This hotel was on our list as it was very close to Front Street, and the downtown. On the drive up I was skeptical as there was a group jack hammering in the driveway. Entering the hotel I could see it was dirty. When we got to our room it was dirty, and the sofa looked like it was picked up from the dump. I touched the headboard and it fell off the wall to the floor. We changed rooms, no better! So we left for another hotel. I have stayed at other Holiday Inn Expresses and was very pleased. Thi... This place is all about expectations. What I really wanted for this trip was a cheap place to sleep and have breakfast near the Sony Center & subway. This hotel delivered that perfectly. It's a no frills, basic hotel. That suited me just fine. Price is great for downtown. Free breakfast buffet included, although its in a small area for the size of the hotel so it can get cramped. Staff were always friendly and helpful every time I interacted with them, even the time our key cards somehow got wi... Read more

We stayed for three nights at the end of our anniversary trip. The location is excellent. It's about a 15 walk to the Eaton Centre and Nathan Phillips square but the area is very quiet. Our room was spacious and clean but tired looking. It's the public areas that need attention the most and I understand there are renovations in the pipeline but they really are looking run down. We spent our first 2 nights in Toronto at this hotel. The hotel is a bit tired and could do with an update but we really enjoyed our stay. Ravanish? The gentleman on the front desk was exceptional and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was very busy and was more than sufficient. We ground the location to be within easy walking distance of restaurants and attractions. Car park on sight .

I was really doubting if this hotel was a good choice. After four nights we ended up satisfied, with no need to complain. Well, the breakfast area could be crowded enough in the "rush hour", but when the food choice is much more than expected - you can do a bit queuing. We like HIEs and so this was an obvious choice for our two night stay in Toronto. On the plus side, the price compared favourably with the other places we stayed and the breakfast was good. However, while I understand that the hotel is going to be refurbished, things could be done to make it more attractive in the meantime, such as cleaning the windows and replacing the dead plants outside with some colourful ones. I don't expect luxury when booking a Holiday Inn Express; however, I do expect cleanliness. Carpet in room is worn and brown with dirt, especially the edges. Long dark hair in bathroom sink. Parking is very unorganized. While the location is perfect to many attractions, the rooms are lacking and small. Halls are dated and worn. The breakfast wasn't bad...fresh fruit, bacon and scrambled eggs. Typical. If the price was a little lower I would go back.

This appears to be an older hotel but was clean and well staffed. The staff was very knowledgeable about the area and was able to give me great directions to find my way around. It would have been nice to have a refrigerator in the room. They put out a great spread for breakfast. I walked to the Rogers Center and back after a baseball game at 10:00 and felt very safe.

The location couldn't be better! It was an easy walk to everything we had planned to visit. The staff were all very nice. Our room was a little dated and could definitely use some updating but I like the free wifi. The included breakfast was just ok but had enough choices for everyone.

We came to Toronto to watch the Jays vs Red Sox series September 8 - 12th and had a great stay at the Holiday Inn Express. The location is excellent, and an easy walk to the Rogers Center. Close to lots of great restaurants and bars, and a nice little park right outside as well. The Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was an added bonus, pretty much anything you want to have - it's there! Sure maybe the rooms are dated - but if you are wanting a 5 star in downtown TO - by... Read more

Unfortunately despite very friendly staff and a central location this hotel is badly dated. The carpets are old, tattered and stained. The rooms have not been renovated and have plenty of wear and tear.

Good location, staff very helpful, good choices for self service breakfast, room and hotel clean. BUT it needs a major refurbishment - repaint, new furniture, safes in each room, new carpet and redesigned reception. This used to be a Comfort Inn and nothing much has changed decoratively. Not up to the usual standard of a Holiday Inn Express

Just returned home to England after 8 days at this Hotel. As a regular user of HEX, I was a little disturbed by the adverse reports on this site. However we suffered NON of the problems listed. Very welcoming reception, tried to print boarding cards off on computer in reception. It was not working , no hesitation by staff to print off for me using their computer. Room (1514) was quiet. We used the lift (Sorry Elevator !!) A lot as you can imagine on that floor during an 8 day stay. Not once di... Read more

After travelling across Canada with my wife we thought we would continue the Holiday Inn hotels as they have all been good so far.. We arrived at check in to wait close to half an hour to get the room keys, after a long flight not ideal but hey. Arrived to the room in which the carpet was very dirty & needs to be cleaned. The next day I noticed the A/C unit looked slightly open & the carpet was soaked around the bed. It can't have been the first time as the wallpaper is falling off the walls due... Read more

This hotel reminds me of the third rate Boarding Houses I stayed in as a penniless teenager. The carpets are worn , dirty , and threadbare. The paintwork is chipped and faded. The front door surrounds have broken concrete borders around a poorly tended excuse for a garden. The lifts have damaged wooden panels and the hallways are dimly lit and smell musty. It is obvious not a cent has been spent on maintenance for years. The Intercontinental Hotels Group should be ashamed to include this hotel ... Read more

When you have been through to Holiday Inn's before, you kind of expect a certain standard. This one is excellent in terms of location and service. But everything else is mediocre. Rooms and hallway carpets look old. The walls must be thin because I could make out the conversations from the other room. Breakfast is a plus, but don't have high expectations from it. Have been to Holiday Inn's in the UK and Australia, and they were far better. If there is nothing else, I have no problem staying here... Read more

The location and lower price of this hotel is why I ultimately selected it for a recent trip to Toronto. It's old; the rooms are beginning to show age; and the staff was so/so (housekeeping didn't get to our room until well after 2:00pm). They did print my Hockey tickets at the front counter, but were just ok overall. The morning breakfast was done, too crowded though. At this price point, and location it's a good choice (don't spend much time in the hotel anyway) but it's not anything special.

I am surprised by the quality of the hotel. For $313/night, I would expect an updated cleaner room and hotel. Sofa in my room is filthy. The bath rooms are clean but very worsen. The front desk seems nice. I am concerned that I may have been billed twice. We shall see in the morning

We were very pleased with this hotel when we stayed here recently. Our room was a good size and clean. I particularly liked the full range of cable TV channels available. It is located a couple of blocks from the centre of the city but once you orientate yourself you'll have no difficulty finding your way back each night. Free breakfast doesn't hurt either and is fast becoming a rarity in hotels these days. I would definitely come back here.

It starts with a very slow and antiquated check in process and as you walk to the lift you get your first indication of how grubby this place is. The carpet outside the lift on the floor of our bedroom was BLACK with trodden in filth and dirt. The room was clean but was it well used! Windows were steel sliders form the 60's or 70's and did not keep out the noise from outside - mainly traffic. The hotel is not all that fancy, but the rates are reasonable and the rooms are quite comfortable. Very quiet, too, for a downtown Toronto hotel. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and fresh, and the real task is avoiding eating too much. Very good coffee, too. Free newspapers, and everything is kept clean and tidy. Most important, to a person every staff member with whom I interacted were professional and sincerely friendly. A good, relatively inexpensive hotel for downtown T.O.

The hotel is located on the outskirts of downtown, so it's not an overly busy area, but it's a few blocks from downtown, making it easily accessible. You're also less than a 2-min drive from the QEW with extremely easy-on and easy-off. I was actually very surprised with how easy it was. - Parking - IF you have a small car, it's a br... Read more

In the heart of downtown Toronto, close to Chinatown and other areas of interest, this hotel offers great location, but little else.
