My stay was really pleasant and they have a great setup here. They were doing renovations on the building but that didn't disrupt my stay. The room was clean, the bed was super nice, and every room has a microwave and empty mini fridge (I was glad it's empty so we could put food in there).

We stayed at this property because we were attending a conference at the convention centre. Although the room was relatively clean, it was definitely showing its age. The carpet was significantly worn and this did not leave a good impression. The wifi and parking were both free. There is also a free continental breakfast (the usual hotel quality). I believe renovations are underway and they are needed.

Mistakingly I thought that a 'marina' location would be an attractive place to stay. Unfortunately the part of the marina where this hotel is located is industrial and it was about a 20 minute walk to the nearest restaurants. While this walk was along a designated pathway it took you under flyovers and across railway lines so it wasn't a very scenic route! The hotel itself was undergoing a major refurbishment work which resulted in the lobby being a mess and scaffolding outside our bedroom windo... Read more

wish we could have stayed longer at this hotel. the reception was being renovated when we arrived and I would love to see what it looks now. We enjoyed the location and was able to walk everywhere we needed to go. staff were friendly and went out of their way to assist with our questions.

As we pulled up the hotel and saw the scaffolding, we started to feel a bit uneasy about this hotel. When we walked into the front lobby, which is a labyrinth of plywood and apologetic signage, we were greeted by absolutely no one. After a few minutes, a man near the elevators said, "He's getting me a coffee." A few minutes later, a staff member emerged from behind a plywood panel and said he would be right with us. And then he created some kind of custom made coffee concoction for the other cu... Read more

Very nice hotel - great staff - big breakfast- love the pool & hot tub- would stay there again. The location was great and easy to find coming off the highway. Great pub next door - the down under - food was good and prices awesome!

The Inn was undergoing rehab at the time, and so the manager upgraded our stay to a better room without asking when we arrived. The room was nice with a view toward the downtown. The free breakfast was fantastic, with pleanty of choices, and well maintained. The people were friendly and accommodating. And accessing the downtown was easy.

We recently stayed here for the better part of 2 weeks on a family vacation. When we first arrived we were a little concerned because the hotel was undergoing renovations and there was construction going on. It turned out we were concerned over nothing. Construction did not disrupt our stay at all. Our room, and the whole hotel for that matter was one of the cleanest we had ever seen. That is really impressive considering the renovations. The beds were super comfortable, we had lots of tow... Read more

Nice place to stay on the way to Nova Scotia. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was nice size, bed was comfortable, and very clean. Great location for getting off and on the highway easily.

Reno's make the stay a little let enjoyable. The room was okay. on the plus side the lemonade in the lobby was great!. Toni who checked us in could of been a little more friendly. Lots of parking in the back of the hotel for you if your pulling a trailer. For someone like us who was pulling a trailer and didn't want to drive around the city for food, this place isn't a great spot for foot traffic.

My husband and I chose this hotel due to its location to the port. I requested a port view room and was not disappointed. There is a nice little pub "the pub down under" next door, we're we enjoyed dinner. Due to rain we could not walk to the port but was delighted as we hailed a taxi and met Roy. Roy took us on a great tour of Saint John (roystours.webs.Com or saving us from a very wet walk. Breakfast was the usual, the venue was clean and we'll organized.

This had all the qualities of a great Holiday Inn, but unfortunately, the whole hotel is under construction (which is needed to update it). However, the staff has made every attempt to make it as comfortable as possible, with the breakfast room and gym moved into previous conference rooms. But, the pool has been renovated and completed and is great (large and deep). Everything else was extremely comfortable. Definitely worth a stay when the construction is complete. Location was fantastic - 10 m... Read more

Yes, they're redecorating, but the don't need to make it so hard. Entrance only from rear ("G" floor) Sign says up 2 floors for lobby. What that means regarding your elevator button choice is your late night lottery!

I'm generally not a particularly fussy traveler and have enjoyed places that have been given low ratings by some. But staying here was only slightly better than sleeping under a bridge in the pouring rain. This place deserves the lowest rating possible. Go somewhere else. Anything would be better. The whole place smells old and stale, like the cigarette smoke from 20 years ago has seeped right into the walls and carpets. It's disgusting. We were assigned a non smoking room but it smelled s... Even though the construction did not happen on the weekend, whe we were there, we were inconvenience by the lobby and no laundry facilities available for our use. The room we requested with a water view was blocked by a large freeway. We laughed when we looked out the window. The staff was helpful in finding a church for us to attend & even called his "mum" to get information. The area around the hotel is not particularly safe according to locals that we met.

