Kempinsky is a fantastic place to stay. Nice room service, good rooms, clean and quiet. There's a nice bar downstairs where to enjoy drinks and food. The taxi service is efficient and quick. I recommend it

Love love love the location of this hotel and the neighborhood that it is in but rooms are dated, Internet is spotty and the air conditioner needs to be replaced. Stayed for a week in February aka winter and almost died of heat stroke and even had to open the windows so that the wind could ventilate the room and cool it down... Pls do something abt the air conditioning!!! Would stay again if they can sort out the air conditioning issues... Yes had to call for help more than once in the midd... Read more

The Kempinski is very dated. The rooms are old, but they are well maintained and clean. The breakfast buffet has all you need and they have a Paulaner which serves good beer and half decent food. The biggest asset for me is the location. You will find quite a few interesting western dinner options within a 1000m radius. And it's far enough from the city center that you are not completely stuck in traffic, if you come or leave south bound. It works for me, but there are by far better and more mod... Read more

The hotel is not bad, but it has decreased its quality with time, you can find same rated but better quality hotels in Chengdu. I have been twice in Chengdu and both times I have been in this hotel. First time we booked a non-smoking room and when we arrived there were none available and we must spend 2 nights in a smokers room. Second time I changed my room because the one they gave me had a strong smell to smoke and humidity. The best thing of the hotel is the beer terrace. I won't recomen... Read more

As I continue my search for a good hotel in Chengdu I thought I would try out the Kempinski. On the positive side the location is good. 20 minutes by cab (on a good day) from the Airport; next to the Metro; some decent bars and restaurants within walking distance; all the staff are extremely friendly and helpful; on the downside the breakfast buffet (whilst plentiful) is pretty ordinary in terms of quality and expensive ($30 for a visitor); the rooms are indeed dated and if you are facing the ma... My wife and I stayed for 2 nights at Kempinski Chengdu in May 2016. Neat and clean place, good location, decent breakfast but certainly not value for money any more. The hotel desperately needs refurbishing and doing up if it wants to keep up with the times and meet the standards of discerning travelers...sparse room service, dated rooms that need doing up, woefully inadequate lobby seating, and average quality restaurants.

My latest China trip brought me to Chengdu and the Kempinski hotel. I stayed there for three nights and it was a pleasant one. Very friendly employees always assisting me with my inquiries. Especially the breakfast team made my mornings. Ideal location just a short walk to the next metro station which is the fastest way to get around in the city center. The rooms are a bit dated but clean and comfortable. For me the Paulaner micro-brewery restaurant was fun as I like a good beer in the evening a... Read more

We spent two nights at the Kempinski Hotel Chengdu and enjoyed it very much. A warm welcome by the staff and we even were offered a welcome drink which was pleasant after a long day. Our room was located on the 18 floor with a good view overlooking the residential neighborhood. The room design is a bit dated but good in size, cleanliness and comfort. The breakfast buffet on the second floor was a very good treat to start the day. Big selection of Chinese favorites but also for us a very good c... Read more

I've had four or five stays at the Kempinski in Chengdu, and it's a solid hotel with good access to the airport. Staff speak English, and the room service is good. This being said, the property has a somewhat old feel, and it is a little way from the center of Chengdu itself and many of the best nightlife options in the city. Getting a taxi is oddly almost impossible from the concierge...far better to book well in advance (like a day or two). On this front, the pick up service from the airport i... Read more

The Kempinski Chengdu was a nice hotel. The staff were very friendly, helping us arrange our day time activities and helping us pick a traditional Sichuan restaurant that we could walk to. Our room was very modern with a great view.

I was here for one night in January during an unplanned overnight stay in Chengdu. I arrived with no reservation, but the staff were extremely helpful. It is a modern beautiful hotel. The room was very clean, with a good wifi connection. The staff are obviously well trained, and many of them spoke good English. The meals were excellent. I will be happy to stay here again during my next visit to Chengdu

We stayed in Kempinski Chengdu before going to Leshan for our short holiday in Sichuan. From the time we arrived, we were enthusiastically greeted by one of lady wearing red dress and she speaks very fluent English. The hotel staff are very friendly specially the concierge team, they gave us so many suggestions on the places that we must visit during our 4 days stay in the city. Our favorite restaurant is Harmony as they serve really authentic Chinese food and the taste is way much better in... Read more

Arrived very late night at the Kempinski Hotel and was greeted by a young gentleman who assisted me in a very friendly manner with my luggage and check in. Very good welcome. It´s always nice to come back to the Kempinski Hotel Chengdu. The room was a bit old and needs some renovation. In general the hotel location is perfect to get around Chengdu, just 5 minute walk to the next metro station. I enjoyed the breakfast very much as well the attentative service throughout the hotel. The general impression of the hotel is that it needs a facelift but well maintained. The room was comfortable, clean and all amenities in place you expect from a Kempinski. Breakfast buffet was excellent as well as the Paulaner brewery restaurant. The staff took well care of us and it happened to be my birthday while I was there, the team surprised me with a birthday cake and a small gift. Made me almost feel home. Overall a very good stay with caring people, good food therefore value for money.

