Very nice rooms and quite spacious. Good buffet breakfast. Had a little trouble as not many employees understood English very well but they tried! Location a ways from Bund but subway not too far away.

I visited the hotel as part of a tour group on two occasions this month. The staff were very helpful despite many of them having limited English.on both visits I had a large double room with bath and shower. The wifi was free and worked well. Tea making facilities were in all the rooms but no milk only creamers. The views from the room were reasonable for its situation and it has a lovely revolving restaurant on the 28th floor. My first room was on floor 10 so I could just see the Huangpu River.... Read more

Reception staff spoke no English and are a bit impatient with non-Chinese speaking guests to the point of arrogance. Was charged 2000 yuan deposit for the minibar which is excessive, considering the sparse contents. Breakfast is ok, a mix of Chinese and western. There is a currency exchange machine in the lobby, handy because the branch of the bank down the street took 45 minutes to complete a transaction. Taxi to the Superbrand Mall was 26 yuan, supermarket onsite.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights at the start of our tour, location is good in relation to city sights, rooms are well appointed and better than we were expecting, good western breakfast available. Drinks in the hotel bar are on the high side but cheaper than a bar just around the corner from the hotel reception. Mini market within 20 yards of the hotel. Free in room wifi available.

This is a very nice hotel located in downtown Shanghai, with good transport links nearby. Spacious rooms with modern design, comfortable beds and pillows and good size bathroom. My room had excellent views of some of the new buildings in the neighbourhood. Cash point, convenience store all are close by. Near reception there is an automated currency exchange machine as well. Loved the bar and piano player, they created the perfect atmosphere for a few cocktails in the evening.

The hotel was in a pretty good position, definitely 4 star. We started the day with a good western style buffet breakfast. The room had wi-fi, safe, a good size bathroom and a lovely comfortable bed. The only downside was that our room was next to the stairs where the night maintenance men were. We were often woken by music and talking during the night. As this was part of our Chinese tour I will now review this leg of the tour. The guides Andy and Jimmy had a very good command of the English la... Read more

A very good position, walking distance of the Bund, clean and spacious room, new furniture, a large bathroom, free Wi-fi. The breakfast with european and chinese food. And if you go near the hotel you can see nice old houses, another face of Shanghai.

The hotel were booked by our business partner as they held their dinner there. Meetings were conducted in their ballroom. We basically spent about 4 days in the hotel and glad to report that during the 4 days, room was properly kept and we were pretty much left to our own devices. We barely noticed the chambermaid etc, they either must be very fast worker or they clean up the room whenever we left. Whichever it is, kudos to them for not intruding. Breakfast was excellent but seatings are lacki... Read more

There are quite a few local restaurants around this hotel, which makes it convenient for business people to eat after work and go back to hotel. There is also a nice cafe opposite the hotel which is pretty decent. It is also near the Bund, which is about 10-15 mins drive away. I don't really know the exact location of this hotel, but it seems convenient going everywhere because it is really about 15 mins to central or to CBD areas or to shopping places. The hotel is clean and comfortable; not ... Read more

The rooms were huge. Staff was nice to accommodate our request for three rooms in same wing. Breakfast buffet was good. The only drawback is that it is not centrally located, there was no shopping district or dining for tourists. We had to cab everywhere which is ok as cabs are inexpensive.

After several weeks in China I stayed at the Ocean Hotel and received the best sleep in weeks. Layout of rooms are very working traveller friendly and the bed the comfiest that I slept in whilst in China. Breakfast was superb. Highly recommend.

We've just returned from Mercury Holidays, China Discovery tour 10 days. What an amazing experience. I'd like to thank all the local guides and coach rivers for an excellent journey. I enjoyed thoroughly the trip, with highlights at all locations. The pace and temperatures where high and very busy as it was China national holidays, but the guides bypassed queues keeping the pace steady and in the shade. This Shanghai hotel was excellent and the food was in abundant supply, it wasn't central which... Read more

The room is very convenient and spacious. Enough space for my little one to run around and play. However location is not ideal as there are no western restaurant nearby. I would have stayed here if there were more restaurants around.

The hotel is in a residential area,so relatively quiet, about 5 minutes drive from the Bund and the nightlife of the central city. Surrounding the hotel there are no,limited western bars, restaurants or shopping facilities. Nevertheless the hotel has been recently renovated to a decent 4 star standard. It has 357 rooms. As part of a tour group we stayed in a standard room,612,which is spacious and well appointed with comfortable twin beds, decent shower/bath facilities, tea making kit,ac, tv etc. If... Read more

Have just returned from a Mercury China Discovery Tour. The hotel was very nice and the room lovely. We were there for three nights, couldn't really fault it. The bathroom was in a glass cube in the bedroom so probably not so good if you are shy with your ablutions!!

We stayed here three nights in late September, 2016, and were very pleased. Our room, booked for us by China Focus out of San Francisco as the conclusion to a tour of Tibet, Chengdu Panda Base, Yangtze River cruise, ending in Shanghai. From reading, it appears that our room was a business king, with a revolving television, a small living room, and a nice bathroom, with separate shower and tub. The room was spacious, clean, and well-equipped with robes, slippers, mini-fridge and safe. Although I ... Read more

A really lovely hotel from the entrance hall to the most stunning bed room with a lounge. We're on the 16th floor so had a superb view of all the colouful buildings especially at night. The area is rather far from the busy tourist areas. The staff speak very little English. Close to the Old Jewish area. Nice breakfast. So no complaints. Other than a English problem and no decent places to eat near by. Don't recommend the tiny little soup kitchens.

We were with Mercury Holidays on their escorted "Wonders of China" tour and found all the hotels we stayed in were of a very high standard. We spent two nights at the Ocean Hotel in Shanghai, 2 at the Tibet Hotel in Chengdu, 2 at the Titan Times Hotel in Xi-an and 4 at the Landmark Hotel in Beijing. We also spent 4 nights cruising on the Yangtze river viewing the three gorges. All in all a fantastic experience including a visit to see the Giant Pandas (plus one new born baby), walking along the... Read more
