I stayed in the Jing'An Shangri-La in an executive-lounge room for three nights in April. Right from the start the experience was fantastic, a no-hassles personalised check-in, attentive and welcoming staff (who were kind enough to pretend my Mandarin was not terrible), and an extended cocktail hour in the executive lounge due to my flight being delayed. The room was incredible, large, luxurious, fantastic view, and top-notch amenities. The rest of the hotel was equally impressive; a top-of-t... Read more

Stayed here for a couple of nights on a business trip. Very comfy, huge well designed bathroom and great view - with very helpful night and day blinds!! Room service breakfast was great - helped with my jetlag. But there is a huge choice in the restaurant as well. Would definitely recommend for business.

The entrance and main floor were gorgeous, Service very refined, but there can be language problems. I thought the executive lounge was very attractive, but weak in the liquor department - the Chinese are not big drinkers I guess. The downstairs café was marvelous for breakfast.

I was here exactly 1 year ago and the Concierge staff still remembered me! Alan Dong addressed me by my name! Jason Stinson is very hospitable. Always nice to be back at this property. They have also upgraded the toiletries this year to L'Occitane - to be on par with the Island Shangrila in Hong Kong.

Well its always a pleasure to stay with Shangri-La especially here. Nice Rooms and even the room service quality is very good. I enjoyed the food; delivered in time and hot. The restaurant choices are nice and yes the service at Horizon Lounge is gorgeous. All need attended in time. We had lunch at the coffee shop - the selection was good and without complain. There was a vast selection of desserts and Ice cream - I love it and see you again.

Attentive and nice personell. Rooms Clean and with very many extra features like Bose stereo, a shower were you can sit. You can walk indoors from the hotel to the subbway which is nice and easy and cool if a hit day. A shopping mall is one minute away with a very nice supermarket where westerners may satisfy their possibile cravings. The Horizon Club i worth the money if you like to relax with a snack or tea. Also staff there have a very satisfactory understanding of English.

If you like Asian hospitality and decor then the Shangri-La in Jing'an district is for you. The lobby is expansive and check in fast and thorough. The lobby bar seemed a bit to eclectic in terms of decor to my taste but you feel a sense of luxury when you enter the building. Some people are immediately bothered by this chain's branded scent program which fills the air whether you're in Shanghai, Hong Kong or even Toronto. I don't mind the floral scent so it didn't bother me. The room was well ... Read more

The hotel itself is excellent in all respects except one - the front desk/concierge needs work. At a business hotel it is important to be able to get a car quickly and i have had multiple issues at this property. The hotel is located in my favourite area in Shanghai and that's basically why I asked the assistant to book the room for me instead of Banyan Tree Shanghai. But the minute I stepped in, I just didn't get this warm welcome feeling from the staff. Firstly I was waiting in line for checking in and this lady just asked me to do the check in by a small counter near the entrance -> this is not a good service in my opinion at all by the way coz I don't feel being respected and then she started saying ... My #1 priority is location and #2 swimming pool. They both meet my expectation. Subway #2 and #7 lines are just in the lower level of the hotel. There are so many restaurants in Kerry Center. Tried all three places for breakfast as a Horizon guest. Lots of choices on the lobby floor but with many people. Although I never had problem getting a table. In comparison to the Pudong Shangri-la this property feels more personal, more cosy and not as artificial. It is smaller, has very elegant rooms, impeccable (Shangri-la adequate) service and leaves the annoying factors out of the equation (professional night hostesses in front of the elevator, to loud, to big). At the end your business destination will decide is you stay here or in Pudong as the distance to travel is just to far.