Beaten and old hotel, carpets smell like dust and smoke. Dirty and beat up. rooms, equally old. my colleague and me took a room, beds so close together might as well be one bed. Wifi is slow and needs wechat to connect, mold and crap around the vents. Staff is nice.

As soon as I arrived at the hotel a young man opened the boot of my taxi and began to put my luggage on a trolley. Check-in was very smooth and pleasant. The room was perfect for me, and had the added luxury of a bathtub, as well as a shower. Everything was spotless. The bed was so comfortable that I began to doze off just relaxing on it. Breakfast had a lot of variety, with both Western and Chinese dishes. Finding what I wanted in the breakfast buffet was a little difficult, but of cour... Read more

Second time staying at the Kempinski Chengdu. The location is convenient and a short walk from the metro station. Rooms are spacious and clean even though a bit dated. Hot water was a little bit iffy and only warm, water pressure is also a big low. Service is generally very friendly, with special thanks to Lady in Red Lisa, who was very helpful when I realized I left something in the room after checking out, and also helped me get the WiFi working. Breakfast was very well arranged and good in q... Read more

The Kempisnki in Chengdu is a very good Hotel for Businesstrips. The location, service and the rooms are the key factors to Book it again.! It is very close to the Metroline 1 Station Tongzilin (less then 5 min walk).Due to the heavy traffic you are faster by Metro then by car. From the Airport you need roughly 30min to the Hotel via the expressway. The area "Tongzilin" is in the backside of the Hotel with a lot of good western style restaurants. Via the metroline it is very easy to discover... Read more

From the time of my arrival (about midnight) till the day I left (7 days later), I always felt comfortable and relaxed. The staff, whether at reception, the concierge, in the dining hall or from room service, were always polite, helpful and happy to be of service. My room was of a good size, had a double bed (or was it 3 singles made up to be a double? for that's how big it was!), a bathroom with both, a tub and a multi-function shower, a shower that made one want to stay in it for as long as po... We loved staying in this hotel. The rooms are clean and the service was excellent. We especially enjoyed the breakfast, good quality and variety. We were lucky that in the week we stayed there was the Oktoberfest in their german restaurant. Great atmosphere with lively german band, authentic german food plus they brew their own beer!

We had a bit problem when checking (as booking was made via travel agent) but got it sorted out within 20 min. The room itself is of decent size (by European standard) with desk and sofa chair & stool, and has all the amenities in the bathroom. Worth mentioning is that we chose a room-only rate and bought our breakfast in the deli on ground floor of the hotel (can also put the bill to the room)which only cost us a fraction of price we would have paid for a full breakfast. Overall a delightful st... Read more

Enjoyed my three night stay here. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. On the second morning the dining room staff could remember our room number and our drink preferences. Just one of many examples of being made to feel like a special guest. The concierge ladies were fantastic too, going the extra mile to help out with a pre booked tour that went wrong. Our booking included two breakfasts, but on the third morning they gave us bags with a very generous packed breakfast for our 6am departur... Read more

Back in Chengdu - back at the Kempinski in Chengdu and again very pleasant. The staff is always accommodating and caring going the extra mile. The hotel in general appears a bit tired but the General Manager told us about the upcoming renovation which sounds exciting. The food in the Chinese restaurant was delicious and afterwards we enjoyed a fresh brewed beer at the micro-brewery restaurants garden outside. The spa has a large pool which I really like a lot for a morning swim. The Kempinski is... Read more

The Kempinski is located only a 15minutes drive from the airport, so perfect if you have to stay for a nigth between 2 fligths in Chengdu. They offer a very reliable transport service in a comfortable BMW 7er series. I stayed in a corner suite which was spacious and had a kitchen with a soft drinks free of charge. I liked that. This hotel is quite remarkable with an excellent service. The Paulaner restaurant serves good food until late and the breakfast choice is very diverse and complete. The rooms have all amenities that you need and the air conditioning is working properly. An excellent "no hassle" hotel to have no surprise.
