As other people have said, the staff here are excellent. We only stayed here for one night, but all the front desk staff, and the waitress we had at breakfast were amazing. There was nothing terribly wrong with my room, but it did seem like it had been 1-2 weeks since it had last been dusted. Due to this hotels smaller size and position, I think all rooms have a water view.

Located on the Sydney waterfront this is a great hotel; it is bright, clean and welcoming. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. Breakfast is a great value in the restaurant overlooking Sydney Harbour. Dinner at the on-site pub is great and economical. After your day one can take a leisurely or brisk walk along the boardwalk.

Travelling with my wife, stopped here for a night. Nice clean room, beautiful view of the harbour! Enjoyed a walk on the boardwalk, a couple drinks and appys in the lounge listening to live music, and a big bonus is the restaurant looking out across the water for the hot complimentary breakfast! Staff in restaurant, lounge, and desk very friendly, great service!

I stayed here when it was the Delta and came back last weekend after it had been re-done as the Holiday Inn. I really enjoyed the decor and the front desk staff were very nice. The hotel has amazing views and it is nice to walk on the boardwalk. Unfortunately the rooms are dated. The heating/air conditioning system needs to be re-done. It was only 13 degrees but the room was hot and it was so difficult to get it to a comfortable temperature - turn the cold on and then it was freezing. Also the b... Read more

We were greeted by very friendly and informative front desk staff for our two night stay at this hotel. Our room overlooked the waterfront/cruise ship port, including the big fiddle. The room was quite large, with excellent beds. It was clean with lots of plugs for charging our various devices. We ate in the restaurant for breakfast and service was friendly and quick, and the food was great! A little on the pricy side, but worth the convenience. Yes, I would stay here again.

To be fair, I stayed during the East Coast Music Awards week, but the doors are nowhere near soundproof. I tried to have a nap when I first checked in but had to switch rooms as when people walked by it sounded like they were in my room. The hotel handled the switch nicely. The bathrooms are very simple without any frills and while clean, could use some updating as some are in need of repair. Sydney is a small town with few accommodation options. This hotel near the Port is a good option, even if dated. Room is standard, but with comfortable bed. Only criticism is filthy hallway carpet on my floor and room door needs better soundproofing. Hotel has great breakfast + resto/pub if prefer not to go out. Also has wifi, swimming pool and gym. Hotel has outdoor parking.

This hotel has good things, like the sleep quality and the location. However, it needs some updating. The carpets are showing their age. It is clean, but it just looks and feels cheap. The staff is average. Some friendly, some not so much. Because of the limited number of hotels in the area, I would stay here again, but if something new opened up, I would give that a try.

We visited this hotel just after a trip from the Fortress in Louisbourg, which is about an hour away. The hotel is located right on the waterfront just a block away from the cruise ship terminal. The hotel looks fairly new and there were really no maintenance issues. We upgraded to a waterfront room, which had a great view, but unfortunately it also had a two foot "porthole" window with no curtin or shade. The sun streamed in at sunrise making it difficult to sleep. The staff was nice, the parki... Read more

Love staying here. Kids eat for free and the rooms/pool are always super clean! We enjoyed our stay very much. We had a wonderful dinner - calamari, mussels and steak: were all to die for! So delicious. The only thing which was unpleasant was our breakfast. My daughter's pancakes were under cooked and my eggs Benedict were over cooked and the ham tasted old. Will return just order something different for breakfast.

When we checked in we were greeted with a sunny smile and a cheerful attitude. All the staff at the front desk and in the restaurant were outstanding. They made us feel very welcome - like we were staying with friends. The whole hotel has a clean fresh look to it. The room was very clean, the view was beautiful, and the wifi worked perfectly. Right in front of the hotel there's a waterfront walkway which is great for a run or a walk. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Sydney.

Best value for the price. The view is beautiful. The staff are all great but I specially liked Phillipa. She gets my vote for the best front desk person in our whole trip. Only 4 rating because our initial room had a problem but it was quickly resolved without making me feel like I did something wrong (unlike a few other places we stayed at) This was our favourite hotel from our entire vacation.

