Sweet staff, great lobby, perfect location if you are up for some socialising and partying in a foreign friendly part of Beijing. Rooms are spacious, very modern with warmth and clean feel. The whole concept is current and top notch. The gym is great and so is the pool, where you can actually swim:-)

We recently stayed at the Opposite House, which is a relatively new hotel in the Embassy District of Beijing. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous and there were plenty of English speakers. The decor of the whole hotel is very "minimalist." The lobby has some funky sculptures of brightly colored large rubber glove molds hanging down from the ceiling. Our room was spacious and modern with an iPad instead of an information book...this had some great suggestions for places to visit. ... Read more

I have chosen to stay at The Opposite House after the great experience staying at The Temple House at Chengdu. Hotel was located at the heart of Sanlitun with easy accessibility to restaurants and cafes. Staff were very helpful and the room were spacious in contemporary style. Minimalist and yet elegant. As I've stayed for 5 nights, I received a surprise gesture everyday (face mask to wind down the tiring day, wooden book mark with chinese pattern engraved) with handwritten note which to me ... Firstly, this is without a doubt an excellent hotel. I should know, I've stayed here a number of times over the last 6 months. It is a calm escape from the bustle of Beijing. The free mini bar doesn't hurt either. The gym is well equipped, beautiful subterranean swimming pool and a top notch breakfast. The location is good for shopping and there are so many amazing options for dining. It's not super close to the big sightseeing spots but well located for my purposes. I recommend this hotel... We stayed here during our last night in Beijing, after traveling for 2 1/2 weeks in China. We had just returned from a Yangtze River cruise. I only wish we could have stayed longer! We really loved this hotel: The modern design, access to restaurants and shopping, location, and room. The room is minimalist in design with a lovely wooden bathtub and separate rainforest shower. The bedroom and bathroom areas are separated only by a glass wall and curtain (so if you like more privacy, this might no... Read more

The staff at the Opposite House were amazing. They were all genuinely attentive and would go out of their way to make sure your need are taking care of. I have seen many great services BUT this hotel beats them all. I want to personally thanks Jeffrey, the intern, who helped me repeatedly during my stay for making me feel... Read more

I've been in the hotel the 3rd time now during the last year. This hotel is completely different to the most of other 5star hotels I know. You will find a hotel with a unique design both in the rooms and the public areas. You have a selection of restaurants on a high quality level. Location and surrounding is great. The staff is very kind, extremely helpful, so how could it be better? So I'm looking forward to my next trip to Beijing, when I will be guest in the hotel again, of course..

I lived in Beijing for 5 years and this is my favorite hotel in the city. Quality is as good at it gets at any 5 star I've been to and I've been to many all over the world. They get the details right, and the service is uncompromising, friendly and not stiff. For example, my mother was uncomfortable with the type of mattress (though it was good for us), and the mattress was replaced immediately with a smile and without question. Perfect for modern couples that just want to enjoy themselves an... Read more

The hotel building is pretty darn cool, minimalist yet warm and comfortable. Our rooms were well appointed and very cozy, enabling me to sleep solid through the night. The staff make me feel welcome from the moment they greeted me at the front entrance, and their attention to detail was outstanding. Each night at turn down service, they left different, personalized little notes and a treat, which I started looking forward to! Also, minibar snacks and beverages were complimentary, a refreshing s... Read more

I stayed at the Opposite House for three days this month while in Beijing for work. The hotel was in a great location with several interesting shops, bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. The room was very large and modern and very comfortable. The staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful, they even arranged a car for me (free!) to visit an area of Beijing I wanted to see. The restaurants in the hotel were top notch, too. I plan on staying for my next trip!

I've lived in China for five years and have been traveling here regularly for eleven. The Opposite House in Sanlitun is among my favorite places to stay. Service is attentive, not overbearing, the staff young but well-trained. Food is excellent: 1) Sureno Restaurant on the basement floor has European fare (including excellent wines); 2) Village Café (indoor & outdoor setting) which is great for breakfast & lunch, many favor it for business meetings; 3) Jing Yaa Tang -- I've only tried... Booked this hotel for two nights from July 6th till July 8th but stayed only one night. A great hotel but somewhat disappointed. I booked this hotel because I like the style and trust the services of Swire hotels. However, Opposite House in Beijing is not up the standard of the Swire House brand comparing with the Upper House in HK and Temple House in CD. 1) At first glance, the green glasses on the hotel building make it look like a Express Hotel. 2) It was opened in 2008. we stayed for a week for our wedding anniversary and it was a great experience. a visual delight, with each part of the hotel's aesthetic thought through. The breakfasts had a great selection, and the pool was a great place to unwind. We got upgraded on arrival, and the staff were always attentive and thoughtful. would recommend dining at the jang ta baal restaurant and grabbing a drink at the hip bar on a weekend. would stay again any day!

I recently stayed at this hotel from July 18 to 20. This was around my 5th time in Beijing and while I usually stay in the Wangfujing area, I decided to try a different area as I was traveling alone anyway, and it turned out to be an excellent decision. I was a big fan of Sanlitun - there are a lot of varieties of different foods from street food to upscale restaurants, the area is clean, and there's a bustling nightlife even on a Monday night. A friend who lives in Beijing had recommended it, steering us away from the chain hotels and we were so glad he did. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the food in the restaurant great and the rooms spacious and beautifully furnished. Good choice of catering and interesting district in Beijing to explore. It is rare to find truly good service at a high design hotel. I'll definitely stay here again and have recommended it to my friends too.
