We stayed at the Sheraton for my little girls dance competition last month. The Front Desk Staff were friendly, helpful and always on hand (PRO) Housekeeping lacked and the Rooms and Hallways showed it ... We placed Pizza boxes on top of the garbage can and it was left, glasses were not cleaned, Coffee was not refilled and one day our makeover was still not done at 5:30pm. There were crushed potato chips beside the night stand that I noticed when plugging in my phone charger the first night a... Read more

We stayed at the Sheraton for 3 nights. Our room had a view over the city, we could see The Rooms and the Basilicca. We had breakfast each morning in the restaurant. The server was excellent, and the food was good. Omelette in particular was tasty and for those from away -- try the toutons. The room was traditional hotel - two double beds. Washroom was a bit dated, but, clean and lots of hot water. Good comfortable chair in the room, plus desk. The one downside was the lack of power in th... Read more

The location/view and the effort by the staff, specifically Gary the concierge, to make our stay enjoyable, were the only two things to recommend this hotel. Our room was tired, the carpet stained, there were no robes, no slippers, no fridge, nor safe in the room. I can not understand why this would garner a 4 star rating.

The building was nice. The atrium was beautiful. There was a gym and small pool and a restaurant. We didn't use any of those things, but they looked nice enough. First, let me say, we had been traveling for over 17 hours, and we were just looking forward to a comfortable room when we were ready to sleep. That's why we paid some extra money for a room even though we were only going to be in the room for the later part of the night and a few hours in the morning. We didn't arrive to the hotel unt... Stayed at the hotel over Easter weekend preparing a move to the city. Our room had a view of the harbour. Easy walk through downtown. Medium walk (up and down hill) to a major grocery store. The hotel has an indoor tree-filled atrium which stretches down to the pool/hot tub/fitness area, which were comfortable, if not big. Has squash courts which look out-of-service. Staff was great. Did not eat at the hotel restaurant.

We stayed for a convention over four days. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Everything I heard about the staff and their assistance with respect to the convention was A+. The food was also excellent with an emphasis on local fare. It is also centrally located and close to both Water and George streets.

Our conference was held in the hotel so although it wasn't the cheapest option it was the most convenient. Situated between downtown, the harbour, and Signal Hill, it was within walking distance and convenient to all. I arrived at 2am with no dramas and had a quiet room, although no views to speak of.

Newfoundland is an exquisite place to visit. My wife and I enjoyed our time on the island, but out time in St. John's was just that much better due to our stay at the Sheraton. We took the ferry from North Sydney, Nova Scotia to Argentia, Newfoundland and had a wonderful evening. Unfortunately my wife woke up rather sick in the middle of the night, which put a mild damper on things. We landed at 8:00 a.m. at Argentia, and took off by car for St. John's. We recently spend several nights at this hotel. For the price and Sheraton name. I would have expected more. It's not that the place was bad - there are plenty of positive features. Staff are friendly and helpful. The WiFi is free and good. The views of the harbour are magnificent. Our room was comfortable but smallish. The location is great. I attended a conference here and everything was well done--the staff was very courteous. One day, they forgot water for the tables but it was fixed the next day. There is free bottled water in the rooms. I could use more than 2 bottles though but it's better than most hotels that charge you $5/ bottle. (Hey Sheraton don't get any ideas. I always stay at the Sheraton when I am in St. John's on business. As a lifetime SGP Gold Member, my expectations for Sheratons is high. This location has all of the typical things that I have come to expect of Sheratons - comfortable beds, nice showers, friendly service etc. I love this particular hotel because it has a great view of the St John's Harbour. Stayed here for three nights. St Johns is a bit "out of the way", but the hotel certainly is not. It matches any Sheraton I've been to before. I had a large room with a fantastic view over the harbour (only to find out later it was one of the smaller rooms). Staff are friendly and inviting. The hotel was clean, although a little dated. First time I stayed at this property in St. John's. The room was clean, housekeeping was efficient, and the room was large and comfortable. The staff was helpful and the location, minutes from Water & Duckworth Streets could not be better, Ask for a room with a view of the water. The concierge floor breakfast, even for free, was very poor. For the rate they charge, they should do much better.

Stayed at the Sheraton during our National Convention in June. Rooms were clean and well appointed, outstanding staff (housekeeping, front desk, restaurant / bar etc.). Perfect location and within walking distance to downtown's many bars, pubs, restaurants and shopping. I didn't use pool or fitness room but both looked cleaned and well maintained. Needed a key card to use the elevator which at times was somewhat inconvenient but it was a minor thing. Other than that, great stay.

Another good stay at the Sheraton. Not the prettiest hotel facade but the hotel inside is well laid out and spacious. Across the road from the Governors Generals residence and only a short walk to downtown (everything is close in St John's). Hot tip - have breakfast across the road in 'Coffee matters.' Much better than hotel breakfast at a fraction of the price - better coffee too. Disappointing service in the downstairs bar. Overall hotel was clean and tidy. Good view from harbour front rooms.

Have stayed here a few times now. Love the view, service overall is lacking. Food and drink menu is okay but not in keeping with Sheraton properties. There's no doubt that you can't beat the view with a waterside room as looking out at Signal Hill, the gap and harbour is beautiful. The location is good, but downtown St. John's is small enough that hotel location need not be your primary motivation. Breakfast was included and snacks at 5:00pm in the Club room. Snacks were hot, with vegetables, cold cuts, crackers, cheese, fruit and desert. You could go any time and get water (Perrier) Juice or Pop. Service was excellent and were given extra towels, toiletries and newspapers. A wonderful stay.

