You get what you pay for here. The front desk clerk was friendly but she put all 3 sets of guests right next door to each other when the rest of the hotel was empty. Typically that isn't a problem, but these walls of this hotel were paper thin and we could hear about everything our neighbors did, especially a crying baby in the middle of the night. The road noise was very obvious too. Beds were semi comfortable. Place was clean. The saltwater hot tub was a bonus.

We were driving at night time when we decided to get some rest. The front counter person was very friendly. The room was clean. The wifi was good and easy to connect to. No free breakfast was the only negative.

We stopped in here on our way through to the coast. We stayed in room 223. it smelled really bad, when we arrived i had to open the window. We got the Jacuzzi room. Problem was that the room is slowly falling apart and about to collapse The roof shows signs of cracks and pulling away from the extra weight of the tub. There are stairs everywhere which is not convenient when needing to carry a lot of luggage. No ice machine available. and no one around to get your complimentary breakfast. and it... Read more

Good friendly service, clean room, no ice readily available, had to go to other side of building. Not easy to find. Room still being renovated.

One of first hotels when coming from the east. Room was very clean and updated with laminate flooring. Had frig and microwave. We were in rooms next to highway and surprisingly not as noisy as would have thought. There's another addition at the back and that's where you have to go get ice. Was great value for the price.

We stayed here a couple of years ago and they were under construction with many renovations. I must say it was such a delight to be back and see how wonderful and updated the rooms are. We had a great stay here again with the staff going above and beyond to ensure all our needs were met. The room was very clean when we arrived. The beds were very comfy and we enjoyed the new flat screen TV in the evening. This will continue to be our place to stay when travelling out to Alberta. The restau... Read more

Enjoyed the stay. Rooms are clean. We enjoyed the new beds, very comfy. We actually had a fridge, microwave, coffee machine, and new TV. We appreciate the fact that this hotel has upgraded. The view from our room was amazing. We could see the ski hill, and Mount 7. The walk down to the town was breathtaking. In the morning we also saw some wild mountain goats. We will return in July

I stayed at the Howard Johnson in May 2016. It was a pleasant stay with beautiful views from the balcony. Having the Chinese restaurant on site was also very convenient. It was a quick stay but I did enjoy the beauty of the town and mountains.

We stayed at the Howard Johnson about a month ago and had a wonderful experience. The mountain view from any room is breathtaking!! My boyfriend and I stayed here many years ago when it was under a different name, and I see that the room has since been upgraded beautifully! It was very clean, had wifi and service from staff was nothing short of friendly and professional. I will continue to come back to this place next time traveling though BC!

The coffee pot had not been cleaned from a prior user. It appeared overall that the cleaning person had been interrupted. Internet was sporadic at best. I had to log in many times. For a cheap motel it wasn't bad. no outside noise to speak of. I like the concept of wooden floors rather than carpet.

Decent bed. That is about where it ended. Crappy wifi. No table or desk to set up laptop or eat. Rusty fixtures in the shower. Tv didn't work. Air conditioner works half the time and filter for air con was not cleaned. Blew the breaker twice during my stay. One of the towels had some sort of stain. Not bad if you plan on staying a night or two.

It true you do get what you pay for. Garage sale mother of Christ bedspread is no extra charge. Newly renovated means shoddy wood trim added with amateur installed laminate flooring. And very slow wifi internet even though the system is password protected. Nice tv and clean though!

Room size OK, bed looks clean, mattress old but comfy, washroom small, bath towels old, very cheap shampoo and toilet paper, Wi-Fi very slow, not good soundproof between rooms, just a basic hotel for a overnight.

Says that it underwent "major renovations" but I couldn't see any. Our room smelt musky, the bathroom was old and I think that the curtains and bedding were older. The towels were too small for my 9 year and so thin they didn't absorb anything. The front cuter said they had no WiFi but the listing said they did. The pool was ice cold, the hot tub was lukewarm and tiles were falling off as we got in. And because people were wearing their shoes into the pool area, there were mud puddles that we ha... Read more

The room with kitchenette smell really bad...we were only in for one night so we tough it out and partly understand that people uses the kitchen but Howard Johnson should install a better ventilation system. We were on tge first floor and the people above us arrived late and was really noisy that woke everyone in our room...they should have better floor insulation or have carpet to minimize the noise travel. The employees are very friendly. I will not stay to this place again.

