Spent 13 days in July at this relatively new hotel in Milton from the 9th to the 22nd of July. From the initial call placed to their front desk and received by their staff member Moudy, I knew I was in for a special welcome. Checked on line with Trip Advisor for my flight (West Jet), my Hotel (Home2) and car for pricing and a month in advance of my trip. Got a very good price for all three but am and always will be reluctant to give a credit card on line. 65 and not quite there with the trust...
65 and not quite there with the trust thing just yet. Called West Jet first with the pricing, gave them my card online and got the price give, no problem. Called Home2 in person got the price quoted (after an explanation re the on line worries) no problem. From my first call, explaining my hesitancy, their rep Moudy was totally receptive, understanding. No worries here at all. Gave me a complete description of the amenities, the reception I would receive, the works. Was excited, elated. Gave him my credit card over the phone. On arrival, ran into a bit a of kerfuffle in that the front desk clerk at the time Jeramy wanted to run my credit card through for an authorization of the full 13 day stay at $105 plus a further $200 a night for "amenities". A bit excessive, a bit much. Was taken aback a bit. New hotel, has only been around for a short time...what if after say a few day's stay I wasn't happy nor impressed with it? Asked exactly what the $200 charge for "amenities" was all about..they do not have room service, nor a restaurant or bar...or gift shop....was told it was to cover "damages." Thought to myself...well I don't plan on throwing any parties or TV's out of the windows...I'm 65 like c'mon??? After much ado, calling a "supervisor" they agreed to only authorize for the 13 day stay at $1500. I agreed but felt a little wary. Beautiful hotel. Well appointed rooms. Full new appliances in room, full refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, full set of new dishes, cutlery, necessities for in room meals to be prepared. Perfect in view of the missing restaurant, or room service. Wonderfully comfortable queen sized bed, pillows, perfect linen. Exceptionally hot in TO that visit, the room was at 75 on arrival and a bit close air wise. We turned the AC on to 65 yet after 8 hours the room was still incredibly hot and close. Asked the front desk to look into which they immediately did. Within the hour a fellow came up, made some diagnostics, determined the A/C was indeed broken and while I waited had a completely new unit installed within the hour. Within a few hours the room was at a comfortable 68 degrees. I was pleased, relieved. They have an early morning "continental breakfast" from 6-9:30. Cereals, toast, coffee, hard boiled eggs, sweets, fruit. Sad to say due to the busy and late night schedule of visiting for the most part except of 2 days missed the breakfast altogether Would recommend for long term travellers staying (not overnight catch a flight the next day) it should be extended at least to 11. No worries, I did a shopping at the local Metro and was able to do breakfast and coffee in my suit and on the patio, no worries. They have a beautiful indoor, saline pool, weight room. Outdoor patios on 3 sides of the hotel boast lovely outdoor furniture, gas fire pits and BBQ's should you want to invite guests over to see you and stay for dinner. Very amenable, very welcoming aspect here if your visiting. Also, a pet welcoming and friendly hotel, complete with outdoor pets stations. Very impressed with and loved this aspect of it. Make me miss my two dogs but thought, "I might bring them next time." Never heard a bark or noise the entire 13 days and there were plenty of pets staying during my visit. They do carry a small array of microwavable meals (Stouffer's etc). $8 a piece (a bit pricy) on the off chance you may want a late night snack. The front desk is quite busy...and not always adequately staffed for the comings and goings...these are all growing pains and learning curves. Have to absolutely say...if you call the hotel directly, ask if possible to speak with Moudy, their front desk clerk and hope that he's on duty. Got to tell you, this kid did everything in his power to really bring a light and laughter to the customer's stay. He's an absolute "of course we can" type, who will go to of his way and gladly so to make your experience memorable. He is someone who is completely in his element of dealing with travellers, the public and delights in what he does for you. He made my 13 days just an awesome experience. One doesn't always come across someone like that. I did and you as a perspective visitor to this hotel in Milton should know. Few and far between from a customer service perspective. Out of 10 this kid gets a15:) Hoping to revisit again in September of this year, this time for 3 weeks. This hotel has it all (except for the restaurant, room service)...it has everything a family or couple could want for a well appointed stay. Close to amenities, the highway for travel. Would recommend highly. I loved it all around.
