This is a just above average hotel. It was clean and comfortable. I was a bit annoyed that despite a pre-booking, and the hotel taking my payment very quickly after the booking, it charged the going rate of the day. Consequently, at checkout time, they took more money. You would endear yourself more to your customers if you just took the pre-booking rate and no further adjustment to the room component, whether up or down. I would prefer that you advise that a deposit will be taken at the co... Read more

The location of the Pentahotel is excellent. It is within very short walking distance of the metro (subway), which can take you virtually anywhere in Beijing once you learn how to use it. It is also within walking distance of the Forbidden City and other attractions, although the walk might be around 30 minutes. The metro will get you there faster. The rooms were small, although not terribly so, and very clean. The bed was quite comfortable. The bathroom was a very small "one person" facility. ... Read more

Great location - just a few minutes by foot from the subway station, and pretty much located in the city centre (you can walk to Tianmen square). Rooms are spacious and clean, bathroom not so big, but the waterflow in the (big) shower is just wow. The AC worked fine, and it would be much nicer if you could open a window, but that's not the case. The sound isolation in rooms is poor, one night the people in the next room slept with the TV on, and I could hear it as it was in my room. The lobby is... Read more

Located in the centre of Beijing, close to many attractions and about 3 mins to the next metro station. Spacious room with very comfortable bed (best bed I've had in China). Bar and restaurant staff is very kind and courteous. Would've been great if the employees at the reception spoke better English. Nevertheless we coped pretty well. Great value for a reasonable price. Westerners will definitely enjoy their stay here.

Spacious, nice and quiet hotel. Good hairdryer power too! We had trouble with the wifi but we called 59 and the IT support services were amazing! I stayed here during travels through China for 3 nights and found it overall to be an okay stay. To start with the positive this hotel is very well located especially if you plan on touring around Beijing. It has close proximity to Tiananmen Square and is close to a metro stop (very useful). In addition there is places to eat close by including a large mall (Glory Mall) where there is numerous food shops. Pentahotel is a European hotel chain and it clearly caters to the North American traveller. The staff were very friendly and all spoke english quite well. The rooms were very large and were clean and modern. It was situated in a great location as well, about 2-3 blocks from the closest metro station and not more than a 15-20 minute subway ride from places like Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Also best breakfast we had in china. Staff great. Ground floor had very trendy look to it and had a pool table which was great. Surprised more people don't hang out at the bar because it's a great place to relax for a drink or shoot some pool. Would most definitely recommend this place

We can say that it is a Good hotel even though any things could be better like wifi, organization for the breakfast. The staff is available and friendly and must continue to learn English to help better the customers.

I liked this place. The room was not huge but it was well-appointed. The bed was nice and firm. It's right next to Chongwenmen subway station and so we easily took the subway over to the charming hutong areas. Breakfast in the lobby was great. For the fair price, I'd stay there again.

I enjoyed this hotel. Clean, convenient to attractions and market. Good breakfast, English speaking front desk and quiet. Non-smoking room was fresh but hallways smelled of smoke. Non-smoking dining area and lobby smelled fresh. Nice linens and room size for solo traveler. Great two day stay with no problems.

This hotel is advertised as a 4-star property, but my experience was that of a 2-star hotel. Service was very poor and it gives the impression this hotel is short of staff, everybody seemed to be busy and not in a good mood for listening to guests nor being of any assistance. Check-in was a really painful experience, they had us sitting and waiting for hours in a sofa we later found out was part of a restaurant and bar. Interestingly, we had two rooms reserved and the receptionists kept saying ... Read more

The Pentahotel Beijing is in a reasonably convenient location - just a few stops on the metro from many of the major attractions. Overall, I'd (just) give it 4 stars, but on our floor at least the rooms felt a little tired. However they do serve a mean Long Island Iced Tea in the bar and after a few of those everything was forgiven.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. Staff fantastic - could not have friendlier and nothing was a problem. Tour organiser also friendly and efficient. Room was great and had everything needed. Only negative was a musty smell in the hallway and a bit in the room. Otherwise great place to stay.

The Pentahotel is in a good central location in Beijing. Taxi rides to nearby attractions are cheap (although getting someone to bring you back is a different matter). The rooms are large and clean. My bathroom could have used some refurbishment (see photo). The breakfast was good, although the pastries (danishes, croissants etc) seemed like they had been cooked the day before. But there was a good range of choices. Although if you like tea the black tea is served from an urn and it is extra for ... Read more

A great place for a good night's rest. After a lot of walking in Beijing, it's nice to sleep in beds that are actually soft. The rooms were kept clean and were not out-dated. There is free WIFI and several channels on the TV that are in English for entertainment. It was about a 20 minute walk to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. There is a subway station, McDonalds, KFC, and Starbucks right around the corner. The price was very reasonable - we would definitely stay again.

The hotel is good, but staff didn't speak English very well. They didn't explain we needed to pay for a deposit when we checked in and then charged us again during check out and didn't cancell the deposit. Now we are checking with the bank to cancel or we will be charged twice.

A terndy young in spirit hotel, full with young poeple. I don't know beijing very well but it seems to be well located. The rooms are good and maybe my only criticism is the fact that the bar closes relatively early... We took rooms without breakfast so I can't relate...

The first thing I noticed when I went into the room is that it was very dark. The Air conditioning was very poor but just about got the room bearable. Sleep quality was good, the bed was firm and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent offering a wide range of western and Chinese options. The bar prices however are aimed at ripping off western tourists (nearly Ā£10 for a pint of Tiger beer!!!!). The hotel is in a very convenient location for exploring the city. The Chongwenmen subway station is very close. It gives you access to lines 2 and 5. The staff spoke good English so it was easy to check-in and check-out. The hotel is connected to the Beijing New World Center on the 5th floor. As soon as you exit the door to enter the mall, you can take the escalator down to shop for clothes or turn right and walk down a corridor that will lead you to the food court. A boutique hotel located near Chongwen subway station. It is about 20 mins walk to Temple of Heaven. It has the basic amenities such as toiletries, hot shower, in-room wifi, cable TV.. The room is large and clean, the beds are comfortable. However, the main entrance of the hotel is located at a backstreet which taxi drivers would not want to turn to. They usually stop about 50m away on the main street. though the stretch is safe to walk, it wasn't a pleasant walk in the cold autumn wind. Fina... Read more

I've spent four days in this hotel, It is an international relaxing gathering place, a so good breakfast, for the food and drinks too. Our rooms we've found everyday im order and very clean. If there is one fault to find it has been requested a deposit of 1000 yuan upon arrival and the check in was aloof and standoffish.

Yes, it is close and walking distance to ToH but for Tiamen, Forbidden Palace and Wangfujing you have to take to the bicycle provided for rent by the Hotel. Funky and catchy website which I thought would lead to the hotel having a 'citizen M' look and feel but was greet with very tired old rooms in desperate need of a revamp.
