Right out in The Rockies a very rare and nice find! After some very big drives through amazing scenery, delighted to find a beautiful hotel that has great standards. In luxury, quality and service. Very well appointed rooms and bathrooms. Each room stocked with enough logs for the evening, to put onto the already prepared open fire, which was a real treat. All staff very friendly and helpful. I spent two nights at the Post Hotel & Spa. It was a very enjoyable experience. Between seasons, it was quiet and peaceful. Very few guests were in the hotel and the summer staff was in training. I appreciated the quiet and the elegance of the total experience. I ate in the Dining room for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner as well as the pub. All meals were exceptional in quality and service. We spent two nights at the Post Hotel, rented the Whitehorn Cabin (#101), right on the river. The cabin was suitable for two, but some people might find it a bit cramped, but was perfect for us. It was cozy and we enjoyed the in-room fireplace, and being able to go to sleep to the sound of the Bow river rushing by right outside our window. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The hotel has bicycles for guests to use, and will lend the venturous hiker a can of bear repellant. There i... Read more

Super friendly staff here. We stayed in a cabin for our honeymoon. The place is designed like an old world hunting resort that mated with an alpine ski lodge, who in turn birthed a North American spa in the mountains. There are other reviews that mention no hot tub and worn decor. As of May 2016 the decor is nice (newly remodeled in some parts) and the spa was available for use (though I didn't). It very close to town (walking distance for some). There are train tracks close by but it was not a ... Read more

We were staying at the Chateaux lake Louise but decided to try this place as it was number one in lake Louise. Had a drink in the bar before dinner - very good cocktail. Seating in this rooms is difficult though due to the old fashioned furniture and the way it is laid out. Could make more of this space if they updated it a bit. The restaurant itself is very formal, but nice. We had lobster ravioli and tuna tartare- both good. I had the beef stroganoff and my husband had the wagu beef fillet whi... Read more

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Post Hotel, apart from the price, decor and ambience. The staff are great, but the establishment feels like it is stuck in a 1990s timewarp, delivering a style of service which has long gone out of fashion. We were also asked to lodge a $200 payment and unfortunately used our UK Caxton pre load MasterCard for this pu... Read more

We stayed at the post hotel during the first part of our honeymoon and had a wonderful time. Upon arrival, we found chocolate dipped strawberries and champagne as a congratulations gift. This extra touch was a lovely way to kick-off an amazing vacation. Their location made it easy for us to beat the crowds to Lake Louise, Lake Moraine, and the other sites north of the area. We were also only a ~30-minute drive from Banff, which had more of a nightlife scene. The restaurant, lounge, and pub at th... Read more

We spent two nights at the Post Hotel in early September. I have mixed feelings about this hotel and likely would not stay here again. The predominantly young staff are enthusiastic and fun but because of the transient nature of the staff, service is inconsistent. As an example, I ordered a drink in one of the restaurants and they ran out of mixer. Instead of going to another bar(there are multiple) they told me the drink was not available. As noted in other reviews, the hotel is quaint which tr... Read more

We had read wonderful reviews so we booked three nights. The staff was amazing-very friendly and helpful. Our room was a king suite with a fireplace and two person jacuzzi. It was very comfortable and pretty. We had dinner one night at the restaurant and although it was expensive, the food was delicious. The grounds were beautiful-chairs are placed throughout the grounds so that people can enjoy the scenery. I highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel was by far the best we stayed in on our tour of Canada. I personally believe that the competition for 5* hotels is often now down to the staff as almost all have the facilities we have come to expect. The staff at The Post could not have been more helpful and kind during our stay. The rooms are very well appointed and the food is by far the best we had on our trip. I just hope that we get the chance to stay in this hotel again - a ski trip has now been added to the list! The staff her... Read more

It wasn't so much a luxury hotel with high end touches as it was a lodge or bed and breakfast property that had a lot more staff. To be fair, I didn't make use of the spa so maybe that affects my perception. The room felt a bit dated in design. I could also hear a train go by every few hours from my room. I didn't think for the price you got very good value. The staff was friendly and the food was pretty hearty in portions. I did like their fireplace setup and overall the property is very pea... I didn't stay at the hotel but chose the restaurant for the location of my daughter's small wedding reception. There were only 10 of us and we used the wine cellar and everything about the evening was perfect. The attention to detail is tremendous and the food is outstanding. I had to plan the event long distance and the staff made it easy and were a delight to work with. If you are looking for a place to host a memorable evening, you will be pleased with The Post Hotel.

The Post Hotel is WONDERFUL!!! The hotel is very European and the service is incredible. The staff goes out of its way to make sure you are comfortable and not want for anything. The restaurant was great and the food incredible. It is one of our top 5 hotels we have ever stayed at in the world.

