Hospitality is a priority at this wonderful boutique hotel in Old Montreal! My second experience and have to say...I recommend the St. PAUL to all my friends when they visit the area. Personality and charm from the entire hotel experience. It is the place to stay! Was upgraded to a beautiful Black suite which made my birthday weekend...over the top! Be sure to check out BAROCCO around the corner for dinner & Olive & Gourmando for breakfast! St. PAUL....Thank you, for your hospitality!

My husband and I had a suite (so not the regular rooms) at the hotel at the beginning of May. We paid 420$ for one night. This price is without any extras, with a 15% off promotion applied on it, but does include the 28$ a day parking (which is optional). We are both from Montreal, 400$ a night is quite steep for us, but we wanted to have a special night. The hotel is very nice looking, the personnel was attentive and nice. The suite was quite nice looking too, great views of the city. We had a ... Read more

We travelled to Montreal for a friend's 50th birthday weekend and the Hotel St. Paul was a mod base the perfect location for exploring Montreal's very charming old town and port area - very close to both and all of it's many restaurants and shops. Though there isn't a dedicated concierge (at least not that we noticed), the front desk is generally very helpful - even if they got stymied by a Saturday afternoon request to have a blazer pressed within 24 hours. Eventually they figured it out and ... Read more

Elevator opens up and the halls are black, dimly lit. So dim you I can barely see. Yikes! Then I opened my room and all was well. Huge rooms! Really comfy bed. We stayed in St Pauls for three nights during May. The rooms were very clean and spacious for the price. Bathroom was lovely, had a huge bath. Beds were also very comfortable. Staff were friendly and service was in general a very high standard. The room comes with a continental breakfast which normally I do not like. However I thought theirs was particularly excellent. The décor is what shall I say different but the hotel was excellent. Room came with free wifi which we appreciated.

Located in an imposing Beaux-Arts building in Montreal's Old Town, the Hotel St. Paul has had a very cool, minimalist makeover. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming from the fire-lit alabaster cube in the lobby to the ethereal muslin drapes in the room. It doesn't feel like a big city hotel. Friendly attentive staff but weirdly dark and tired place. Maybe I'm not the proper target audience for this place but I found the dark back lit ( mood lighting ) in hall ways disturbing. Sadly it seemed more an effort to hide the very tired stained carpet than actual styling. Our "black suite" was spacious but again all the dark walls and light just made it feel cold. Wonderful hotel. Great value when booked 3 months in advance for a wedding over Labor Day weekend. It has beautiful interiors and rooms. Located amidst some of the best food and just south of the Old Town.

the rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable. good location...everything you want for a business trip..I feel its a little on the expensive side for what you get if i was staying for pleasure and paying out of my own pocket. ( i stay there at least once a month) my biggest complaint- is i hate that there is never anyone to help open the door when you are bringing in your luggage because the door is heavy and awkward. most of the staff is super nice- but some are meh...

Gave car to valet service and the car was broken into and robbed. Hotel and its insurance refuse to compensate for losses. Provided lip service at the time of loss, but then just deny deny deny. Will never ever stay there again Beware

Great location, walking distance to many attractions, notre dame, old montreal, the ports, the city and lots of shops. No spg benefits at all if you are platinum, though you will get points as your welcome gift. Parking is 30 bucks a night. Hotel is standard but wicked location.

Comfortable sleep is a top priority for nearly every hotel in the world. Apparently, that's not a priority at Hotel St. Paul. Our neighbors were playing music very loudly at 6pm. We called to complain. The hotel rep's response was rude, disrespectful, and comedic: 1. Your neighbors are celebrating a wedding...we can't tell them to be quiet 2. You should've told us you had an early flight the next day 3. It's only 6pm, you shouldn't ask for quiet at this hour 4. There are no available rooms in t... Read more

When I was looking for a hotel in Montreal, St. Paul's website offered 50% for a third night. This worked perfect for us and I compared pricing at other hotels and also hotel/air packages and this was a better deal. I tried to book it on the hotel website and it didn't reflect the discount. Since there was an 800 number (calling from US) I told this to the person at the desk and she offered to book it on their website and she also didn't get the discount reflected but then put it in manually ... Good value especially compared to the competition of which there are many. Located close to downtown and business core with many options for restaurants within walking distance. The only negative was the construction all around Montreal but that did not impact the quality of the hotel and the staff. A good stay in Old Montreal.

