From the moment we arrived to the moment we drove away, we were treated like royalty! Having advised them in advance that we were staying there for a wedding anniversary, we were escorted to our room, where snacks and a decadent dessert were waiting for us, along with 2 complimentary glasses of bubbly. The room was gorgeous, with every amenity you could want. Our room had 2 balconies, one from the living room, and one from the bathroom. The bathroom was huge, all marble, with a soaker tub an... For me, the hallmark of a luxury hotel is that everything becomes effortless when you walk through the door. Shangri-la Vancouver failed the test. The thing that really got me were the in room systems- lights, HVAC and shower- none of the controls were intuitive or straight-forward. If ever a hotel room required a bellman‚??s orientation, this is it. However, no help was offered or given. There is an elaborate lighting system in the ceiling of the room with lamps aimed to light various surf... Read more

This hotel let me down. I booked 3 rooms for a trip to Vancouver to see Paul Simon for the weekend via my corporate travel agent. The day before I left the hotel phoned and told me they couldn't allow me to reserve the 3 rooms at the corporate rate, they could offer the extra 2 rooms at the current rate which was 3 times the cost. It seemed clear to me that the rooms I had booked were requested by someone willing to pay the full rate so I was pushed out. I don't have any issues with the po... Read more

I had one amazing stay in Shangri-La Vancouver. It is a beautifully designed hotel (loved the oriental theme!), with lovely rooms, superbly comfortable bad, sparkly-clean bathroom with L‚??Occitane toiletries and friendly staff. OMG, and the Chi Spa ‚?? is amazing! I just wish I had time to also check out the swimming pool! Okay, let me be a bit critical here‚?¶ The breakfast was not so amazing (there is no buffet, just a la carte option), but I preferred it to, say, the Four Seasons Vancouver... Read more

This is our second time staying at the Shangri-La, Vancouver and it certainly gets better with each visit. As soon as you are in the system, it is like they are telepathically connected to you, and greet you by name where ever you are. We stayed in a small suite with a nice living room area, large bathroom, and an extremely comfortable bed with 3 sets of pillows, each with a different firmness. A very sweet, handwritten note, waited for us along with a small snack try. The pool area is unique in... Read more

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights in late May. We were in a one bedroom suite which was very spacious and well appointed. Very clean, good furnishings, comfortable bed and plenty of space. Not much of a view and compared to other Shangri la properties we've stayed at, the bathroom was not extremely large. The hotel is within walking distance of all the downtown Vancouver malls, dining locations and high end shopping. It's about 15-20 minutes moderate walk from Gastown and Chinatown. The cru... We checked into a suite for our honeymoon for 2 nights and the building next to the hotel was having repairs done. The noise was so loud that it was vibrating the floor of the room. I went down and spoke to front desk staff and they said the hotel was completely full and nothing they could do. 5 min later after returning to my room, I received a call from Sherry (Front Desk Manager). Perfect location. Lovely hotel, staff polite and friendly. Food in the restaurant was delicious. When booking, it's well worth getting your breakfast included in your room rate. We had the executive suite, which was nicely decorated and good sized bathroom. To be honest I thought the bedroom and lounge areas would be slightly bigger, but they were more than adequate. The Shangri la was a vacation in itself. The location was perfect for us, and having access to the Keg, made it easy for a late night eat. With the Shanghai la, it is all about the small details. The bottled water for incoming and outgoing, the polite staff, and high end toiletries. The bed was very very comfortable, the shower was perfect. You do not have to worry about snobbery, everyone was treated with politeness and respect. Can't say enough good things about this place.

We stayed Sunday through Tuesday mid-June 2016 post-cruise. Our group had two rooms - my parents, and my family (two adults plus 8 and 11 y.o.). Check-in was smooth. The front desk held our bags until our rooms were ready as we disembarked early from our cruise and our rooms were not ready at 9am (no big deal). Kids received cute Shangri-la stuffed animals (bear for one and moose for the other). Both rooms received an upgrade upon check-in (kudos to Visa Signature Hotel bookings). My parents ... Read more

All the little things were done well and the french toast at breakfast was delicious. This is a low end Shangri-La among the hotels in the chain. The facilities are bare bone, We had 2 suites, one of them was tiny. For breakfast, we had to wait for half hour to get a table, then wait another half hour to get food. Service in the hotel is mostly indifferent. Room smells.
