We used to stay at the previous incarnation of the Moda when it was the Dufferin. The new management have totally modernised the hotel and provided a different but very pleasant result. The staff are ever so helpful. The new double-glazing windows ensure that the rooms remain quiet of any street noise. For persons new to Vancouver, this hotel is very centrally located and within walking distance of most downtown sites. There are eating facilities but we did not try them.

Hotel adequate , central location , pleasant staff helpful . Arrived early at 11 am giving wifi in reception and complimentary baggage stowage which very helpful while waiting checking .... Room allocated which was disappointed with slopping floors room . Reallocated room with nearly level floors but noise with A/C units outside window ,2 nights was enough with ear plugs and eye mask . Very limited lighting in room I.e no ceiling lights just a table light and bedside .

I have stayed here a few times over the years, small boutique hotel in central location. Nice staff, good restaurant. But it is in serious need of painting, new furniture, some additional amenities would nice. I am going to look for another small hotel in the area for my next trip to B.C.

Usually I've stayed at larger chain hotels, or in nearby Richmond, but this time I wasn't planning the trip and it was with friends so we decided on the Moda. A small boutique hotel, most guests use the stairs to traverse the different floors. Given that the elevator looks like it is 50 years old, I don't blame them. Stayed here with some friends and had an OK stay. The rooms were adequate, the beds comfortable, and bathrooms clean. Everything could use a bit of a facelift though. There is free... Read more

This hotel has a quirky charm, is in a brilliant position for public transport, restaurants, theatres and even a fresh food market just down the street. We arrived very late on a Friday night, which was not a problem, and slept well despite having a room at the front, because of the double glazed windows. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, but did not have a fan in the bathroom, and only provided one small cake of soap and no body wash. The only real... The location and the price for this hotel make the stay enjoyable, a real deal to be so centrally located in downtown Vancouver. After reading the reviews we made sure to ask for a quieter room which helped that we backed into the alley/condo building vs. one of the busier streets (Seymour or Smithe). However, keep in mind that the building is old, so you can hear the people above and beside you and in the morning the water pipes sing from people taking their showers. Rooms are small but do the ... Read more

stayed in this hotel for one night during my travels, was not the greatest hotel i stayed at, rooms are old and dated, need renovations, the location is prime though, close to everything. elevator kept breaking down.

My wife and I stayed there one night. It is a good location if you are attending a show or concert. All venues within a short walk. Nothing fancy, room was clean but very small. Has a nice restaurant and bar attached.

Good location, close to hop on off trolley stops and easy 15 minute walk to waterfront. The room was a good size and had been updated so no complaints there. Elevator was small and old and out of order on one occasion so were happy we were only on 2nd floor. New restaurant attached was good for breakfast. Found staff to be pleasant and happy to answer questions. All in all good 3 day stay

Great location and within walking distance of tons of restaurants and night clubs. The rooms are tiny as is the lobby. The website photos make everything appear much larger. Easy taxi ride from the airport and within walking distance to the cruise terminal although with luggage, we decided to take a cab. The staff is very friendly.

My wife and I stayed at the Moda on June 2 for one night. We were looking for a reasonably priced location close to the Cruise Ship dock at Canada Place and his met the qualifications. No problem with street noise or crowd noise from the Red Card Sports Bar. Close to restaurants and shopping, Hop-On/Hop-Off Bus. Taxi from the airport to the hotel was $40.00 and to the Cruise Ship Port just $14.00 (both prices with tips). Room was small but we used it for sleeping only so it was adequate. F... Read more

This was more a 3 and a half star from me but as that still doesn't exist "average" seems a bit mean. The room was certainly nothing to write home about (maybe not quite as spruce as the official photos would suggest) but we got a bargain price and it had everything we needed. Plus the location between Yale Town (5 mins) and Gastown (15 mins) was excellent. We even walked to Stanley Park one morning when our jet lag meant we were too early for the trolleys. Good sports bar next door and a Starbuc... Read more

