grand Circle Travel trip throughout China in July 2016. Rooms are fine, but the western style breakfast was very poor. Needs lots of improvement, better selection would be first place to start.

Although the rooms were spacious enough, we didn't think the lobby area presented a good impression to incoming guests and the front desk staff was not able to communicate in English. Unfortunately, the breakfasts were not good at all for the western palate, and we are adventurous eaters. Location was good.

Food was substandard. Chef not present with new help working breakfast with little supervision. Staff was not helpful with air condition problems. Disappointed overall and suggest seeking an alternative

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights during the middle of October of 2016. The breakfast each morning was not good with the food not being warm and not much western variety that we were told would be available. We had dinner one evening and it was poor. Our room was reasonably large. It was necessary for us to open the window in order to be comfortable enough to sleep.

We are 3 dentists and nurse who arrived at the hotel around 3:30am. We requested for early check-in before our arrival thru email but we didnt receive any confirmation. So we are not given a room, the reception area told us just to sleep at the lobby. We have hard time communicating with the staff because he cant understand in english. By 6:00am we were woke up by the staff and told us that we cant sleep...and then we asked for our room that we reserve and if we can have an early check-in...they ... Read more