We spent the last week at this hotel and were disappointed from the minute we arrived. We are frequent Sheraton guests - with stays throughout the US and Canada. We have come to expect a certain level of service and a certain quality. I think it's safe to say that only the minimum standards were met here. Check-in: We arrived after a long travel day and walked up to the desk. No one else ahead of us....should be speedy, right? But no, we weren't greeted or welcomed. Instead, the one clerk ig... Though I live in St. John's this is the first time I have stayed at "The Hotel." We decided to do a weekend escape downtown and the Sheraton, given its location (perfect for exploring) and its amenities (having an Executive Floor -- these rooms are larger than those on non-Executive floors) was an obvious choice. The Hotel had been built when it was a Fairmont, and there are still signs of those days. But Sheraton has compromised some of the finer touches and details and the hotel is less uniqu... Read more

This hotel is a nice place on the waterfront, and close to shops and restaurants. Room service offered a great Portobello sandwich. HOWEVER, this hotel is understaffed. The front desk only had one person on Labor Day weekend at afternoon and morning check in and out times. At 7am the pool area was still a mess from the night before. Our room was missing water and coffee cups. Then we discovered someone else's towel was still hanging on the back of the bathroom door! Not what we expect from a She... Read more

Overpriced for what you get in our opinion. Stayed in the deluxe king suite, waterfront room on 7th floor... nice view. Was not able to get a mini fridge though which was very inconvenient as we had a baby requiring milk. Room was nothing special and had a stucco ceiling which is a bit old-fashioned. Understaffed as well with only one person on the desk on labour day weekend. Pool was nice. You have to pay for parking (15$) but there was plenty of free meters close by

We got a deluxe suite with a view and it was spectacular. The room was very nice but it was a bit small, the beds were only doubles and everything was a bit tight. Great location, free easy parking, nice little bar with classic high-end service. Get the king size room if you can, much better.

The hotel is located a bit up hill from the harbor at the eastern end so you have a nice view of the harbor and the sunrise if your room faces that way. It is a bit of a walk to the harbor edge and uphill on the way back so location is not the best. Rooms are average for a Sheraton but nothing special. Breakfast is very average (buffet plus usual venue options). The hotel has all of the services you would need for a business meeting. Bedding was great so I slept well.

The room was dirty, the carpets in the room and the common areas were filthy, there was no water or pen in the room. Instead of leaving regular coffee, they left decaf. One of the bed sheets was stained. I left a message with the General Manager, Trevor Morgan to discuss the issues and he had one of his staff call me back. She apologized and assured me that these issues would be rectified (I was staying multiple nights) and offered me 1,000 SPG points as compensation, which I never received. A w... Read more

I travel a tonne and I have never encountered this. I am heading to St Johns for work for 2 weeks with my team I needed a room and was told by the front desk clerk that he is working by himself and wondered if I could call back. It's 0100 in the morning there so I am unsure how busy they could be. I guess I will be missing out on 2 weeks of my SPG points..... Very disappointed but not surprised after reading the reviews from this month.

Stayed here labour day long weekend to attend a friends wedding. Not only does it provide a beautiful venue for the ceremony in the atrium, needing very little in the way of decorations, but the Sheraton was also an excellent base for exploration of the city and surroundings. The staff were always eager to help with any sort of inquiry, and really made our stay warm and comfortable. The Sheraton has a prime location and is within walking distance of all the major restaurants, pubs and sites. It is a 20-minute walk to The Rooms and one of the major craft shops is right across the street. Our room was modern, well-decorated, clean, quiet with an excellent bathroom. It was completely quiet at night. The hotel has several elevators and the lobby, pool area and other amenities are beautiful. It was always very busy. All staff members were friendly and helpful. The Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland is definitely in the best location of any major hotel in downtown St. John's. We had a spectacular view of the harbour and Signal Hill, and a spacious and nicely appointed room. Some minor issues: no pen or paper, no bathroom fan, so the mirror fogs up, only one comfortable chair and one suitcase stand, and a noisy, old-fashioned "window" type AC unit. A more significant issue was the bed. It was at one time a good one, but has reached old age. It squeaked a... Read more

This is your standard Sheraton hotel. The staff was friendly and the room was clean. They have a nice pool and hot tub that we used while there. We had breakfast in the hotel one day and it was a typical hotel breakfast buffet. The staff was friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. We enjoyed the sunrise view of the Narrows and the light house and the ships in port. The room was cleaned and made up first thing everyday, so it was always fresh and relaxing. The areas for smokers were bright and clean, unlike many places that still take smokers money for rooms and send you to back alley to smoke. Stepping out the front door can be windy - hang on to your hat!

We only had three days to visit St. John's and wanted a centrally located hotel. The Sheraton fit the bill. The room was very clean and updated. Great view of harbour. Our meals two of the nights one in the bar and the other in the restaurant were both very good. Top notch service. The staff many of whom have been there for many years were very friendly and efficient. We will be back.

We stayed at the hotel in late September. The rooms are very good, Views are excellent. The one great asset this hotel is the pleasant and helpful staff -bar, restaurant, chamber maids and junior management. However one area led us to complain bitterly. We checked in early, and they didn't have any problems with that. We had a harbor facing room, with a king bed. They brought in a cot as well. The room was huge. but the bathroom was tiny. There is no mini fridge in the room, but we asked for one, and they brought it in. We did not eat at the restaurants in the hotel, so can't comment on them. There is also a fee for parking. The hotel is in a great location to downtown. Can walk downtown from it.
