This hotel was a great place to stay. It is conveniently located next to the Columbia station so is easily accessible by train. The rooms were large and the beds comfortable. Whilst not modern, the rooms are reasonably appointed. The tariff was very reasonable making the hotel great value.

An aging mid-range hotel. Great front office staff. Clean spacious rooms. Outstanding Wifi. Everything could use a coat of paint or a bit of maintenance. The bathrooms are old and in need of a redo. The lobby looks like a back alley. The rooms in the back enjoy the arrival and departure of the Skytrains - every 5 minutes.

While we got a decent deal on this stay, I have to say, I would have been happier to spend a bit more and have a more comfortable experience. It ended up being stressful and I didn't sleep well. This hotel is definitely haunted. I woke up in the middle of the night with that very clear, distinct feeling, and needless to say, it was very hard to get back to sleep! It felt like a presence was hovering, standing over beside the bed! Very creepy indeed. If you're looking for a budget experience... Read more

Clean, functional, but impossibly NOISY. The pub next door was so loud with yelling/talking/laughing that I gave up on sleeping, while my husband survived with earplugs (which i couldn't wear cause I had a 2 month old to listen for). The hole in the window for the AC may be wholly or only partially responsible. But, I could feel the base of the music through the walls, and the sound of the sky train startled me awake on each pass by.

We had a great stay . The room was spacious , very clean and quiet . The have a common area with table and chairs , brochures , vending machines etc which is a great place to hang out if you have more than 1 room . Parking is across the street and reasonable . The train station is 2 doors away, so we didn't use our car as much as we thought we would. The front desk staff was super friendly and very helpful. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

We were able to book an entire floor of rooms for my daughter's wedding. The private common area was wonderful for hanging out after the wedding as well as meeting up the next morning before checking out. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is a little dated and tired, but the beds were amazingly comfortable and the a/c and ceiling fans kept the rooms lovely and cool. The view from the premium rooms is amazing as well. Close to the waterfront, and plenty of parking across the roa... Read more

Based on reading favourable reviews here on Trip Advisor we made our decision to stay here for several nights. While the hotel is centrally located in New Westminster, adjacent to a Skytrain station, the area is very sketchy at night. In fact the front door is locked at 11:00 p:m and their is no staff present ! Built in 1892 the aging character building is very tired and requires significant updating. They have a unique common area on each floor that is pleasant, and their restaurant serves... Read more

Stayed here for 10 days in total. Lovely place friendly staff. Jennie at front desk was very helpful. Hotel is abit tired but still nice. The sky train is just next door. To get into vancouver city. One day pass will get you on buses and the sea bus to North vancouver. Starbucks is just a 2 minute walk away.

Far from downtown Vancouver, but literally on top of the Skytrain, Columbia station making the city accessible within a short 20-25 min. train ride. Being so close to the station...one may think it would be noisy and hard to sleep - quite the contrary as we found the noise to be minimal at best; our room was on the 4th floor facing the station. If your budget conscious, then you know you're not going to get the luxuries that one would pay for a nice downtown motel: continental breakfast, room s... Read more

I recently spent 12 days at this Hotel and found it a great place to stay. The staff were excellent and the room was clean and tidy every day by houes keeping. Each evening i returned the room was clean with fresh toiletries in the bathroom when needed. Great location for the Columbia skytrain station as it was only 2 doors away from the Hotel. I had a rear single room on the 4th floor and after reading some reviews that the train noise was loud and made it hard to sleep i was a bit concerned.But... Read more

A great place to stay. It doesn't look like much from the outside. You do have to park on the street for free from 8:00 pm to 8:00 am. The lobby is plain. But the room. WOW. Big, spacious and clean. Great value for the money.

My husband and I stayed 2 nights at this hotel! It is a historical hotel in new Westminster that is very clean and has friendly staff! It is located near many restaurants, pubs, stores and the river walkway! We were pleased with the great housekeeping staff & the convenience of this great location! There is a sky train station nearby so, there is some noise from the train. Overall, both my husband and I really enjoyed this hotel due to its good location & friendly staff! We will return on o... The Met has spacious, well appointed rooms. Fantastic staff, especially front desk folks. Super convenient to Skytrain. If you are at the back you will get Skytrain noise but easy to drown out with air conditioner on. The Met is my preferred hotel when working in Vancouver area.

The Met reminds me of a European hotel, with a faster elevator! We spent 3 nights there, really only to sleep, but found it clean, comfortable, well-located. We like to self-cater (although the menu items on their restaurant were tempting) so we appreciated the coffee-maker, fridge, microwave, table and chairs for our on-the-go breakfasts. Good WiFi. We had a river view but the high windows meant that we didn't really spend any time looking at it. The trains between the hotel and the river didn'... Read more

Great little hotel that met our needs for a week in the Vancouver area. The price was reasonable; rooms were neat and tidy and well maintained. Its location was great, steps to a Sky Train station. If you do stay there make sure you take an evening to walk on the board walk along the river. Staff were all very friendly and helpful and was able to direct us to where we needed to get to. Sean at the front desk was very accommodating to us as we arrived early for check in. He took our bags, stored... Read more

We stayed two nights in The Met in the height of summer and were happy with our choice. The front desk staff was friendly and the room prices were very good for the location, time of year, and proximity to Vancouver. The rooms were very dated but clean and served our needs. Our room was at the back of the hotel, overlooking the local Skytrain station but was quiet. Parking was handy and reasonably priced. This hotel is adjacent to Columbia TransLink SkyRail station and hence only 25 minutes from Pacific Central station where long distance Amtrak and Via Rail trains arrive. It has a dingy reception area but my room 437 was beautifully restored and a true heritage icon with partial views of the river and huge suspension bridge across to King George. The bed was very comfortable with good quality linen. It sadly lacked a security deposit box and nor was there a ledge on which to place one's suitc... Read more

The only good thing about this place is that it is situated right next to the skytrain station. But anything else is really terrible . At the reception, during opening hours, you are lucky if you find anybody. Anyone can get in and out of the hotel as most of the times nobody checks. The neighborhood is also ,in the evening especially, very questionable. Although it is nothing mentioned anywhere, they charge an extra 100 cad as " insurance" ,money that they reimburse without even ch... Read more

Three couples in our group recently stayed one night in 3 rooms (it was the day before Thanksgiving). The street outside is a little rough. The front entry isn't encouraging, small, dingy, and old. The check in was friendly if slow. This is an older property with a faded charm. Each floor has a large middle open area for lounging and magnificent 12 foot ceilings. In need of a face lift though. If the owners put some investment into a major refurbish this place would be charming once again. Our ... Read more

The Met Hotel in New Westminster is a hidden gem located about twelve miles away from Vancouver. It's an older hotel with large size rooms and comfortable beds. It has a small lobby with a check in desk, but makes up for it with a sitting area in the middle of each floor. I was fortunate to have a room on the 4th floor which has a skylight over the sitting area. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful, but being an older hotel, housekeeping could be better. This property has huge potential. The staff is excellent, very professional and friendly, and you cannot beat the location and value. It also has a ton of character in the rooms (the common spaces not at all). It is really badly outdated -- it could be a gem if it was updated nicely. The skytrain is literally next door -- but New Westminster is also great! The river park just across from the hotel is phenomenal -- especially if you have train / barge / drawbridge loving kids. Price was the major factor in considering this hotel. Between the room, parking and dog we paid less than half of anything in Vancouver. The room was nice but the cleanliness left something to be desired.
