My husband and I stayed one night at the Hollis. The staff were helpful upon check in - we arrived a bit early and our room wasn't quite ready but they offered to store our bags and pre-check us in so we'd just have to get the key cards when we returned. We were in a King Room which was fairly spacious. It had a wet bar with sink, fridge, microwave but there wasn't really a table to eat at. There was a sitting chair and coffee table so probably ok for one person to eat in the room if needed. ... Read more

Got to our room, found out the keys do not work and the room we got wasn't the one we picked via the app. We then went back down to the front desk and they gave us a room on the fifth floor on the floor we wanted but not the room we wanted, it was fine the view was of the harbour. Shopping is within walking distance and a lot of restaurants to choose from. The fitness centre is not the greatest but the pool are is nice.

Location is fabulous - boardwalk is a block away, downtown shops easily accessible. This hotel is my number one choice in Halifax!!

It does not look like much from the outside but once you walk it gives a modern yet warm welcome (especially the warmed complimentary cookie). Friendly and efficient staff. I did not realize that the room was actually a suite. I was not told that I was upgraded. My colleagues also had suites so maybe much of the hotel is made up of suites. Only complaint is the outdoor noise of the construction across the street but that is beyond their control. Thanks.

Beautiful 'suite-like' room with mini-sink, microwave etc. View of the harbor. Excellent service, except our room wasn't made up until about 4, and when we asked, they told we should have specified we wanted it made up earlier. Seems strange for a major downtown city hotel that's part of a major chain. Otherwise very highly recommended.

Our last stay at this hotel was great, so we returned on June 25th to take in the Halifax Waterfront and kick off the summer season. We did not use our car for 2 days as we could easily walk to the waterfront and local attractions. Our room (915) was spacious, modern and very clean. The breakfast employee (Gemma) remembered us from a previous visit and was eager to assist hotel guests. We'll be back!

The Hollis is a clean, modern and comfortable hotel. The rooms are generously sized with a seating area and desk and are well equipped (free and reliable WiFi, mini fridge, microwave, coffee machine, mugs and glasses). A room tip is to ask for a harbour view; just be aware that they face due east and so if you don't take care to ensure that the black-out curtains are drawn, the bright sunrise will wake you very early in the summer (which is not entirely a bad thing - I can think of worse things ... We spent four nights at the Hollister and, although not luxurious, the hotel is of a high quality and offers good value. Check in was fast and efficient but could have been more personable; information could have been volunteered rather than available on request. Our room had a harbour view and was a good size at 450 square feet. It was well equipped with a safe, iron & board, umbrella, microwave, coffee machine, desk and a sofa-bed (additional to a king) which made for an uncomfortable sofa.... Read more

Breakfast was a huge let down...catered by Ryan Duffys..eggs dry and overcooked...same old same old food...had to get own second cup of coffee..tables left with gumpy old food and dirty dishes on them for too long while breakfasters had to eat at bar for lack of tables..room was dark.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Hollis for the July 4th weekend. Getting there was surprisingly easy, I took the bus ($3.50) from the airport to downtown, where it stops at the Scotia center and then walked from there to the hotel, which was ~10 minutes. Scotia center is near the top of the hill, so definitely easier to go down the hill near the waterfront where the hotel is than the other way around, and a lot cheaper than the other options from the airport, like the taxi which is ~$60 or the... Our company enjoys great discounts at this hotel and took advantage of that. Beautiful lobby and very helpful staff. I had a very large corner room overlooking the water and construction of a condo but otherwise very modern and all the expected ammenities. As a shower connoisseur, the ones in the bathroom were top notch. One thing people should know is there is parking across the street from the hotel, not a big deal though as it doesn't hurt to walk 50 feet. Will stay here again.

I would recommend a taxi. Rooms are spacious and very clean. Front desk extremely helpful. There is a clean laundry room with reasonable prices. Near to breakfast bistros, like Ellie's, and lovely restaurants. Short downhill to the boardwalk and lots of activities for kids of all ages.

I had 2 stays here recently. The hotel is in a great location, just a five minute walk away from the waterfront. The room, a one bedroom suite, was clean but a bit on the small size for a suite e.g. single sink bathroom with no bathtub. Tiny bottles of soap, shampoo and conditioner were not enough for 2 guests. WiFi was complimentary but the ethernet port in the room was non-functional. Front desk staff could be friendlier and gave me quite a bit of hassle about late checkouts despite my Hi... Read more

Great hotel as far as ammenities, looks and location. If you have an issue it could take a while and some arguing for it to be resolved. The staff seems to run around and no one knows where to go. I still liked this hotel very much and would go again. However if these mistakes and bad service would happen again I would not repeat the mistake.

This hotel has good amenities - adjacent to the bedroom we had a small living room area with sofas and dining space - but perhaps the best feature of this hotel is its proximity to the waterfront. Everyday morning we woke up to the view of boats plying the Bedford basin and the skyline of Dartmouth across the basin. However, to get this view, you need a room on the 9th floor - the topmost floor of the building. So make sure that you ask for a room on the topmost floor when you make the reservati... Read more

Husband left before me, and housekeeping knocked on the door within 10 minutes of his departure. The wom... Read more

Beautiful room, but stagnant air, no fresh air, they brought me a broken fan, which I had to open the main door to the hallway to try to get fresh air, very unsafe. Then they brought this localized ac unit working ok, but shouldn't the room have adacute air? Especially when paying close to 300 per night? Very dissatisfied

Staff were very friendly and helpful checking in and finding a spot to park a larger vehicle overnight. The room was very fresh and the bathroom with a rainfall shower was excellent. The location and view are tough to beat. Overall, the stay couldn't have been better. Highly recommended.

Although I would recommend this hotel as it is a beautiful place to stay and the staff are very friendly. I stayed at this hotel for a week and during that time my room was only serviced once and that was after I requested it. All other times that I requested service or towels never resulted in action. The room service is incredible when you do receive what you ordered although the price may not match what is advertised.

This hotel is centrally located and has an amazing staff. The rooms are spacious and well appointed and the lobby/dinner area is upscale and with walking distance to the waterfront and downtown area. It is approximately 40 minutes from the Halifax Airport

One of the most comfortable hotels I've stayed in, with the best shower! Checking in to a warm cookie, clean hot tub and pool facilities, lovely staff, and right down town. The beds were very comfortable, I had a great stay!

Great hotel. Rooms were great, excellent service. The room service was awful but we got our money back. Location is a bit tricky but once we got there it was fine. Pool was clean. We will go back again!

We were in town for two days and found this to be a perfect location and facility for our time here. All staff were friendly and efficient, everything was very well maintained from the large room with harbour view to the fitness center and other common areas. The restaurants we like are all within easy walking distance nearby as is the waterfront and many stores. Spectacular new library just a little farther up the hill. The breakfast was one of the best we've enjoyed anywhere....overall a top q... Read more
