This is a top hotel. All aspects of service were excellent. Location is just north of the main city area, which was easily walkable, or one train stop on the metro right outside the hotel. Staff were all very polite and efficient. The breakfast spread was among the best of any that I have had, including personalised omelet and noodles stations. Occasionally a staff member had some difficulty with English, but help was always available and there were no problems.

The hotel was offering a fantastic rate and when I was checking in they upgraded me to a larger suite. Fantastic room...quiet, comfortable, and spacious. The bathroom is amazing. The bed is comfortable. The breakfast selection is excellent...absolutely no problem finding something to eat with a wide diversity of foods from which to choose. The customer service is some of the best I have found in China. If I am able to return to Chengdu I will stay here again with no reservations. The location is... Read more

This is a centrally located hotel. It is less than 1 minute walk from the nearest metro station. The reception desk could speak passable English and were polite in enquiries. The room is as expected from a hotel of this class, but the KTV was undergoing renovations. The gym looked a bit sparse and uninviting.

We stayed here 2 nights, we had two rooms, it was a really nice hotel and great value for the rate, the breakfast had everything you could want, the staff were friendly and helpful where they could, English is a problem all around China but we seemed to get by. Hotel location was great, fine for a walk around this big city which I was shocked by as I thought it was a small place, hence only two nights just to visit the pandas. If u are going for pandas you can only have photos at Dujingyan panda... Read more

The main selling point of the hotel is its location. The metro stop for Line 1 and Line 4 (Luomashi) is right next to the hotel. This helps with travel around the city. The hotel itself is nice. It is clean and safe and the rooms are well finished. Staff were helpful. The wifi and TV worked as they should.

Good room size with nice shower, clean room, very friendly staff, breakfast buffet with sufficient food selection. Personally missing better fruit selection (like in most chinese hotels fruit=water melon) New metro station opened just a few meters away. Excellent working WiFi connection.

Really beautiful hotel. Our room was huge. Free standing bath, shower, massive bed and the nest views of the city and football stadium (we had three different double windows to look out of). Staff were really helpful and pleasant. Language barrier was never a problem as if one person didn't understand us there was always someone else who did. Highly recommend the breakfast. Soooooo many options to choose from including traditional Chinese, American, Continental and salad bar. You would never go... Read more

We got to the hotel via taxi and paid about 69 RMB from the airport to the hotel. We were ecstatic to find out that Subway Line 4 has opened and one of the entrance/exit is right in front of it. It was pretty quick to check in and out of the hotel. Of course we had to pay a 4,000 deposit since we stayed 3 nights. Front desk and service was excellent. They also had non-smoking floors which was great but I can‚??t say so about some of the elevators. It appears that people smoke in there too. The r... Read more

From the minute I arrived to the day of my departure the service was excellent, most staff spoken reasonable English & those who didn't found someone who did. the room was exactly what I needed for a 3 night stay with a very large comfortable bed. The location was good although with the tube very close by. The breakfast was very good with a great choice of local & western dishes. the hotel also offers no smoking floors Would highly recommend this hotel for both business & pleasure if visiting C... I stayed here last week with my husband and mother in two suites for four nights, making the booking following the good reviews. We spent our first three nights at The Ritz Carlton, around the corner, which was a wonderful experience. I am sorry to say, the Dorsett Grand is not a 5* hotel as advertised, it is run as a 3* at best with 4* furnishings. I course fully appreciate there is a language barrier, but check in was not at all friendly, it was more like ‚??what on earth do you want‚??. The ... Read more

I must say this is a very pleasant stay for me and my family. Comparing with the hotels I had stayed in my previous trips to China, I will rate this a truly nice experience. Last monh (June 2016) we stayed in Deluxe King room and it's very roomy for 2 adults and one child. Bathroom area is very spacious with separate tub and shower. I appreciate the pleasant and helpful service from the staff at counter, concierge and housekeeping. Getting taxi is no problem at anytime. Concierge staff assi... Read more

I really enjoyed my stay at the Dorsett Grand. It feels like a five-star hotel with classy, elegant décor and a calm, sophisticated ambiance. We had booked a deluxe room but were upgraded to a suite, which was spacious with separate sitting room and bedroom, and pleasant in beige and brown. The bed was large enough and comfortable but had a tendency to transfer movement. The bathroom in the first room we were assigned was a bit problematic, with a shower in the tub and badly designed so that fl... Read more

We ended up booking a room for two nights at the Dorsett grand earlier this month given the apart-hotel we'd booked near Tianfu Square incorrectly gave us a single studio instead of a double. The Dorsett Grand is a large hotel and accommodated for us at 2am in the morning, but it is quite difficult if you do not speak mandarin to converse with the staff (understandable given we were in China but not if a hotel claims to be 4 stars plus). We asked to be placed in a double non-smoking room and we... Read more

The Dorsett Grand Hotel in Chengdu is a true 4 star western style hotel and you will like it. The hotel is in downtown Chengdu and is approached by a small hill leading to a large, airy lobby. I was checked-in a reasonable time (all Chinese hotels require a copy of your passport) by a friendly agent with good English. I was given a room type I requested on a non-smoking floor (a real non-smoking room). My room was quite large and as nice as any high-end western chain. I had a comfortable ki... Read more

Really great location - easily accessible to explore the city! Only thing that wasn't "5 stars" was the concierge; they were okay but didn't call us back in regards to helping us make reservations, etc. Also, our room often had a strange smell... Seemed like it was coming from the pipes. Regardless, I would definitely recommend the hotel!

