Best place to stay in Ottawa. Rooms are clean, staff is friendly and it is located near byward market, a supermarket, an lcbo, a beer store, Brothers Beer Pub and the Parliament. I stayed there four or five time and always had a great stay. Beware though, inner corner rooms are small for two people.

This hotel is well located to the Bytown market and across the street to the Rideau Center if you like to shop. Only a few blocks to Parliament Hill. The rooms are spacious and the bed was comfortable. They have breakfast buffet that had the usual fare for selections but it was good. The staff was very helpful and friendly. If your thinking of a stay in Ottawa this is a good choice.

The hotel was nice, clean, had spacious rooms and friendly staff. It was well located within walking distance to byward market and the canal where you can walk, rent bikes, etc. It was a bit pricey for the long weekend but otherwise I would definitely return.

The room was clean and quiet with lots of outlets. Staff were polite and responsive and the amenities were universally very good. If this location is convenient, check it out. The only negative is that the reviews must be 200 characters!!

Apart from its location, there are not many positives to say about this hotel. Rooms are small and look like they haven't been updated in 30 years. The grounds and lobby look nice though. No Usb connection in the room. Small tv. Reminds me a little bit of hotel rooms in Europe from 30 years ago. I paid 229$ per night for a room that was worth half that. To sum it up: this is a 2 star hotel disguised as a 4 star. Sorry, but I would not recommend to a friend.

This hotel doesn't live up to the Novotel brand. While it is well located it is like all the hotels in downtown Ottawa; really tired. Nothing has been done to update the room for a decade. Good luck finding a plug for a mobile device. There also seems to be a perennial line up at check in, which is not surprising given they seem to only have one person on at a time. Novotel has really gone up market internationally in the past few years, but they seem to have forgotten about Ottawa. Unfortunatel... Read more

The biggest problem, which was not the hotel's fault, is that the hotel was surrounded by substantial building works. This made getting from point A to point B quite difficult at times. Overall the hotel is very basic but fine. The staff were exceptionally helpful, particularly Troy.

Overpriced. I stayed in the junior king suite. This was not a suite. It was a regular room with a king bed and a pull out couch. No typical suite amenities (like a kettle even!). Because of the time of my trip, nightly rates were 400$ plus! I only stayed there because everywhere else in Ottawa was booked. I've stayed in nicer hotels in downtown Ottawa, including suites with full kitchenettes for far far less.

First there are some positives to this hotel before I explain the problem after problem that we experienced during our most recent and short stay. Positives: Great location, across from the Rideau Centre For Starbucks lovers, there are several in close walking distance. On arrival I noticed breakfast trays outside rooms at 8 pm. That kind of set the pace for seeing our small, musty room. Not sure if someone had smoked in it. Told the desk, they offered to have someone come and freshen it. Maybe they could pick up the breakfast trays in the hall. Dust bunnies in corners are growing. Mini fridge is really a mini cooler. Bathroom is updated but carpet old and dirty. Just not a nice room, or hotel. I am very disappointed, have been in much better. Won't come bac... Read more

Pros: This hotel was fairly clean and was well situated near the Byward Market. There was a coffee maker, a fridge and a safe in the room. The staff was friendly and helpful. Cons: The pool and fitness room were closed for renovations. The room was VERY small. The beds were doubles, not Queens, and there was barely enough room for an adult to pass in front of the beds. Picked this hotel for proximity to market area. Price was fair, people were friendly however the room was dirty which I didn't expect from this hotel. Sheets and towels were clean, but room was dusty and when I dropped something on the floor the dirt under the bead was disgusting. It was noisy as well with people in the hall as well as due to construction outside. Will not stay there again.

The hotel is very well located, unfortunately the entire downtown is under construction. The traffic due to the construction is not only noisy but has created massive traffic issues. Parking was difficult to get into and if you aren't on the main Novotel hotel parking you have to drag all your luggage up a floor since their is no access from the secondary parking area. Security in hotel concerned me since the elevators are open to all and access to floors is not secure. I have a regular fitnes... Read more

We booked for a suit via hotels.com and were informed 2 days before the arrival date (planned for July 1st) that our room was not available anymore. Hotel offered a discount and free breakfast. We did not really had time to look for another option. The room was supposed to be refurbished: bathroom had terrific plastic smell due to the material used. Pool looked dirty, water was not clear. Stayed at the Novotel Ottawa for five nights during my business trip. Received an automatic upgrade to a newly renovated room on the top floor. Very clean and modern. Requested a late check out on Canada Day as I had a late flight back to Vancouver. Danny, the front desk manager, honoured my request without question. Will definitely be back during my next trip to Ottawa. Great location across from the mall. Only a two block walk to great restaurants in the Market.

Great hotel, close to the sites, shopping and restaurants. Breakfast in the hotel is excellent with great service. Room was average, no bathtub just a shower. Small television and average furnishings. Rate was reasonable, but it was a conference deal. We were on the second floor facing the street and found the traffic noice disrupting.
