We stayed here in mid-August. Upon arrival, my room had clearly not been attended to- everything was removed but nothing was set up again- no sheets, pillow cases, not even a shower curtain! After driving for 8 hours with 2 kids, I just wanted to get to my room and go to sleep. It doesn't end there! At 11:30pm the fire alarm stars ringing. I had to drag my 2 children out of bed and down 3 flights of stairs, and sit outside. The firefighters arrive, check the place out, turn the alarms off, and... Read more

Although a dorm style room with 2 bedrooms and a common kitchen area. It was large and clean and no smells or decay as seen in many other hotels. The staff are friendly, free parking, coffee in the morning and wifi. What else could you want for the price. I would definitely stay here again. Keep in mind that it is tucked in behind another building at the St. Paul's university so you have a little bit of a hard time finding it but once you do, it is great.

First time staying in a residence for work. Loved it. Private bedrooms allowed me to get away and watch what I wanted to even when sharing accommodations. Beds were twin size so you can't spread but comfortable non the less. Full size fridge and a table to eat dinner at was nice. This isn't a typical hotel per se but was good for some working guys and the price was right.

Room was a good deal for the price, lots of room and clean. Also nice to have a fridge and microwave. The downside was parking - there aren't any signs to show you where you can park while you check in, I parked in the lot across from the entrance, checked in, took my bags to my room. I went right back to my vehicle to move it to the assigned lot (which is a hike from the front door) to find a $55.00 parking ticket. Suddenly, this room wasn't a good deal anymore! It is ridiculous not having some... Read more

Cold room and you can't turn off the fan or change temperature as it is locked The wifi doesn't work and front desk asked you to bring down all your devices to set them up. There were a huge line up for wifi setup at front desk. It is 2016, if you can't setup wifi property and let your guests connect it by themselves. Try doing some other business. I get better wifi service at mama & papa's B&B!

It's a college residence, making use of the off-season. The staff is young; perhaps they are hospitality students. It's nice to think that your accommodation dollar goes to support the school, instead of some cadre of rich folks somewhere else in the world. But the facilities are mediocre. Low grade appointments work OK. Hot water ran out. Very long walk from elevator to furthest reaches of building, where my room was. Needs a paint job. Bed and pillow are a little tired. Small picture tube ... Read more

The rooms were a bit of a walk from the front lobby, but were spacious compared to a hotel room (2 bedrooms with a shared bathroom and mini-kitchen). Not a luxury accommodation, but worked well for our large group of students. Wifi was tricky to get, but once logged in, worked well enough. Little store with snacks and drinks in the lobby, and a mall behind the facilities. The biggest disappointment was the breakfast we were served - the hashbrowns and sausage were good, the eggs and coffee were... Read more

We stopped by before booking and were offline. We were shocked to learn the rate was so much higher in the lobby! The staff is comprised of young coed and all are very helpful and considerate BUT there are seasons when Neither HEAT OR A/C are available. This old centralized (Soviet-style) heating system may be okay with college youngsters but for elders it is painful if the weather turns cold in June and the nights of Ottawa can be clear and nordic. Yes, it is clean. Central to Ottawa? N... Read more

These dorms are perfect for student life but not for visiting family or business travel at all. There is nothing interesting around here except a shopping mall and everything else is pretty far away which will end up costing you traveling fees. Rooms and service are pretty cheap even the bed sheets are cheap and thin. Adding to that is not even a flat screen TV it has those old tube TVs.

Stayed 1 night. This is not an operating hotel but a student residence. Will sleep 2 comfortably but more will be a tight fit. For the price this place was great. Check in was quick and the room was clean and quite. Free parking. Lots of amenities steps away.

Their description is accurate - you get exactly what they describe. If the very comfortable beds are meant for two, they better know each other biblically. Wi-Fi is unreliable. Service is average at best. Laundry is a pretty easy setup though.

