After staying in a Chinese hotel with hard beds and a less than satisfactory breakfast, I had a wonderful reprieve at the Hongqiao Hilton. I checked in on the third floor of the Executive Building, and was whisked to a beautiful corner Executive King on the 8th floor. Extremely comfortable bed and very nice furnishings. The Executive Lounge was perfect for having meetings and the staff provided tea and coffee for my guests. The Executive Lounge breakfast was extensive and even had ... Read more

After many trips to Shanghai, I finally tried the Hilton property. It is an upscale property with multiple wings of guest rooms. The lobby is a large space, and the restaurant and coffee shops are down a long hall. Though there were quite a lot of people around in the lobby, the lobby atmosphere was pretty relaxed and serene the week I was there. I stayed in a standard room wing which felt new and updated. The room was a good size, with a nice free standing work desk which looked out at a l... Read more

Being from mid- America (Illinois) we did not know what to expect in Shanghai. We were so pleased with the Hilton Hongqian hotel. It is well designed, with beautiful rooms, great accessories, including wifi/internet service and a great location. We recommend it to all international travelers.

Stayed there for 7n on a business trip. The rooms were fairly large and had a well sized table for business travellers on the go. Wifi connection was excellent too. Restaurants downstairs were excellent too. ( i tried both the international and chinese restaurant) The only grouse was the location as it was far from most touristy spots when i ventured out over the weekend to city centre and the cab ride took my more than 30mins All in all, highly recommended for work trips if sightseeing is... Held a wedding reception in one of their banquet halls (mine was one of 4 weddings that night). Our dressing room managed to be as far from our banquet hall as possible, at opposite ends of the hotel lobby. Our wedding suite was fabulous except they couldn't separate smoking and non-smoking. My wife and I don't smoke. We had a non-smoking room. Our neighbors across the hall smoked so much that the smell wafted into our room. Not even the AC helped. I ended up coughing all night, getting no res... Read more

This is the second time I stayed in this hotel. It is a very popular place for business people because its location close to Hongqiao airport and the railway station with high speed connections to major cities in China. The hotel is excellen. I stayed in both towers and there is nothing negative to mention to the rooms. Very good breakfast, but plan some time if you want to enjoy all because it is mostly very crowded. If you have time also use the gym, really good with big indoor swimming pool.... Read more

I've stayed in many Hilton's across the world and in China, this ranks as one of the best. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Restaurant is very good and breakfast has a wide selection of food for all tastes. I also found the wifi to be excellent in the rooms, however as in most Hilton's I seem to have varying results using a VPN, sometimes it works and other times not. Room was large and spacious. Located 10 minutes walk from Foreigner Street and 20 minutes from the metro system.

For years I looked for a good hotel in Hongqiao area and I finally got it. Convenient location, 3 towers with a variety of room types, well sized rooms; clean, large bathrooms separate shower and great bathtub, good amenities. Staff is all friendly especially the manager grade staff which is going the extra mile for you. This includes them all; the concierge manager, executive lounge managers, GSM, and even the GM is available for you. I had here all I could expect from a 5 star hotel. Durin... Read more

Good Gym facilities. Con's: - Did not get any assistance from the Bell desk during check-in. But it's time to update the lighting. The staff are great especially the Concierge and the executive lounge always going the extra mile for you. For the management of this hotel I take off my hat and say Well Done! And keep it up.

For what it's worth, Hilton Shanghai Hongqiao lives up to its premise. Located in the new upmarket neighborhood of Gubei, it rests in between Hongqiao transport hub and downtown Shanghai, next to a driving range / country club. Competence of staff speaks for itself, at least matching that of other Hilton properties. HHonors membership is recognized, with elite perks offered without the need for prompts or reminders on the guest's behalf. While the property shows subtle signs of age -- it is wel... Read more

Friendly staff that speaks good English. Rooms clean and spaceous, gym and the whole spa section add a special touch. Would like to see some more fresh vegetables on the breakfast menu. As I really do not know how to iron, washing&ironing service would be a fine addition, to round up the whole business package offer

Loved the room! It was big and spacious. Equipped with a bathtub that is very well maintained. No stains was found. Service was alright. We had to call the operator twice before housekeeping came up. And the toilet flush became faulty on the 3rd day of our stay. Location is not near city, so it's suitable for business stays but not so much for sightseeing. But the room layout and facilities made up for all of it. It still deserved the 4 star.

Overall not a lot going on in this neighborhood, but we got in late, and left the next morning via taxi to SHA which was convenient. Was upgraded via HHonors to a junior suite I think and it was pretty nice, but tended to be on the warm side, as it never cooled down enough to me liking. Also, it was quite the hike to get to the tower my room was at, which sort of bit, but ok by me. Ate breakfast in the restaurant and it had the typical westerns and Chinese mix of offerings. While the hotel is good, there are few things that annoy me. The long queue at the check-in and check-out. I had to wait for more than 10 minutes. Unclear direction to the rooms - as there are few blocks, and the signs to rooms were not really clear (receptionist at check in did not help on that either). While there are couple restaurants close to the hotel (and inside the hotel), you will need to walk for 10-15 minutes in order to find more choices in the neighborhood. The roundabout at th... The hotel is large and new in a very modern hotel. I stayed there for one night because this hotel was right beside my friend's residence. Maybe because it is not located in the center of Shanghai, the price is surprisingly favorable. I remeber it was only about 900 RMB per night and the room was large and comfortable. Great service.

The hotel is rather old ( I had a newer room so wonder what the older are like) You line up for reception which is painfully slow and the staff really don't care. The Internet is so slow it's useless. The breakfast is so poor it's like a 2 star local Chinese hotel but with 5 star price. And to give me a good send off at 4.15 am I stood outside the hotel next to my limousine for 20 minutes because the driver wasn't there and nobody could be bothered to find him. As a Diamond Honors member, I seek out Hilton properties wherever I go to on business. This hotel, while somewhat older, is very well-kept, well-managed and is in an extremely convenient and westerner-friendly location. The hotel offers many types of rooms and has an above average executive lounge as well as a huge fitness and spa area. The restaurants at the hotel are slightly better than normal for like hotels in China and are friendlier than most to westerners. Over the past nine years, I... Read more

This is a great hotel in a great location and a quick cab ride to a lot of restaurants and sites. There are 3 towers and I stayed in the third tower, which is the executive tower.