We booked a Deluxe King Suite and were expecting a little more. The room itself was okay. The king size bed was super comfortable, there was a new tv and plenty of lighting but there were some issues, a mini blind was off the window, there were no coffee cups, the digital clock wasn't working. For being a Deluxe suite it fell short. I do have to say though that the front desk staff is really friendly and they are quick to deal with any issues. I think the problem lies with they're cleaning staff... Read more

I am happy with this hotel for the most part. I personally think it is a bit expensive especially when you consider there is no breakfast at all for the price you pay. The room was nice and clean and the staff was friendly.

They advertised new beds and they were good, but that is all. The interior finish was third class amateur, flooring was peeling off, sound isolation is poor (we could hear the phone conversation of the person in the next room). The most recent cleaning occurred in the last century.

My wife and I had a stop over in Golden at the end of July and we ended up here. The rooms are very dated. At best this place is average, but carried a price that would make one think they were getting something much better. For example we stayed a few days later at a Sandman in downtown Calgary in a corner room, probably almost twice as big, with a King bed and a wet bar for $40.00 less, not including taxes,

Rooms very dated, air conditioner did not work, we were on second floor so opened up the window for the night. Was awakened at 4:30am by the sound and smell of the tour bus that was parked directly beside the building and directly under our window. No one at the desk, we had to close the window and sit outside for fresh air, both of us with pounding headaches. When staff arrived at 6 am, I went directly to the desk to complain. Not even so much as an apology. Was told the manager would call us, ... Read more

We arrived at the check in desk in time to hear a woman complaining for 5 minutes about the cleanliness of her room and lack of customer service of the staff. Went to our room to find that the coffee makers, there were 2, were in the bathroom, 1 with a pot and 1 without. I went to set up coffee for the morning to find that one of them does not actually hold water so had to use the pot from one in the other sobi could have a coffee. I also had to convince an 8 year old a bathroom coffee maker is ... Read more

We had people in the room above us. They arrived late and left early. Their footsteps we so loud on our ceiling that I felt like I was living inside a bass drum. Not a good sleep! Other than that, it's an ok place for the price. Just make sure you get an upstairs room.

Dirty, dirty, dirty. To their credit good mattresses and bedding but otherwise just plain awful. Avoid if you can, especially at this price point. Carpets in outer hallways are disgustingly dirty and stained, a real turn-off. Floors inside rooms are not carpeted and need a good mopping.

Ours was a last minute trip to Kelowna for a wedding. In my rush, I booked the room for the wrong day. I phoned the hotel directly, the receptionist was very pleasant, friendly, and helpful. When we arrived later that day we had already been booked in and our room was ready. The room was very clean. The location was quiet and the bed was comfortable. It met our needs well.

Grabbed a room here last minute. Was hoping for somewhere to take the kids swimming and were disappointed to learn the pool was broke. The bathroom in our room was disgusting. Upon accidentally moving the garbage, the walls looked like they were splashed and stained with urine. There was an old crusty wash cloth hanging from our shower curtain rod. Tried running a bath for our 6 week old baby and couldn't shut the tap off. The cold tap just kept spinning. We could hear our upstairs neighbours a... Read more

What a terrible hotel. Expedia lied to me with their photos of freshly renovated rooms and crisp white linens. This place is like putting lipstick on a pig - there have been mild improvements, but still a hole. And there were definitely not white linens but instead tattered and questionably stained bedspreads. As noted in previous reviews, it was also super loud in the morning due to poor soundproofing. Also 70 % sure a murder happened here because there are some concerning stains and the room w... Read more

Building seems to have had some minor face lift repairs. Needs complete renovations and repairs of fixtures. Parking is inadequate, disorganized and first come, first served basis. No handicap spots. Interior wood trim appears to be some unpainted stained strapping. Bathroom is totally unacceptable with rusty fixtures, worn plating of bathtub fittings, questionable bathtub slip coating (no mat), no sink drain plug, damaged mirror, stained toilet seat. We stayed here for a night after a day in Revelstoke and before a day in Banff. Great location, easy check-in and lots of parking. Our room was very quiet and clean. We could tell it had been renovated. The staff were kind and helpful. Great value for the price! Would recommend it to anyone needing a place to stay in Golden on a budget.