We stayed 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed them. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the room we were given was spacious and comfortable (the jacuzzi bath was a bit clunky but welcome after the busy days of walking). The location of the hotel is convenient, and made the perfect base for exploring Banff national park. We ate in the restaurant, which was a very high quality experience. A glass of wine on the green on a warm Summer's evening with mountain views was a highlight. The only negat... Read more

A wonderful meal in a beautiful setting. We decided to have a meal here as the reviews were so good and they were not wrong. Gourmet dining with first class service. The menu was excellent with varied dishes to suit all palates. Caribou and black cod dishes were outstanding and puddings to die for.

Only stayed the one night but it was lovely, I could imagine it being very cosy when snow is on the ground. Nice size room, bed covers turned down at night for you with chocolates left on pillows. Shower was amazing, very powerful. Had an economy room facing the car park with the railway line behind, did hear a bit of noise but then the rooms on the other side were overlooking the river so you may get some noise from that.

This hotel is in the Relais & Chateaux group. That should be enough said. It is a lovely small property with 94 rooms. I did see one tour bus during our stay but that was nothing compared to the nearby Fairmonts (Chateau and Banff Springs). We were greeted with a complimentary bottle of wine and fruit basket. The room was very comfortable with a large balcony overlooking the river (preferred side). We enjoyed the fireplace, comfortable beds, large dressing room and early turn down service ... Read more

We were very pleased with both the hotel and its restaurant. The hotel staff gave us very informative advice and was always friendly and eager to help. Our room on the "preferred" side of the hotel was spacious and very comfortable. It had a huge and impressive stone fireplace which we didn't use, as the September weather was fairly warm. We enjoyed the restaurant so much that we returned a 2nd night. Both cuisine and service were first rate. The cost was high, but well justified. The wine lis... Read more

I stayed her last year and again a few weeks ago. The hotel is your best option in the area if you are visiting the Canadian Rockies. Definitely book a room on the river side. All in all though I still feel this hotel is in need of a refresh. The décor and rooms are very dated. The service has improved (slightly) since my last stay a bit. I enjoy the free tea in the lobby and the pastries are great. The restaurant was a disappointment. My veal Zurich was an adventure in over salting a d... Read more

We spent 3 nights at this wonderful hotel. A key point that is good and bad: It is 3 miles from Lake Louise. This is bad if you want to see the lake from your hotel, but good because the only lakeside hotel is overrun with tourists and seems a bit like Disneyland. There is a shuttle to the lake for $5/person. That said, the Post has very nice rooms, a very, very fine restaurant with an incredible wine list. It also has a cozy bar with a real fireplace. This hotel is one of the few small hotels I have seen in the Canadian Rockies. It provided a first class experience. Our room was in the back, hence no train noise. We had a second floor with a veranda. The bubbling Pipe River was clearly in sight. The room was very clean, but rather poorly laid out. We had a King bed and then there was a twin bed. We were booked for a fireplace, but they must have made some changes. The desk is jammed in, and since the computer is plugged there, we spent some t... Read more

We stayed here 4 nights. Just a wonderful place. The staff is terrific and really goes out of their way to be nice to you on every occasion. This hotel is near to the freight train tracks that run across Canada. Trains run all night. If you can afford to pay extra, book a room on the side away from the tracks. If you can't, try to get a HIGH NUMBERED ROOM on your floor. The tracks and the hotel make a "V", with the low-numbered rooms on any floor CLOSE to the tracks and the high-numbered ... Read more

We were encouraged to book into the Post Hotel restaurant whilst staying in Lake Louise. A truly 5* experience away from the bus trippers at the Chateau - sorry, but it was a surprise that the Fairmont was so busy and there wasn't a residents bar or restaurant there. The Post Hotel is independant and had a boutique feel. The restaurant was outstanding. Wonderful food, attentive staff. The only down side was that the restaurant tables looked out over the car park and not the river.

Great location for exploring the lake Louise area. Rooms cosy with cabin feel, fireplace etc. Service very good with friendly and helpful staff. Post hotel is pricey but you feel you are getting value for money. There are two restaurants on site, the pub and the restaurant. Although the food at both is good, I would say the menus are both quite boring and safe, especially at the restaurant.

We stayed at the Post for 2 nights on our honeymoon and loved it. Every member of staff we spoke to was friendly and welcoming, the rooms were beautiful and the hot tub sooo warm! We ate in the restaurant one night and the meal I ate was superb, the cod main was easily the nicest cod I have ever eaten. The second night we ate in the bar / lounge area and that was also very nice. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel and would like to go back one day.

This is definitely a luxury hotel that offers great amenities (bring your bathing suit!) and perfect location (just minutes walk away from village). The room we had was on the "preferred side", we did not hear the train at all. Room was very rustic, and clean. We had a small room without fireplace on the main floor (wish we had thought!). We had a 1 night stopover here between en route to Jasper from Banff and this was a great choice for that. Top notch linens and bath products.
