Hotel has a great history. One of the earliest hotels built in Beijing. From what we were told, the hotel was converted from a palace. When you first enter, you can see this to be true. Amidst the modern setting of Beijing, this beautiful hotel, with its quaint tapestries, is grand in stature indeed. With all of the modern fittings, flat screen TV c/w speakers in the bathroom, the rooms have an old fashioned,yester-year feel, which we loved. We requested a wheelchair accessible room, which we r... Read more

Loved it when we stayed in Beijing at this Hotel in2014. Really reasonable rate for a totally back in time quality deco and beautiful spacious room. Traffic bad because it locates right centre of BeiJing and there are restrictions on traffic surround this hotel. We walked most of the time then call a taxi if really needed. But then when we tried to book as a family again, our booking was cancelled because the rate was not available for non Chinese passport holder. But the cancellation was not ... Read more

This hotel was probably great in its day, now you pay an exorbitant price for the location and nothing else (there are cheaper, better hotels near the forbidden city). This hotel is old, the staff struggle to speak english (which is a problem being right next to an international destination like the Forbidden City), the wifi doesn't work at all, and there is no such thing as air conditioning. If you stay here in the summer you'll be completely miserable. Do yourself a favor and stay at a newer, ... Read more

You can walk to Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Wangfujing Shopping Street, Quanjude Duck Restaurant, Local Food Street, the old Cathedral, Oriental Plaza... all within 5-10 minute walks. No need for guided tours... that's probably equivalent to the cost the hotel room for one night... Lots of great restaurants in the area...and you can walk over to the Grand Hyatt for night time entertainment or even better restaurants...

The hotel is centrally located near the Forbidden City. Staff was ok. Rooms are ok but furniture is tired. That we can deal with but the air conditioning did not cool the room down to the point we asked to have the window opened in the middle of the night. Thank goodness we were only staying one night.

We checked into this hotel for 9 nights. The staff has been great! English speaking concierge Sarah was wonderful and had a good answer to every single question. We also took advantage of the quick 24 hour service laundry turnaround. We were traveling with a one year old so when minimal construction was going on in a neighboring room for two days and waking our little one up during naps, we asked to change rooms. Lynn was kind to find us another wonderful room. If i had any changes to make it wo... Read more

The Raffles Hotel is a historical landmark. We were picked up at the airport by the Raffles limousine and upon arrival at the hotel we were greeted kindly by the manager and introduced to hotel staff that showed us to our room while explaining the hotels layout. There was a complimentary fruit plate in the room of fresh mango and strawberries. Our room was spacious with a balcony. Although decor was dated, it was a lovely reminder of days gone by and held its colonial charm. Location is central... Read more

This is the crew layover hotel. It's very conveniently located near bus and train stops. Tianjin square, the forbidden city, all within walking distance. Pearl market us a short bus, train, or can ride. Great prices on imitation clothes and electronics.

Cituated right in the center (actually the closest you can get in a hotel to the Forbidden Palace and Tiananmen Square), the hotel gives you full 5-star comfort at a price below 150 bucks a night. Spacious rooms, great beds, fully equipped bathrooms - everything you would really neeed.

Stayed for 4 nights at the end of a business trip covering many locations in China. Given a free room upgrade on arrival which was a nice surprise and possible to see some of the Forbidden City from the room. Took the option without breakfast as this was much cheaper and proved a sensible selection as early starts and alternative breakfast places made this unnecessary. Did not eat in any of the restaurants so unable to comment. Took a beer in a pleasant bar facility, the price was £5+ which pr... Read more

We stayed 3 nights in this centrally located hotel. Great location to Tiananmen Square and th "walking street" close by. The aircon was hard to negotiate and was difficult to get to a "cooler" tempature so we ended turning it off at night so we could sleep.

We got upgraded to a suite! But apart from that, the room was big for its price. Feel like we were staying in a 5 star hotel at budget price. Toiletries were in cute little wine bottle. Hotel was quiet and not so crowded and rowdy. However, my friends in the other room did suffered from some noise as there was ongoing construction at the road which their room faced. Hotel was within walking distance to Tian'an Men, Forbidden City, Old Beijing and Wangfujing. Very convenient

Literally next to the Tiananmen Square Very beautiful hotel and great location. We chose this hotel due to its proximity to the square. The hotel is very beautiful, the interior deco is very traditional and the staffs are amazing and very helpful. I definitely will recommend this hotel to friends and family who wishes to visit T. Square.

Very good Hotel in the center of Beijing. A few meters away from Tian an Men and the forbidden City. The Rooms are quite vintage but very clean and good isolated. The breakfast buffet is various and very international. The price for it is low.

Our travel agent recommended this five star hotel as an authentic Chinese hotel. The picture from out front looked lovely but upon arrival the only Chinese part was a seperate facade. Checking in we were told we did not have a booking( our travel agent told us he rang them to confirm before we left). Twenty minutes after faxing our paper booking told had upgrade. Was not impressed with room at front of hotel on our desk said, "noise from roadworks up until 9 pm was beyond their control." We also... Read more
