If your idea of visiting Beijing is to walk around casually amongst all of the famous pieces of Beijing cultural history, right in the middle of the city, right next to the Temple of Heaven and the Forbidden City, this is a good hotel for you. Ample, well-lit lobby, very nice English-speaking staff, good food and drinks menu for the bar, and a well-contained glass room for smokers, so that you don't get infected with one of the foulest stenches known to men. I like this place, and it will be on ... Read more

In the center of Beijing, adjacent to the Forbidden City (palace of the emperors), there is a quiet and tree lined elegant street, Donghuamen Street (East Grand Gate Street). This hotel is right on this street and walk distance to the Forbidden City and Tian An Men Square. Highly recommended for its location and stylish and simplistic decor. It is clean and comfortable, professionally run.

The hotel located nearby forbidden city and wangfujing area. I like the place because if give you an access to some beautiful garden for strolling in the morning and a 5 minutes walk to wangfujing area for the night. The customer service speak a good english, however what i see the women customer service treat guest way better than the men. These womens are vry sincere and help you with anything still with a warm smile. The room is clean, but the bed is so hard.

I am just going to list down my comments in a random format. -Room is quite spacious especially the washroom. The bed/pillow may be hard for some but was alright for me. -If you like to travel via public transport from airport to hotel which i have tried is pretty fast but involved multiple (but short) mode of transportation so not recommended if you have big luggages - take airport express alight after 2 stations at dongzhimen>change to normal subway line 2 and alight after 5 stations at chongw... We upgraded to a room with a larger lounge, internet and bath. It was worth it. Windows opened out to the street and we were able to get a breeze in at night. Trying to adjust the temp control as it was very warm outside didnt work. Some staff had better English than others. Well located hotel with a walk to Tianamen Square/Forbidden City. The hotel does have bikes available, which can be ordered via internet or booked when at the hotel. Breakfast was included with our deal. Eggs/omeletes cooked... Read more

I thoroughly enjoyed a three day stay at Hotel Kapok. The Forbidden City is just a block and a half down the street, with Tianamen Square just a few blocks over. The Wangfujing shopping street (the Fifth Avenue of Beijing) and many small shops and dining options were within easy walking distance. The hotel itself was immaculate and well maintained, with comfortable beds and a generously sized bathroom with western style toilet and large shower. The only negative was that the bathroom walls wer... Read more

Except for the acceptable location, with walking distance from the Forbidden City and metro, there is not much more to add. The room was not even close to the description from the on-line brochure. The bathroom walls were all in glass, which looks really cool until someone needs to use the toilet, because there is no door, only a curtain. It was far from the luxurious room we could see in photos, with old wallpapers and dirty windows. The room garden is also not private because it is facing the ... Read more

We stayed at Hotel Kapok when we arrived in Beijing. The hotel feels really luxurious and our room was large and modern with a fantastic bathroom and great comfortable beds. The location is perfect, being between the forbidden city and the main shopping street. The only fault was the breakfast which was very expensive and not worth t... Read more

The location of this hotel is very good. It is very central to everything. The rooms are very modern and stylish with lots of storage room. We had a family room that had a large seating area with a huge TV-we rarely used it-and a big desk/workspace. The bed was a king sized bed. The bathroom was huge with an enormous bathtub which we never used. They could probably have used that space a little more wisely. When we arrived they seemed surprised that we had three guests staying in the room... Read more

Never ever again! Is is one of the worst hotel we had during our 30 days in China:( the staff was nice and helpful but their English is not enough to work in the reception or restaurant:( It was poor quality for the money you pay. Travelling with wife and two grown-up children, stayed there in June for 4 days, using two rooms. The hotel is well located. Make sure you have the name and address in Chinese characters to show to your taxi driver (it is available on their website). For us, getting there from the airport was no problem - showed the address, taxi drove us there in 50 minutes for 100 RMB. Hotel itself is value for money. Location perfect for exploring Beijing. That is the best I have to say about this hotel. Everything was ok, but I didn´t feel welcome or comfortable at this hotel. The hotel doesn't have anything spectacular, but it's walking distance from the Forbidden City and other monuments. That's a great thing, since you want to avoid taking a cab because of the horrible traffic everywhere. The other downside is they didn't have breakfast included, and metro is quite far (20+ walk). I would stay there again with no issues, but the hotel itself doesn't have anything remarkable.

The Hotel was a disappointment in so many ways. Photo's of the hotel do not depict the current look of the hotel. It is tired and requires a makeover. Our room was at the back overlooking a dark gloomy internal garden. A construction site was close by and worked to all hours. The bathroom had no privacy for the toilet. The restaurant was dated, expensive and the reception staff were clueless most of the time. Will not recommend.

Nice location - close to Wangfujin & Forbidden city. Clean and simple room facilities. Sometime other guests are very noise especially if they are in their private garden. Because of the buidling design, the room was lack of sunlights even I opened the curtains, and my room was the "inner" room, so the window are far away from the building facades. Each room has a courtyard garden and clever design. Front desk staff are attentive and the whole hotel has a boutique feel to it. Walking distance to Tian'en Men Square, The Forbidden City and Wang Fujiang shopping mall and night markets. Smoking areas well segregated from the non-smoking hotel areas. "Tony" (anglicized version of his name) on the front desk is especially good - sorts the inevitable hassles and a pleasure to deal with.

Modern fairly new hotel; conveniently located to the Forbidden Palace and major attractions. Serviceable staff at front desk who spoke English. Breakfast options were excellent - both a wide range of Western foods with very good French pastries as well as Chinese foods - we mixed both to try a bit of everything. Only downside was the bed...the mattresses are hard as rocks which made for an uncomfortable sleep during the 3 nights we were in town.
