The hotel is mainly for Chinese people or for people who go to Tsinghua or Peking University. The staff does not always speak fluent English and does not dare say no. Do not hesitate asking for the manager if you feel that there may be any misunderstanding at the front desk. Take the small card with names of places to go to in Chinese characters, this is very helpful. Breakfast is very good, both Western and Chinese. The Korean restaurant is also excellent. It would be helfpul if the concierge... Read more

I stayed a week at the Wenjin Hotel on the 18th floor. The weather was good for a few days, and I had a beautiful view of the mountains, before severe smog descended and the view was horrible. The hotel room was nice with HBO and CNN on TV and excellent shower and bathtub. Hot water was plentiful except on Friday night, perhaps at peak hour in the evening. Internet is free but can be really slow. I found I got good internet access before breakfast, but this meant I had to get key internet-depen... Read more

Hotel is conveniently located near the South Gate of Tsinghua University. I stayed there while visiting a colleague at the School of Environment. It was a short 10 minute walk to the School. The room was modern, clean, and quite comfortable with a nice desk for working and comfortable seating. Communication was a bit of an issue as few of the staff can speak English. Thank goodness for Simon, a staff person who I believe was the head bellman. He was invaluable in assisting with communicating wit... Read more

Stayed four night. The hotel is of course good, but given price and rating, I am not impressed. Age is starting to show in the room, especially the shower. Ventilation very noisy. Had to switch it off to sleep. Luckily it was not hot outside. Nice breakfast, though the Western food was not quite right. The Danish did not taste like one, nor did the croissant. And the coffee did not even smell coffee - black water. But even so ... the breakfast is a plus.

The hotel is located close to Tsinghua University. I jogged on campus for a few times during my weeklong stay. The breakfast was excellent. It offered western and Chinese selections. Very nice. The room was large and bed was comfortable. It has international English channels. It also has 110 volts plugs. Will visit again.

I was put here as a guest on behalf of a local university, and the last thing I want is to be ungrateful, but I'll give an honest review from the perspective of a western traveler with a lot of experience in China. (To qualify my review, I suspect the hotel is probably a much more satisfying destination for Chinese travelers.) On the positive side, the staff were all very nice and accommodating, although it might be more difficult for a traveler without Chinese language skills. The restauran... Read more

I recently stayed at this property while visiting Tsinghua University. The Wenjin Hotel is located near the South Gate of Tsinghua University. There is a lot of activity in the surround area and plenty of food options nearby. I was quite impressed by the hotel, as I did not have high expectations. The staff were all friendly; however, some of the front desk reception ladies did not speak English. This is unacceptable, especially given the fact that many foreigners stay at the property to vi... The hotel is perhaps best located for visiting Tsinghua University and for being in the heart of the Beijing silicon valley. But the hotel has to be the worst managed hotel we have stayed in in the course of many visits to Beijing. It all starts with the front desk staff. all three did not even have a rudimentary English competence. After an interminable long registration process which among other things included copying at least five times every page in my passport we were rewarded with best ... Read more
