I stayed there for 4 nights on a business trip. Lobby was average in size but so dim or slightly dark. May be its their concept , unlike a few other Grand Mercure I've stayed before in other countries . Stayed in the Executive Room and its size is not that large if compared to their photos featured in the website . Staff were helpful and can generally speak English . Concierge staff were good and very helpful . Executive Lounge is good is many choices of food and drinks. Staff were helpful a... Read more

The hotel was much more than we hoped for - great value for money. Very elegant, conveniently located next to a metro and train station, surrounded by several fast-food restaurants. All the staff was very nice and spoke good English. The room was clean, a bit smaller than expected, but with a very spacious bathroom and a great view from the 12th floor. What is very important, most of the websites are accessible with the hotel's WiFi. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Shangha... Read more

After a few very average hotels in China this one was like a shining light. We had a lovely room on the eighth floor. It was quite spacious, with a very comfy bed, good pillows and a great shower. The breakfast was amazing and the staff very helpful and friendly. We would recommend this hotel to anyone.

We stayed in a suit on the executive floor. Due to a little confusion when we booked this was an upgrade and we were very pleased with the room. The bed is super comfortable, the bathroom huge and a bath that I joked would take a month to fill because it was so big. The room could not be faulted, we were very pleased with it. The executive lounge was open all day and tea and coffee were provided free of charge until 9pm. Alcohol and snacks were also provide from 5-7.30pm daily. The hotel is rig... Read more

We stayed here for three nights in June as part of a wider trip to China. The rooms were comfortable, albeit a little small, and were clean. The flush of the toilet didn't work properly at the beginning but the staff quickly remedied that. The hotel is next to a tube station which made getting around the city incredibly easy. The Metro has English translations and you could by a three day pass for 48rnb.

Just got back from a 7 day vacation in Shanghai (June 14th through 21st) and stayed at the Grand Mercure. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay and the hotel was in a very convenient location. I would say that the room I got was a pretty solid, clean and big business traveler type room. It had a nice big bed, a clean and large bathroom and a large desk for any work you may need to do. There are several power sockets and a USB port. In addition there is a relatively big TV and a small refrige... Read more

The hotel environs were really good with a shopping mall situated about 5 mins walking distance away. The breakfast at the hotel was the best we've tasted in China, with a whole array of dishes, some of which were good enough for lunch or dinner. The room was spacious with a comfortable king-size bed and clean linen. It‚??s a pity that the poor concierge service took something away from our otherwise great experience at the hotel. We booked this hotel mainly because we were travelling with our 2 year old and were headed to Hangzhou via the high speed train the following day. Service at check-in was pleasant and prompt. We were pleased with how we were greeted and served even though this is usually not a sticking point for us. Room size was just right. Not too much extra space that we have no use for. Some previous reviews have indicated that the hotel was a little worn down, but that was not my experience at all. My room was very clean and well finished, as were the hallways, restaurant, lobby, etc. Had great service, and an overall very comfy trip. The hotel is well situated with a subway station directly below it, but it is a few stops away from the Bund and other attractions, something to keep in mind as the trains stop running around 11-midnight.

1. The hotel is next to Shanghai Railway Metro, travelling with a suitcase is no problem but only for the healthy & younger folks. This is because there is not a single up elevator or escalator between the Metro and Hotel and the steps are too numerous, with 3 levels of stairs. Although there are 3 entrances to the Metro near the hotel, there are only 2 escalators and none of them are suitable because they go different locations. The hotel is a bit further from the touristy Bund area and East Nanjing road so we found it also a bit more affordable. With the efficient metro system it doesn't take a lot of time or money to reach those spots, with exit 5 of the Shanghai Central Station almost adjacent to the hotel entrance. As many train station areas the direct surroundings are not the most appealing though but with the almost adjacent metro exit and the hotel entrance in an inner court you won‚??t even have to notice...