We were very impressed with this hotel. The staff did everything to answer our questions about the sights in the area. The room was very comfortable and quiet. We were surprised at how nice our room and bathroom was. It was far more luxurious than we expected. The hotel is located just across the street from many restaurants. There are also nearby alleyways full of small restaurants where we mostly ate. There is a metro stop just next to the hotel so it was easy to take the metro here from the t... Read more

This place is awesome. Beautiful hotel. Nice, clean, and spacious rooms. Great views from higher floors. Incredible breakfast buffet. Dinner menu was good too. Location seems to be very near a lot of public transit. Safe area. Best part is the service - the staff are extremely eager to please, and their English is the best I've seen at China hotels so far. Really great and helpful people. Can't find anything negative to say!

Stayed here for 3 nights and would recommend it. The price/ quality ratio definitely fits the rooms provided. This however is by no means a 5 star hotel. The rooms are about the only thing that relates to a 5 star hotel. They are modern and ours had an amazing view on the city. Housekeeping kept everything very clean and the rooms very clean each day. The food is on a level of 3 star hotel. We did try a few things during the days, only "european" food and maybe the chinese dishes are better, ... Read more

I was mostly interested in the neighborhood when Dorsett Grand Chengdu popped up. I was impressed when I checked in that someone who spoke good English helped and answered my questions-internet? MaPo Tofu restaurants? etc. My room would have to rank high my standards. The room was large and had everything a traveler could ask for. Breakfast was overwhelming, too much to choose from. Dorsett Grand Chengdu is a 5-star hotel with good and professional staff. Me and my wife liked our stay there and the luxury it provides for a good price. The interior design is interesting. I imagine a Chinese architect was assigned the task to design an European looking hotel and went all in to achieve this. It looks more western than most hotels in the west would. But still it comes with an interesting mix of Chinese influences. The rooms are very spacious and clad with brown and white marmo... Read more

We actually had 2 nights at Buddhazen hotel then finished Chengdu with final night here for nice bit of pampering. We booked deluxe suite and it was lovely with lots of space. Breakfast had great choice and was nicely laid out with spacious seating. Metro stop 20 metres from hotel which we like to use and we went to Global mall as we had time. This mall has two hotels, aqua park, ice rink, eateries and shops but don't get off at named metro stop for mall as you will have to walk and it's too fa... Read more

I have never felt this way in China before because of my lack of understanding of the Chinese language. At Dorsett Grand, Chengdu, almost all the front desk staff speak English. From front desk to housekeeping, they are very courteous and helpful, always with a smile and warm greetings. The room is clean and spacious. Some rooms come with bath tub as well. They have a Chinese tea "bar" in their rooms. Their pillows are heavenly. You have a choice of pillows - down pillows, lavender pillows and ... Read more

Nice modern hotel, part of a package holiday so do not know what the room rate was paid. Good choice at breakfast. Not really central to anything, we had a coach to take us about. Staff friendly, drinks expensive. Would rate this as 4 star (did not see a rating displayed).

This is a great place of staying in Central Chengdu. The staff was helpful and communicated well. Most spoke great English but some of the custodial staff had to resort to other ways but were very successful and courteous. I would stay here again!

My wife and I recently spent 3 nights at the Dorsett Grand. Our stay in Chengdu was the last stop of an 18 day trip to China and the Dorsett was by far the best hotel that we stayed in. The room was modern and well laid out and contained a large bathroom. Breakfast was outstanding, with a large range of both western-style and Chinese dishes on offer. The service from the staff was also very good. Would happily recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Stayed here a total of 5 nights and enjoyed it tremendously. Location is perfect, all the places of interest are within walking distance- wenshu monastery, Jinli Street etc Steve was especially helpful in giving advise on where we could head in the city. All the staff were really friendly, would stay here again in Chengdu :)

This is a 5 star hotel but it's much cheaper than the intentional brands in Chengdu and not in their league for that it's more of a 4.5 star hotel. The rooms are fine , bathrooms were large - bathtub , infinity shower , two sinks and city views. The hotel is well located to the metro but there's not much going on for tourists but still you can ride the metro or take a cab. There is one of the best Sichuan hot pot restaurants opposite the hotel. The hotel sent me a fruit platter and birthday mes... Read more

I would rate this hotel as a 4* with friendly and efficient check in staff. The biggest issue for me was the rooms which were nicely appointed however dated with stains on the carpet in both rooms we had and electrically operated net curtains which were faded and stained with age. The rooms were cleaned and the beds very comfortable with nice amenity kits in the bathroom. The breakfast was a good selection of both Chinese and Western dishes and could not be faulted. Overall we would stay her... Read more