OK. They're having construction. They're not in a scenic location. We had 0 problems getting in, parking, or getting to our room. The room is incredibly comfortable - very comfy mattresses, 4 big pillows on each bed, soft sheets, plenty of room for luggage. And the shower was great! One of those big shower heads, lots of pressure, and nice bath products. The bathroom is small, but there's plenty of counter space and towels. there's a microwave and fridge in the room and they have free Wi-Fi. The... Read more

Let me start by saying that the hotel has a renovation overdue which is coming. When we stayed there 2 nights ago work was ongoing on the reception area. It looks very promising as to what it will look like once completed - with the guest rooms done too. I am a Spire member with IHG. A HIE is no the same as an Intercon but this hotel did a lot of things I have not seen from any other HIE property: - in the room a personalised welcome letter - gift basket with a small bottle of French white ... As noted in other reviews not the most scenic area. One picky item ...Shower heads are on the low side. I would not hesitate to stay... Read more

The hotel is being updated so I didn't expect perfection. The room was fine & decent sized, we had no issues with bed or bathroom. The ability to do laundry was one of the main reasons we picked this hotel, we were dissapointed when we were told it was not available during the renovation. The HORRIBLE Wi-fi was a major issue for us. We book hotels as we go on road trips and were unable to book our next place b/c the wi-fi never worked for more than a minute at a time. This hotel has been renovated nicely. It is a surprise find for a lower price hotel. There is a free shuttle to the airport, also. Our room was clean, nicely decorated. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was a good size and comfortable. The lobby is small, not much more than just an entrance to the hotel. Not many frills, but the staff was capable, efficient, friendly, and helpful. Although the hotel just outside of town, it is not too far away.

Pretty good stay in Saint John. Even though they were under renovations during our 2 day stay, you wouldn't have known it. Quiet, clean and secure with all amenities still available to guests. The rooms were well appointed and tidy. We stayed in a two room suite and would certainly stay there again. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Saint John area.

Overall I really liked this hotel. Very convenient location to shopping and food and easy to find from the highway. The room was spacious and clean. We had a water view which wasn't too bad although the harbor front isn't particularly pretty. Would have liked an ice machine on our floor which was the ninth floor. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

I was a bit disappointed with this HIE - it was not up to the level of expectations. It is our experience that often the HIE is just off a major highway (in this case, I95) thereby being very convenient - our reason for the choice. This was not visible from I95 and required GPS to find. To be fair, the registration area was under construction and that made a difference. But the room was not so great. We felt welcomed at this facility and loved the pool and hot tub. Evening popcorn was a hit with the kids. We enjoyed the walking path to Market Square at this time of year - about 15 minutes. We stayed here for one night as a mini Saint John/New River Beach getaway. This hotel offers good value for money, with competitive rates, free parking and great (free) breakfast offerings. We elected to stay in the jungle-themed kids' suite, which my 3 year old loved. The bunkbeds in a separate section are a great option for little ones. The king sized bed in the 'adult' section was a nice touch and was surprisingly comfortable. It did make the crib a tight fit! Nice to have amenities like a mic... Read more

Where we booked this hotel it was called Holiday Inn Harbour View, but the view has the freeways running across and just isn't very nice. We always stay at IHG properties and didn't book for the view, so it was fine. The rooms were nice and clean. The lobby was being renovated, but was surprisingly clean considering the work being done. The breakfast was the standard buffet, but fresh and warm which isn't a given these days.

This HIE is in the process of renovation but what has been completed is quite lovely. The rooms are very clean and spacious - we were lucky to have a view of the harbor and saw the cruise ships docked there. We did have a problem with our toilet the first night of our stay but maintenance was quick to fix it first thing in the morning. Breakfast is nicely presented and there is plenty of seating.

The hotel is located quite close to downtown, with a view of the harbour. You can watch cruise ships coming in and out. Lots of parking and within walking distance to many amenities: fast food, bank, Tim Hortons. Excellent free breakfast - and the eggs don't taste fake. Great value for the money. Will definitely stay here again.

We came to St. John planning to spend one night. This hotel is so pleasant and so professionally run that we extended our stay another night. John, the front desk person, was very helpful. The lady who managed the breakfast room on Sunday did an excellent job. Also very helpful with directions. Room was comfortable, bathroom was excellent and the housekeepers kept the room stocked and exceptionally clean. Highly recommend this hotel.

My wife and I spent 3 nights here and enjoyed our stay. All of the staff were very nice and helpful. The only problems we had were the wifi was somewhat unreliable and the room keys often did not work. This was quite frustrating having to go up and down 5 floors several times just to get into our room.

We chose HIE because when travelled to the West Coast of the USA 4 years ago we stayed in lots and were very impressed. Not so in Saint John. Firstly our room is so ridiculously small we needed to move furniture to be able to put our bags down. 2 medium sized bags only. One had to go on the bathroom floor under the sinks and the other where the chair had been. We expect small from quaint B&B's but not HIE. This hotel turned out to be a pleasant surprise for us. It is an older hotel that is under renovation, and several times the staff apologized.