My teenaged son wanted to visit Calypso Water Park in Ottawa and see the sound and light show on Parliament Hill. We were on a tight budget so we picked the Algonquin College Residence for accommodations. It was perfect. 2 bedrooms gave mother and son comfort and privacy. The staff was excellent and helpful. I gave it a 5 star rating because it was exactly what it promised. It's an inexpensive place to stay near all attractions. I only had a few issues It was difficult to find which buildi... Read more

The room was clean and the beds were comfy same for the pillows. This was not my first time staying at a residence from this chain and while the beds were the most comfortable it stopped there. The wifi they advertised was not working and for some reason in my room the ethernet port was blocked off so I couldn't even connect my router that I usually bring. The bathroom was clean and had one of those Eco flush toilets but the shower head was terrible there was more water pressure at the arena we... Read more

I stayed at this Algonquin residence building for 1 summer night. Staff was courteous but there were some problems w/ the key cards. The suite was much too warm when I went in (24-25 C), and it took a couple of *hours* to cool down to an acceptable level. The double beds seemed OK but by no means plush; the pillows, rather thin. The convenience store opens at 7 on weekdays and is not open nights. It is not well-stocked. Wifi worked OK for me, but I wasn't on for long. The microwave in my suite w... Read more

We stayed at the Algonquin College Residence over the weekend and found that it met our family's needs. The beds are not full doubles, but this did not pose a problem for us. We really liked having the two separate bedrooms. It was very plain but very economical. It had a full fridge and microwave in the room. A stove was located on each floor. There was no couch or anything in the room, but lots of places to sit and socialize in the lobby. They do have a cafe in the building but we did n... Read more

This place isn't the Hotel Ritz but it was just right for our needs. It was central to where we had to go, they allowed pets and didn't charge more for them. Refrigerator and microwave in the kitchen with table and two chairs, no carpet on the tiled floor. Adjustable thermostat in the kitchen, it was freezing when we got there. Two almost identical bedrooms with desk, lamps, carpeted floors and small double bed. Also a telephone in each room plus free and fast Wifi. Bathroom had a few toiletry ... Read more

We‚??ve stayed at different hotels during our previous travels with my family and for the last week‚??s journey to Ottawa I risked to try the Residence & Conference Centre - Ottawa West as it offered lower price (just $20) than Best Western (40% off). Booked the room in advance drove 6 to 7hrs from Hamilton arrived there around 2:00PM. Went to the reception desk and I was told the checking time was 3:00pm. Fair enough, and we went out to grab some lunch and then came back. There was a big line ... Read more

Good price for 2 bedroom suite. Kitchen was handy however you need to bring all your own cooking/eating utilities such as pots, toaster, cutlery, can opener etc. Basic bathroom with shower, no bath. Not really any on-site amenities available, only a small food/tuck shop.

We stayed here for one night. Super friendly and helpful staff! Air con worked like a dream. Everything was clean, spik and span! If this is a student dorm (which it is) then I want to be a student once again! Moreover there's a huge grocery mall at about 5 minutes walking distance. Can't really find any cons to this place. Would recommend!

Clean and quiet! Good value for your money. Staff was very friendly and helpful! It is not a hotel it is college dorm which we found much better than a hotel! The location is a college dorm on the Algonquin College campus. We were here for a martial arts tournament held across the street at the Student Commons. There is a small shipping plaza directly behind the dorm with everything you need. But the facility does not have the amenities of a hotel/motel. If you know that going in, then you will be fine.

Great location. Within a 20 minute drive of the downtown area a f major attractions. Plus parking is free. The staff was friendly and the room was comfy and big enough to fit all 5 of us. There's a fridge and eating area as well. Another plus is that it's a 10 min (or less) walk to the mall. It's literally right outside the hotel. It was clean and perfect for short term and long term stays. The cost is also great!

Stayed for two nights in Aug and was not surprised at what we got for the price. Was a little out of the way from downtown Ottawa but the drive was not that bad and we made it a few times, just stay away from rush hr. as downtown Ottawa is all under construction and traffic doesn't move so find a outdoor patio and watch the frustration. Back to the hotel. What you get is a two bedroom with a small kitchenette and a washroom with a shower. Beds are small so you might want to use both rooms to sle... Read more

You'll be staying in a worn-down, dingy student residence. The beds are awful. The furniture generally is awful. Yes, there's a kitchen area, but no bowls, utensils, etc. No microwave. No hangers in the closet. Dirty bathroom. Don't expect much. Wifi reception was poor. Depressing but relatively cheap.

The pros: Reasonable price, conveniently located. Plenty of room. Clean linens, utilitarian but comfortable beds. I stayed there with my son and for $89 US per night we each got our own room Yes...they are former student housing...and are not Martha-Stewart-approved. Especially as compared to the $500/night accommodations my company put me up in while on business in Boston. But for my $$ - I was very pleased with the place.