Took the train from the airport (CAD8) to Vancouver Central and the hotel was an easy 10minutes walk away. Check in was fast and the staff were accommodating to offer a roll away bed for an additional CAD10. Location wise, the hotel was excellent being only 5 minute walk to both Granville Street and Robson St where you were spoilt for choice when it came to restaurants. There's an IGA supermarket on Robson St that's open late too. The room was a little bit on the small side especially with the ... Read more

I really liked it! Decent price for a great room in a great location. Windows could be fully opened which is hard to find in many places downtown. Old building turned modern and simple. Walked to Canada Place in 15 mins. I would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at the Moda Hotel twice on our recent trip to Canada. The hotel was in a great location for us - close to the central skytrain station, good shops and supermarket. Easy walk to the free Capilano shuttle bus. Tim Hortons and Starbucks just around the corner. Also not far from Gastown. Room was clean and comfortable although not very soundproof. Staff were helpful and got us into a room earlier than the stated check in time which was great and offered bag storage if needed.

Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, Moda offered the best combination of price and location I could find on Trip Advisor. Our four day stay at Moda did not disappoint. Among the little "extras" I did not expect were: 1. Double windows that reduced street noise. 2. $10 credit for breakfast at Ciba restaurant located in the hotel. Breakfasts were exceptionally good, offering a broad range of choices. Great value. 3. Just around the corner from Moda is the Red Card, a lively sports ba... Read more

I stayed here for 2 nights in July. The rooms are ok ?? it's all we needed and was fairly cheap, very clean, so no complaints but it was particularly average. The location is great and a short walk to shops/sky train/water front and restaurants. Our stay here was fine, but we did have an issue. After our first nights stay, we went out for the day (a little late, we were jet lagged) and were greeted by a very friendly cleaner who asked if it was ok to clean our room, which we appreciated. We stayed here before a cruise. They did put us in a room away from the street as requested (no view, just rooftops of neighbouring buildings which is fine by us since we only needed to sleep for the night) but it was on the second floor and right beside the stairs. So noise was still not good esp when uncourteous people run up and down it. Our coffee machine wasn't working and there are not enough powerpoints at all. I had to put the machine in the bathroom, so much for effort since it didn't w... Read more

We arrived by train and the hotel was well located for a couple of different stops. It is an odd looking hotel, with various other businesses on the ground floor and the hotel rooms upstairs. Reception on the ground floor was ok and our room was on the 3rd floor and as already stated the lift was quite old but worked ok. The room was very small and we had no view, the air conditioning was very noisy and I would only class this as average. The location was ok but I would not have wanted to walk... Read more

Moda is a nice, quaint, cozy, and centrally located hotel close to downtown, waterfront, nice restaurants, Sky train, and Robson street. I saw other reviews mentioning noise, we didn't experience much of it on the 4th floor facing the busy street. The room is basic but very clean, it has a mini fridge, Kurig coffee maker, nice bathroom with tub, and good service. Housekeeping ladies were very sweet and attentive, so as front desk staff. I would certainly recommend Moda hotel, it's good value for... Read more

or is it very difficult to love a hotel that doesn't give you breakfast. I have no issues with this, I booked knowing that this wasn't included but it is difficult to warm to a place that doesn't feed you. We arrived very early for check in. Staff dealt with this admirably looking after our bags in a very helpful way. Rooms were bright and large (we did book a suite) but it was really comfortable. Tea and coffee facilities, large bath and great shower. Wifi was dreadful ...real hit and miss af... Read more

We stayed for 3 nights and could have stayed longer. The hotel is ideally situated in Downtown Vancouver. It was a short walk from the Skytrain station which we used for transport from and to the airport. The room we had was not big but enough for the time we were there and bigger than we have had in other city centre hotels. One thing it had which is not common was tea and coffee making facilities. It also had a safe and fridge which we need for my wife's insulin. The only complaint on the roo... Read more

My wife picked the Moda Hotel for a birthday celebration. She reserved a suite so we could spend the night in the downtown core. We liked the location, but the room sucked. Don't rent out the rooms right above the bar and expect us to be happy. It's very loud and ruins all the effort made in making the room look great. Also, why on earth does the bar need to play loud music at 8 in the morning when there are no customers around?!?!? Do the cleaners need to listen to such dribble? If you stay... Read more
