The room is large and clean with bathroom supplies, tea/coffee making, mini bar (they took the supplies out when requested so we could use the fridge) and robes. Bed was king but quite firm. English communication very limited so don't expect help on how to get anywhere. Breakfast has American, Continental and Asian foods. Many restaurants within the hotel including revolving, rooftop restaurant. Room service very limited, expensive and arrived cold (nb will only accept cash). Shopping over the r... Read more

If you're staying in Beijing, avoid this hotel unless you want to spoil your holiday. We are staying here for 3 days currently. The room smells of smoke, the shower doesn't work, there is mildew all around the bathroom and the hotel is grubby. We are here as part of a Virgin Holidays tour and for us it has spoilt the tour. I actually asked Virgin Holidays for alternative accommodation before we set off as I had read other reviews but they declined. It reflects badly on Virgin and is the first pr... Read more

We stayed as part of a tour. It suited our purpose. Reasonable clean- you could smell smoke on our floor despite no smoking in rooms this was obviously ignored. Beware room service. We asked for some milk for coffee which became a dispute at checkout they wanted to charge us 58 yuan for a small jug. Many 'managers' and 30 minutes later it was resolved. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Pool- is an experience in itself - it took a while to navigate the first time - you have to have a cap which can... Read more

..I would have only given 2 stars. The hotel wasn't "bad" but quite rundown and I could smell the cigarette smoke coming into the room via the ventilation unit that seemed to be automatically turned on between 6 AM and 11 PM. Though little bit fusty, the room was otherwise clean and bed comfortable. I did hear from others rating their rooms "excellent" so either they had different taste or there are renovated rooms in the other levels or other side of the hotel building. I was given a room in ... Read more

I stayed 3 nights at the Beijing International Hotel. My experience was a mixed one. On the positive side, the beds are comfortable, and the bath towels were soft. However, the hotel is clearly dated, with old bathrooms where paint is chipping off the bath tubs, showers that are not very comfortable (water flow too powerful and cannot adjust) and thin walls (can hear room neighbors talking over the phone). There is also a lingering smoke smell although the room did appear to be a non-smoking... Read more

Stayed at this hotel early May 2016 at start of tour of China - hotel somewhat dated. Lounge area rather small, and lack of a decent bar area. We we're allocated a room on the 16th floor which afforded very decent views of the city, as did the revolving restaurant at the very top of the hotel. Nice restaurant, excellent food, but very very expensive. £101 for two, two courses + drinks. But when we were charged £25 in the bar/tea lounge for two teas (one green, one black) it puts it into perspe... Read more

We stayed 3 nights was a lovely big hotel with nice rooms.. The staff were not quite so friendly towards us. But the lovely Christmas tree outside covered in snow made up for that. Breakfast wasn't great for fussy eaters, but there is a dare I say it, Mcdonalds across the road. We did have room service and that was fine.

Huge room deposit on arrival. Wasn't happy to pay so they locked the mini bar and disabled the phone - much better option! Language barrier was difficult, which was surprising because they are supposed to be an 'international' hotel. Rung room service requesting two extra towels on the first day and we got two pillows. Tap in the bath dripped badly all night! Won't stay here again.

My husband and I stopped here for 3 nights as part of our Virgin taste of China tour. In this package all hotels are no less than a 4 star. This hotel in my opinion is border line 3 star at best. It was also the worst out of the three we stayed in. The sealant around the bath was black with mould and this wasn't just our room , many couples on our tour had the same. I wouldn't walk barefoot on the room carpet as it looked dirty and so the slippers provided came in handy. The breakfast I found... Read more

Another hotel as part of taste of china tour with virgin. This was by far the worst hotel of the trip, it really is in need of refurbishment. The room was large and mostly ok but the bathroom was very dirty indeed, the bath was disgusting. Room was nice, bed comfortable, tea and coffee making, mini bar and safe. Key card didn't work every day we were there so had to go down and get it fixed each day and we were in a business room, this was annoying when you are tired and just want to get in your room! This hotel was booked for us by a tour company and was in a great central location. Room was dated but ok however the bathroom was not. The surface of the bath had worn away in places and there was black mould on the grout around the bath and patches of rot that had been painted over on the door. Also the shower poured water onto the bath and then flooded the floor. The bathroom was certainly no more than a 2 star! Good quality hotel. We stayed in a business class room on one of the higher floors. Room was excellent, good size and the shower room / bathroom was also of a good size. Food in the hotel was good especially the breakfasts. The staff were all very friendly if you take the time to talk to them. We have stayed from 1991 until 2000 many times at the Beijing International hotel. For sentimental reasons we went back, just to have a coffee at the "four seasons bar" which is located on the first floor. The cappuccino was perfect and came together with a glass of water. Subsequently, on a private visit, I booked a cheaper room through one of the online sites and got a room that was from another era altogether. This great hotel is ideally situated in downtown Beijing and within walking distance of the underground. it has a fabulous buffet breakfast catering for the tastes of most nationalities. Both business people and families will find it a central starting point for their ventures and taxis are generally available just outside the main entrance. Both luxury and Budget dining are available just across the road. Due to masses service impersonal but acceptable.

Centrally located, this hotel is within walking distance of many of the attractions of Beijing. The rooms are comfortable and the food is worth a mention. On the negative side, there is the perennial problem of communicating with the staff as they either do not know English or pretend not to do so. Also, the ATM's located within the hotel premises do occasionally throw up fake yuan notes. So be very careful on this count.

This is one of my rare reviews in which I am giving a place a very bad review. This place used to be good, but recently it appears to have gone downhill. Even the mostly friendly staff have taken a dislike to westerners, which affects me very personally. I think this to be a pricey hotel without breaking the bank. Naturally I would expect a decent room but this is not the case.
