I stayed here after a 12hr flight from London and was very impressed by the staff's attention to detail and friendliness. They knew I would be tired and had taken to make sure I was comfortable when I arrived. We had business at the Long Museum, so this was an ideal location as it was just a little out of the city centre. It was handy for most attractions - which we visited in our spare time - and the staff were fantastic at organising transportation for us.

The hotel is perfectly located. The view from the bar is just amazing. But when it comes to service, it is the worst place to be. The staff at the reception have no idea how to register or to check in guests. I was in this hotel four times and each time is was getting more horrible. Even the GM was not answering my emails. Is this service? No. Go there for a drink but never stay there as a guest.

Great location, at the end of the bund, and the rooftop bar is definately worth the visit. I was out in shanghai for a business trip, and stayed here on the weekend. Overall, a great place but my only complaint is that the central A/C system during the winter months. It was abnormally hot for a couple of days that i was there, so i wanted to turn on the ac. The air would come in, but it wasnt cold. It turns out a lot of places had this same problem. A lot of the malls, restaurants were a... Read more

Amazing Shanghai style hotel that offers a great selection of rooms! Look at the attached picture and you only want to have a full Pudong river view. Than the Char restaurant offers the best steaks you can imagine. The steaks are so tender and the various types of mustard complements the flavor of the steaks. Will be back this Friday again.!

This was my third stay at Indigo and I am generally very happy with the hotel. The rooms are modern and very quiet from both inside and outside noise. The bathroom is very luxurious. Stop by the Char Bar on the 21st (I think) floor and get a look at the nighttime view of Pudong. It's amazing!

The Indigo is a quirky hotel and service in all area was good. We had a room with a view right over the bund and this included the view from the bathroom. The breakfast each day was wonderful with slightly different Chinese offerings which was good to have a try of something new. I would recommend this hotel for both leisure and business.

We spent 2 nights at the Hotel Indigo Shanghai on the Bund and it was great. The location is wonderful, right on the Bund, and from our room on the 19th floor, we had an excellent view of the Financial District from our window. The room had large windows covering the whole width of the room. The room is stylish with somewhat unusual decor with books such as Discover Your Inner Economist (!) on the shelf in our room. The WiFi (free) was very good and well equipped with basic office supplies i... Read more

A key selling point of this hotel is that almost every room has a river view (as it is a free standing tower on the water's edge), unlike the grand old hotels of the Bund where only a handful do. However if you are "upstream" the view is not that great and if it's raining and the sky is full of cloud and smog there's not much of a view anyway (wherever you are)! Staff were friendly and the hotel is very stylish - thought the room was excellent and liked the quirky touches, though on the oth... Read more

The hotel is nice but the location is a bit inconvenient if you do not like to take a short cab ride to the nearby People's Square etc. It's also quite far to walk to the nearest subway station so unless you don't plan to go around using the subway then this is a good place to stay.

I also work in the hospitality industry, so I know that Hotel Indigo can definitely do better in employee training. I stayed at the hotel for 4 days and 3 nights and did not experience the service I expected to receive. Front desk agent, Michael, was very professional and helpful when I had questions. Rooms were also very clean and the coffee was great. However, when I went to the 6th floor buffet to have breakfast, it was very clear that the staff did not receive enough training. I spoke to 2... The service is superb, the room spacious and comfortable, the views beyond fabulous and the food is delicious. It is worth booking the special view rooms which jut out over the Huangpu river as you become part of the constant activity below. The view from the bar on the 31 floor takes in the whole of LuJiaZui and the Bund, sweeping over Yu gardens and into Puxi. Stay to watch the lights and then enjoy the top quality steak in the Char grill. You pay for quality, but the food is superb. Another w... Read more

Just stayed at Hotel Indigo on The Bund for the first time and very impressed! Been travelling to Shanghai for over 25 years and stayed at many hotels and this one is very good especially for the price compared to other 4/5 star hotels. Nice and cosy and quite funky with a warm feel. Good Breakfast (although music too loud!) and a great bar CHAR on the 30th floor with 2 balconies with great views of The Bund, the river and Pudong area with its sky scrapers. The bar even has it's own wheat beer! ... Read more

Small but luxurious rooms, great staff, fast wifi. Bircher muesli available for breakfast. Lovely area on same level with massage chairs looking over to river, or reading pods, with small selection of English books and magazines.