My son made reservations for us at Hotel St Paul to experience Vieux-Montreal in a Starwood Design Hotel. We took an Uber to the hotel very reasonable from the Marriott Airport entrance. It was CAD 25. Very nice ride and talk with the driver. Upon arriving at the hotel we were thrilled with the location and the our room. We immediately went out and took a right to the corner and turned on St Paul St and could not believe all of the amazing restaurants, art galleries, coffee shops, museums. churc... Read more

Every year we make sure to spend a few days at Hotel St-Paul. We love the location and we do appreciate that it is pet friendly. We and our two dogs feel at home. The beds are so comfortable that I have seen times I didn't want to leave the room.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights. The staff was very rude and unhelpful. Room service would take very long and at times did not even show up when we requested a few extra glasses. There were bugs in our washroom. We alerted staff and nothing was done about it. Not a single accommodation was made. Beds are very small (but comfortable). Overall, it was a terrible hotel and definitely not worth the money. I stay at hotels all over the world. Sometimes people are rude or the room is dirty. It ... Read more

The Hotel St Paul is a gem of a boutique hotel that is ideally located near Old Montreal and the waterfront, yet also accessible to the downtown area and the Metro. The staff is incredibly kind and helpful, especially with restaurant recommendations. The rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious and while I love the vibe of the dark hallways and public spaces of the hotel, my room was also dark and no amount of light seemed to brighten it up! Location is good. On the edge of the historic district. Near good restaurants. Lobby needed a good cleaning. Only one person at the check in desk. She was always busy so had to wait in line just to ask a question. Room needed a good cleaning. Stains on curtains and walls. Elevator and hallways are dark. Helps to hide the fact that they are not that clean. Stingy on towels. We were three in the room but only had two sets of towels. Took two requests to get more towels. Parking is an additional $2... The room was very comfortable. Bathroom needed update poorly designed with sunk bit to the wall and tub with a drain in an odd place. Loose the furry sham , looked dirty. The do not disturb sign was confusing since both sides said do not disturb but not to make up room. Front desk accommodating but did send us to the wrong market. Despite all my pickiness will recommend.

Great location for old Montreal and Notre Dame. The metro is a short walk away and is a must for getting around the city. We purchased a city pass which included the metro fares so lots of savings achieved. A point to note is that some of the attractions in Montreal are closed on Mondays. Mont Royal is a great place to visit on a Sunday!

Good hotel, good staff. Mini suites were well appointed and had large bathrooms. Very well located in relation to Old Montreal and to Metro for exploring other parts of Montreal. Attached restaurant sucks. Consistently under poured and over charged for drinks on two visits. Food was lackluster compared to other nearby restaurants.

This hotel is in a beautiful, old Montreal building. The interior is trendy, cool, dark and stark. The starkness continues throughout the halls, elevators and the room (obviously a type of decor not in my taste). The beds were wonderfully comfortable - unfortunately, the street noise from outside and the bathroom in the room above us disturbed the tranquility of our stay. Recommend it if you want to be "hip"...not so much if your sleep matters to you.

Fabulous location! Front desk staff, young ladies, weren't very friendly but the door/bell men made up for the standoffish greetings we received from front desk. Rooms were nice but my bed linens were stained when I went to bed my first night, gross! Housekeeping did change bed and all was good. The wine pour in restaurant was a ripoff which was so disappointing so go to the Vallier to the right of hotel...great food and generous wine pour. Great shopping in area! Would stay here again!

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel St. Paul in September, 2016 and felt that the location of the hotel was quite good (we walked and took local transit everywhere), but felt that the decor of the hotel was a bit rough around the edges for the price. We also felt that, while the staff was generally friendly enough, they didn't seem to want to go much out of their way to assist guests. We also thought the street noise as well as the noise from within the hotel deterred somewhat from tour enjoyme... Read more

Great location for the hotel. On a quiet, but major road, you have unhindered access to all the best places in Montreal. You're also immediately within Old Montreal and a ridiculous number of gorgeous restaurants. But, what's best is that you're not inundated with tourists around the hotel. You have proximity but also space. The same goes for the hotel room. Spacious. Great furnishings. I had a wonderful view. Exceptional.

The front desk staff were more than gracious, helping me update my thirty year old vocabulary (haven't spoken in French since high school), helping me select restaurants, get directions, and more.
