We stumbled upon Hotel Selkirk on a trip through Western Canada and boy what a treat. We arrive at Fort Edmonton around 7, after the park had closed. Getting in was a little foreign, the park is fully gated. Once you find the gate you'll need to buzz the front desk so the can let you in. Anyway entering the park is truly a time warp. The hotel is very nicely done in 1920 theme but with some modern amenities like Wi-Fi. However, beware their is no tv, at least in the room we had. Also the sleepin... Read more

Went to 'Scary Nasty' at the Capital Theatre in Fort Edmonton Park and had dinner at the Selkirk Hotel. It was an awsome all you can eat buffet. We ordered a realy nice bottle of Chilean merlot. The desert table was ginormouse.

An opportunity to stay in the heart of Edmonton at the living museum Fort Edmonton in a 1920's themed Hotel was a no brainer given the inexpensive rate and park passes included. It exceeded my expectations. The rooms while not authentic do pay a fair tribute to the time period it honours. They do lack T.V.s but not to worry for those unable to make a complete break the free wifi was fast and strong. The hotel restaurant and a separate pub carry on the theme seamlessly. The quality of the ... Read more

We stayed here for the Valentine's Day 2015 Couples Weekend. We had such an AMAZING time we are currently trying to plan a wedding here. The hotel is quaint, and it is beautifully set in the River Valley. The rooms are vintage, with a modern take as plumbing is a necessity. There is no tv which we love because connecting is easier when there are no electronics. The beds were decent and the layout was very chic. The grand staircase, the concierge, and the guest satisfaction of feeling in the pa... Read more

2nd time coming here off season and it is just lovely. We were treated very well and the food was fantastic. The buildings were closed but there is still great places to walk. The animals and the tram were getting ready for the summer season. Lots of things to do once open. Pricey though.

We stayed at the Selkirk Hotel in Fort Edmonton Park as we were attending the wedding of a niece. It was an excellent choice. Very quiet. Very close to the Blatchford Hanger, where the wedding was held. The king size bed was very comfortable.

Arriving from out of town, we stayed here 2 nights while attending a friend's wedding. Hotel guests have free park admission during the day and can enjoy the quietness of it in the evening for a stroll down the pioneer ear streets. Very comfortable room; quiet hallways; very good nights' sleep. Room was spotless and inviting. Front desk staff was always cheerful and eager to share pioneer facts. Totally away from busy downtown streets. Secluded within Fort Edmonton Park. Would def recommend.

On a whim I decided to stay at the Selkirk at Ft. Edmonton. The fort has been built over the decades, and the Selkirk was one of the historic buildings moved there and "modernized." My room was small but comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Best of all, you can freely roam Ft. Edmonton and its reconstruction of period streets and buildings. The fort also features interesting historically accurate gardens of "old" Edmonton. Situated on the North Saskatchewan River, the trees a... Read more

The poor score I gave is based on the customer service I received at the front desk....or lack thereof to be more accurate. I contacted the hotel through e-mail to inquire about booking 2 rooms, and the reply I received was not very informative at all. They said they had rooms. That's it. Didn't tell me how to book the rooms, I had to e-mail back and ask. They then sent me a booking confirmation. I asked about parking, since it doesn't say on the website where to park if staying at the hotel, ... Read more

It was a really busy weekend in Edmonton - the Edmonton Marathon was on downtown...didn't want to be driving there. The Blues Festival and the Fringe were also on and it seemed that so many places were booked. That's when I found Hotel Selkirk. We checked in and were told that we had access to Fort Edmonton even though the park was closed. We had an amazing supper in the restaurant and enjoyed drinks in the Mahogany Room. Derek was such a friendly young bartender. We then walked through the peac... Read more

We attended a wedding inside the park so decided to stay in the Selkirk for convenience. It was obviously off season so there wasn't a lot open other than the theatre but the park was beautiful after an early season snowfall the day we arrived. Front desk staff was friendly and efficient, we were disappointed to learn that there were no televisions in the hotel at all as it was the first night of the ALCS and we wanted to cheer on the Blue Jays! As another reviewer said, we understand that it... Read more
