Sweet staff, great lobby, perfect location if you are up for some socialising and partying in a foreign friendly part of Beijing. Rooms are spacious, very modern with warmth and clean feel. The whole concept is current and top notch. The gym is great and so is the pool, where you can actually swim:-)

We recently stayed at the Opposite House, which is a relatively new hotel in the Embassy District of Beijing. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous and there were plenty of English speakers. The decor of the whole hotel is very "minimalist." The lobby has some funky sculptures of brightly colored large rubber glove molds hanging down from the ceiling. Our room was spacious and modern with an iPad instead of an information book...this had some great suggestions for places to visit. ... Read more

I have chosen to stay at The Opposite House after the great experience staying at The Temple House at Chengdu. Hotel was located at the heart of Sanlitun with easy accessibility to restaurants and cafes. Staff were very helpful and the room were spacious in contemporary style. Minimalist and yet elegant. As I've stayed for 5 nights, I received a surprise gesture everyday (face mask to wind down the tiring day, wooden book mark with chinese pattern engraved) with handwritten note which to me ... Firstly, this is without a doubt an excellent hotel. I should know, I've stayed here a number of times over the last 6 months. It is a calm escape from the bustle of Beijing. The free mini bar doesn't hurt either. The gym is well equipped, beautiful subterranean swimming pool and a top notch breakfast. The location is good for shopping and there are so many amazing options for dining. It's not super close to the big sightseeing spots but well located for my purposes. I recommend this hotel... We really loved this hotel: The modern design, access to restaurants and shopping, location, and room. The room is minimalist in design with a lovely wooden bathtub and separate rainforest shower. I've been in the hotel the 3rd time now during the last year. This hotel is completely different to the most of other 5star hotels I know. You will find a hotel with a unique design both in the rooms and the public areas. You have a selection of restaurants on a high quality level. Location and surrounding is great. The staff is very kind, extremely helpful, so how could it be better? So I'm looking forward to my next trip to Beijing, when I will be guest in the hotel again, of course..

I lived in Beijing for 5 years and this is my favorite hotel in the city. Quality is as good at it gets at any 5 star I've been to and I've been to many all over the world. They get the details right, and the service is uncompromising, friendly and not stiff. For example, my mother was uncomfortable with the type of mattress (though it was good for us), and the mattress was replaced immediately with a smile and without question. Perfect for modern couples that just want to enjoy themselves an... Read more

The hotel was in a great location with several interesting shops, bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. The room was very large and modern and very comfortable. I booked this hotel because I like the style and trust the services of Swire hotels. However, Opposite House in Beijing is not up the standard of the Swire House brand comparing with the Upper House in HK and Temple House in CD. 1) At first glance, the green glasses on the hotel building make it look like a Express Hotel. 2) It was opened in 2008. The facilites of the hotel including pool gym restaurants and bars are all well thought of in a modern era mixing practicality and style in a calm non pretentious environment. The STAFF including Zee ( the assistant Director of Guest experience) as well as Crystal,Marlboro,Sandy and the other truly s... Read more

The last time I strayed in this hotel was in September 2013, exactly three years ago. Nothing has changed. Not withstanding the bad air and the emergence of more competitors in the city, the Opposite House has proved remarkably steady, retaining all the qualities which marked it out since it first opened its doors : the distinctive look, the zen-like rooms, the vibrancy, the quality of its cuisine, the service, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and the value for money. As a frequent ... Read more

The hotel is located in Sanlitun, the original consulate area, hence expat hangout, then become this cool hipster hangouts with many retail shops, bars, restaurants and nightlife. The room is big, in minimalist decor, all wood bathroom, seriously ALL wood, even the sink and tub is made in wood, all inclusive mini bar. Concierge was helpful, gave us really good dining suggestions. It was a very pleasant stay, highly recommended!