Ok, let's suppose that you have tickets for the North Sydney ferry to Newfoundland, and you arrive in North Sydney a little early. You probably think you will drive around, enjoy the town, shop for souvenirs, have a nice long dinner, and then catch the ferry. Well, you might be laboring under a misapprehension that there is something to do/see/eat in North Sydney. I sure there are parts that are lovely, but the harbor side is barren, the mall is dying, the "restaurants" have jacked up their... Read more

The hotel was fine but reception staff were not too welcoming. On the other hand the restauarant staff were friendly. Disappointing that they still have credit card receipts to sign and are not electronic. Still waiting for my bill to show up, which is good, but the £ has dropped a lot since then. Parking lot is too small, front desk girl (Ph) talks way too quickly to understand, beds are too hard, hotel is too busy and noisy and A/C is either ice or off. I asked for a room far from an elevator only to be given one directly across from one. Then after requesting another, it was 3 doors down. The room had no fridge. Nice thing is the room had a couple of chairs to sit in and when I complained, they gave me extra points, which was suitable.

We were in town for business and stayed at the Holiday Inn. Check in was quick and easy. Our room was just what we had asked for. Room was clean and bed was comfortable . The hotel does have a restaurant for breakfast and cook to order was hot and good. They also have a Pub in the hotel which is a nice spot to drop in for a drink and pub fare food. The cheeseburger is bang on. Probably one of the best I have ever had. Hotel is central to the business core and close to shopping. Check out was ea... Read more

The room was very clean. Loved the view of the harbor! Loved the pool.....even thought the waterslide is closed every Monday! Whirlpool was nice too. The very best things was the breakfast included with the room---bacon, waffles with fruit, sausage, eggs, oatmeal etc. wow the best ever! The man on the front desk was very nice and fast! I didn't have enough towels and they brought them right up. Would definitely stay again!!!

It's a basic Holiday Inn hotel where you get what you expect. My room (a King bed) was fully equipped (fridge and Keurig), roomy and comfortable. The gym was ok, with 3 treadmills and one tv for all. Free breakfast with a basic buffet and decent menu to choose from if you wanted. The staff was friendly enough, didn't really make an impression one way or the other. For Sydney hotels, this is just fine.

Loved our room, loved the quietness and loved the view. We stayed a week in this hotel. We enjoyed our visit to the Crown Pub, which is part of the hotel. The location was awesome and loved that it was within walking distance for shops, restaurants etc. Parking was no problem. We always managed to find a great spot even though the hotel was busy. It was fun watching the cruise ships come and go from the comfort of our room. Would highly recommend this hotel. It is also on the boardwalk... Read more

We use Holiday Inn Express hotels regularly so, when we needed a room in Cape Breton on short notice, this Sydney Holiday Inn was a logical choice. We reserved a room with a view and I was disappointed to find that the front desk staff scratched out an appropriate room reservation and wrote in a less satisfactory one. The state of the room was concerning, with many stains on furniture upholstery and on the carpet. We found leftover food on our bedside table. The hotel restaurant was not open... Read more

I walked into the spacious room and was delighted to see the large room with all that was needed AND I was lucky enough to have a harbor view! After a long journey it was great to be in a comfortable bed in lovely surroundings. The common areas are bright and the staff helpful. We bought breakfast vouchers and went for the buffet which was a little disappointing as hot food was cold and the "scrambled eggs" were terrible in looks and texture. Thank goodness you can order fried or poached egg... Read more

Great hotel on the waterfront. We paid extra for a full water view and it was worth it. The hotel is close to everything downtown. Watch the cruise ships come in from your room. We ate at both the pub and the restaurant and the food was great.

I had a 6 hour drive from Halifax to Sydney, when I arrived at the hotel my room was waiting for me, with a wonderful view of the harbour. The room was very clean, the bed was very comfortable, everything was clean, it had a fridge I would like to have a microwave in the room, the hotel has a pool and an exercise room. Front desk staff were very helpful, the hotel was in a good location close to many different eating establishments. I plan on going back in the summer.
