We stayed at this hotel March 19. Sunday morning at 830 NO HOT WATER to shower. I had to check out and go to an event without a shower. The girl at the front desk offered me 15 percent off very quickly which tells me it is not the first time. Very disappointed.

We spent 2 nights on the 18th and 19th of March. Our stay was terrible. I realize it was March Break so the hotel would be quote busy. Friday night consisted of a group of kids playing hockey in the hall until 11pm. On Saturday morning we left our room early for the day, upon arriving back after 2pm our room had not been serviced for the day. At 3 pm I called to c when it would be done and was told the staff were busy but it would b done at some point. We were attending a function at 5pm and hav... Read more

This is an older property which has been renovated some years back. it has been well maintained since then. As with any accommodation the most important thing is the PEOPLE... This hotel has that in spades... Concerned about guest needs, wants and requests. Very good

Hotel is a bit dated but was clean and the staff was very friendly. I will be staying here again. Never ate in restaurant but went it town to eat a couple times. Used the WiFi and that was also good in the lobby

In town for a family funeral, we was pleased to find a knowledgeable desk clerk who offered advice on restaurants, nearby walking trails and parks, and who also provided concise directions to all of those places. The room was clean and had everything that we required. Building is well maintained. Bathroom was small, housing only the bathtub and toilet. Sink and mirror were outside the bathroom door. If you are traveling in a group and have a lot of traffic in and out of your room this layout... Read more

In town for a funeral, Diane was fantastic at taking care of all of needs. She was gracious in letting me use computer & printer in lobby to complete some last minute details. Room was very clean and breakfast was great. Will be back to enjoy more of the parks and trails suggested.

The hotel is clean, the room I had you basically walked into the bathroom when you opened the door, sink on one side and the door for the toilet and bath tub on the other. But the room was an good size. The chair in the room looked really old. The breakfast buffet is ok at best.

Immaculate, well-appointed room and bath, comfortable bed. We arrived late, were greeted promptly and politely. Che ckout was fast. The breakfast was NOT included, but the buffet for $13 was quite good, and one could order a la carte from the menuas well.

clean and comfy for an overnight layover. 45 minutes from the airport. (45 minutes closer to Cape Breton for the next day's drive). Breakfast was included with our rate. Too bad that management had only 1 server to look after a busy dining room on Canada day morning. Poor girl had to bus tables, seat customers, take orders, pour her own drinks, and serve food all by herself. I think her name was Samantha. Everything was predictably slow but she did a great job flying solo. Dining room co... Read more

Not a whole lot to say about this place but it's a newer, clean, perfectly located Holiday Inn. The beds are SO comfortable and the room was nice and quiet. Walking distance to a Superstore and liquor store, as well as any downtown restaurant or pub. This will be important because the in house restaurant is SO expensive. $9 for a Continental breakfast. Also it's a bit pricey to stay - luckily we got a government discount but it was still $120 + tax.

We've got lots of points in the IHG Rewards program, so it made sense to use a free night stay at this hotel. But if I were paying cash money, I might look elsewhere. The hotel is old, rooms are small, and there aren't many frills. The fact that it's a Holiday Inn and not a Holiday Inn Express means you have to pay for breakfast. Personally, I'd look first at staying at the new Hampton Inn in town. All this said, it's a more than decent play to stay the night. City location, not next to th... Read more

We chose Holiday Inn because they had a bunkbed option. I would have like it better if it was a fully closed off portion of the room. This room had an alcove with a sliding door that shut it off, but then there was a giant transom type window opening to the main room, which kind of defeated the purpose of a separate area. Still, it was great for the kids to be separated at least a little. Unfortunately, the room was above the conference center which on our second night was hosting an adult p... Read more

We got a good price through the tourist info office and the room was clean and perfectly adequate for a one night stay. Breakfast was good and a reasonable price. It has a pool which was lovely as we had it to ourselves. Best thing was being able to get to see the tidal bore easily

We have stayed in many Holiday Inns, throughout England and Canada. This was ok, but the room was quite small and was dated in design. The hotel was comfortable and had a pool which was a bonus for us. It is a smallish pool but was suitable for our needs and fairly quiet. Check in was quick and staff were very pleasant. Breakfast was not included and was additional, although as an IHG member we wre given a discounted rate. Breakfast buffet was very good and the lady in the breakfast room w... Read more

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Truro on the way back from a summer vacation in Cape Breton. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The hotel price was a little expensive, but we felt the the total value was acceptable when we included the breakfast offer. Our hotel room was very clean and met our expectations. It was pouring raining when we were loading the car in the morning, so we were glad that the hotels covered entrance kept us dry. Overall, we would definitely stay at the hotel again.

We stayed here one night at a family suit. The room was run down, the linen on one of the bed smell like urine. We ended up using the spare linen for the sofa bed. We came from a tidal bore rafting trip so was desperate to use the guest laundry - one of the reason we chose this hotel as they have guest laundry. But the dryer was out of service. We ended up hunting for a public laundry in town and was too late for it as it was Sunday. There was no free breakfast, most holiday inns we stayed ( and... Read more

Got there much later after check-in time, waited to be served, then I had to change desk because the person serving me was to busy. Then sorry sir no rooms available, you have to wait 20 min more, I may have another. Got a room with 1 queen and 1 sofa but reserved 2. Still waited almost 15 min to confirm, the room was very hot inside. When you call reception, there is nothing more we apologize. When you took the payment then it was fine. Not a Holiday Inn standard service.

My husband travels a lot to Truro for business so this time I decided to tag along since I had never been to Canada before. Location of this hotel is really nice. It's a quick walk to a bunch of different restaurants and stores. The staff were very friendly and we were quickly checked in, even though it was early. the hotel has a strange layout with its 3 or 4 floors but once you get acquainted with the it, its fine. We stayed here one night while visiting Truro. This is a full service Holiday Inn rather than the newer Holiday Inn and Suites which seem to be becoming more prevalent. The hotel was OK but a bit tired. It has a restaurant but the buffet breakfast we paid for was pretty uninspiring and made us glad we went elsewhere for dinner. The location is good and is only a few minutes walk to "downtown". Parking was fine. We are not sure what other options there are in Truro but this hotel would do t... Read more

Nice hotel with a pleasant ambiance. Stayed for two nights this week with a business meeting in the Maple room. Found the room to be comfortable with nice furnishings, very clean. The bathroom was split with the sink and vanity outside and the toilet, tub and shower inside a very small room. The shower was hot and strong. The lights were a bit dull at the vanity and the a/c was in a delegate switch to the heat so you had to get up to change it. Once I figured it out it was ok but it took a few t... Read more

The room was quite nice, with firm bed, soft pillows, and strong Wi-Fi. I've only 2 small quibbles from my stay. Anyone who is over 5 foot 10 inches should be prepared to bend their knees in the shower, as the shower head is rather low. And the a la carte pancakes for breakfast, while tasty, we're small for the price. I did appreciate coffee being served by the carafe, although larger teapots for tea drinkers might be a good idea. This is a nice hotel with an excellent restaurant for breakfast. The staff are really helpful and check in was good, although the key entry door system needed to be recharged a few times then finally they gave us another room. All in a days work...the maintenance guy was so nice and accommodating. He realized that the key would not work in the locking mechanism and called down for another room assignment. This place needs a total refresh and a lot of instruction in hospitality for the staff. Checked in on Friday night and when we checked in, were told the dining room was open until 10. Went to dining room at 8:55 and were sent to the bar because it was closing.