I had invited a business partner for dinner and had booked a table at the Char Steak restaurant specifically asking for a window table. We also booked the outdoor terrace for drinks after dinner for 4 persons, AGAIN specifically requesting that we would need to have the Bund view from the Terrace. When my guest and I arrived at the Restaurant we realized that we were given a small table stuck in between two large tables ( 8 people on each, and they were both people celebrating some corporate e... This was my first time at Hotel Indigo and I enjoyed my stay though it was not as centrally located as I thought. Even though it is on the Bund, it is at the far end. That said, once you are out on the promenade, it is a pleasant walk to catch the spectacular views of Pudong. The hotel is quite trendy and the room was beautifully furnished. I especially loved the lamps in different colors with a dark wood base. Some of my favorites: spacious shower, separate toilet area, walk in closet and a lov... Read more

First Indigo experience was simply outstanding - I've stayed in many 4/5 star boutiques in the US and nothing comes close to the quality and overall experience. Check-in was a breeze - we booked 2 rooms and were given an upgrade on both due to being Platinum members, as well some drink vouchers for the 29th floor bar. The view up there is simply breathtaking. Welcome amenities in the rooms, including a stuffed monkey & a handwritten card (one nit: fruit basket was a nice thought but the banana ... Read more

Quirky boutique hotel. You feel at home and welcome. Gorgeous beds really comfortable! Good breakfast. Bar on the top floor which was great although not sure how happy I'd be to pay the table fee at weekends!! Very convenient location for restaurants and a stroll along the Bund. Will be going back! Would stay here in preference to the intercontinental.

The Hotel is situated in a perfect place, from your room you can see the skyline. You have easy access to the river walk. There are stores and restaurants underground, so it's cooler as you walk around. The view at night is spectacular. The best thing about the hotel is the staff, they go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need and you feel good. I want to give a shout out to Micheal at the front desk. He got me where I needed to go and back, being a newcomer he walked me thro... Read more

I could wax lyrical about this place forever so here is what I loved: Stylish and tasteful decoration, incredible attention to detail, beautiful silk painting of The Kiss by Gustav Klimt In lobby. So hip and arty in the rooms- right up my street. Rooms are divine, artistic, a la mode, trendy beautifully decorated. Attention to detail and special touches - cafetière French press, fresh coffee, Bayankala toiletries. BREATHTAKING VIEW- stay in the river and bund view room you will not regret it... Read more

Having spent many nights in the past in indigo hotel Shanghai, I decided to book for my most recent trip back there. Have to say the quality has greatly declined. I booked a room through Ctrip and when I arrived the room was not as explained on the booking site. When I called reception to ask them they pretty much just said it wasn't their fault and blame Ctrip. Nothing was done. They did offer to give me a bund view room.... At a extra charge!!! I had a one day stop in Shanghai and a friend insisted that I stay at the Indigo. I'm glad she did. The property is directly on the Bund, just a few blocks from tremendous restaurants. I had a room with a river view and was very impressed. The bed was quite comfortable and the linens well maintained. The shower was INCREDIBLE - a wrap-around spa environment. WiFi was strong (remember it's China, so things like Facebook, Google and Gmail don't work - it's not the hotel!) and breakfast was well ta... Read more

The best thing is that this hotel is located on that side of the river which is opposite to the best tall buildings of Shanghai. So the view is the amazing skyline! I'll post a picture clicked from my room bed. It's a boutique hotel so the rooms are quite unique. The view from the river view rooms is amazing and gets better at night. The breakfast is delicious. The staff is very warm. I loved my 3 days here. Should love to be back.

This is my 2nd visit in this hotel after a long time. I could not recall anything negative from my last stay. But it is kind of negative this time. The air condition is not working in the first room and moved to another room, usual fancy Indigo room. It is definitely not exactly well maintained. Curtain control switch is like melted, sticky, seem like it has been used some wrong solvent to clean it. Shower screen door doesn't close properly, water flood all over the dry area of the bath room aft... Read more

The room is well appointed and has very good size. It has a great view of downtown Shanghai. The staff is accommodating. The breakfast is above average with that staff being particularly attentive. I like the workout area. Plenty of weights and aerobic workouts to choose from. The room was very comfortable and the bed was excellent.

Thankfully I changed my hotel and pick this one. And all I can say is WOW! from the excellent staff who greeted me to check in to the lobby furniture to some arts and design I was very impressed how this hotel represent itself. From its excellent location, amenities and service you cannot go wrong with this one at least from my experience and perspective. It is near an old town square where you can buy a lot of cheap stuff. Me and my boyfriend booked the executive room with the river view on my birthday. Everything was fine, but at the middle of our first nights we woke up because it was extremely hot in the room, AC stopped working, we called to the FD to fix it, they came at night, it was my birthday, the mood was slowly decreasing at that time. They said they can not fix it and offered us to move to another room, same type, but upstairs, we refused to do it at night, cause it is not convinient, so they brought f... Read more