What an awesome place - this very funky hotel is in a great location near shops, restaurants and bars. The staff are amazing - customer service at it's best. The little touches enhanced the experience - a la cartel breakfast menu so didn't get sick if the same old buffet; little gifts everyday - just little things like a business card holder and my favourite - a face mask. Everything was easy and just worked - and very, very comfortable. They did everything to make this my home away from ... Read more

I loved my stay at The Opposite House. Stepping through the door, you enter a stylish lobby and are greeted by helpful staff. It's clear this isn't your ordinary hotel and the rooms don't disappoint. They are modern and fun, while still being comfortable. I had breakfast, lunch and dinner in the lobby restaurant and each meal was delicious, with fresh ingredients and robust flavors. The Hotel is connected to a high-end mall and adjacent to additional shops and restaurants. Beijing is not ... Read more

The Opposite House is by far the most amazing hotel that my husband and I have stayed in. The service is like no other, everything is done to make your time and stay in Beijing special and unique. The lovely door staff, to the friendly staff who check you in to the restaurant staff it is phenomenal. A special special call out to Frank - he made our holiday the most memorable experience- in fact it made me cry he was so helpful and all his suggestions were fantastic. I feel filled with so many po... Read more

The room design made us feel at home the minute the door opened. The open feeling, the electronics that are user friendly, versatile and the audio was wonderful, amenities that have both a touch of class and gave us an "at home" feeling and the dining room food made for a great visit. The BEST however was not just the physical part of the hotel rather the staff. Everyone was friendly and helpful expressing a sincere desire to take care of us. We especially thank Zelotes Lam ("Zee") ? Assis... Read more

There's minimalism and then there's Opposite House in #Beijing. Designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma; this unique property takes on Chinese & Japanese art bringing together beautiful clean lines with warm materials such as bamboo. The over extended soaking bamboo bathtub was nightly appreciated by my aching legs. Traditional peking duck with homemade "pancakes" and condiments at Jing Yaa Tang is a must. The hotel is centrally located with easy access to many stores and nightlife alternative... Read more

Booked a room last minute and I'm so pleased we did. Staff from start to finish were excellent. We arrived and met Zelotes, the assistant director of guest experience who was very friendly and welcoming. He gave us lots of Beijing hints and tips. He also stopped to say hello asked us how our day was and whether we needed anything from him and his team. A great touch which you certainly don't get in other hotels. Our room was huge, beautifully designed with comp mini bar, a massive bath (oh ... Read more

Don't have enough words to describe how beautiful the Opposite House hotel is. It is in an amazing location, close to lots of shops and restaurants but the highlight of our stay was definitely the fact that the staff was extremely helpful. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed! If I ever go back to Beijing I would definitely stay there! 10 Stars!

Thanks to Jing Yaa Tang for giving us a very nice time of dinner last night. My mom only can take the light food, and Cher was passed by and overheard our conversation when we talked about it.After that she took order for us and reminded us kindly that the cauliflower has shrimp paste inside. She worried about the smell that can't be taken by my mom. Mom was so surprised and appreciated it. We pre-ordered a roast duck. Cher was the one who changed our side plates quickly before the duck was serve... Read more

they treat you like family (once they get used to the irritating demands), nothing seems too much of a problem. When I pushed it a bit far (fairy lights, please?) they were at least polite enough to go see ... In my year in Beijing, the Opposite house has been my weekend stopover, the bar we pop in and out of, the minute steak and arugula in the village cafe a staple, and when we need the glam Serano is all about excellent food and service. Thanks, team!

I was staying in Beijing already with friends and decided to do a "staycation" at Opposite House. Very nice hotel, and the service was top notch. We also had dinner at Serano. The meal was perfectly prepared and again, outstanding service. The hotel is in a great location with access to shopping and nightlife. Went to Migas for drinks just around the corner. Highly recommended!

I visited back in June (a bit delayed in my review) and was immediately impressed with the overall design of the hotel. Simple, functional, modern. Room: Clean, large, comfortable bed, large shower, nice amenities, and great mini-bar (included). Only thing I noticed was that being on the top floor during the summer meant the hallways were quite warm. Luckily, the A/C in the room worked just fine! Service: Overall the service was what I would expect for a boutique-style hotel. No one stoo... Read more

Have been for a hen weekend, a trip with my husband and now again with my father in law and husband. Each time service has been amazing, rooms top notch and food very good. Location can be a little traffic ridden but all in all I think a good place to explore Beijing from - good restaurants nearby and on the right side of the city for airport access.
